- Do you want to know how to Fix Buttons not working on PS5 Controller, maybe cleaning off the film on the controller will help the D-pad and the X O Triangle and the square will fix this. I just took apart the PS5 controller and cleaned the filmed and buttons with some rubbing alcohol and then the buttons too. Make sure the film is pressed against the back plate too so it's not sticking up and there is a good connection for the signal to travel to the board on the controller.

This helped me out a lot. Had a non-responsive d-pad button and this got me through the disassembly/reassembly process with zero headaches. There was a slight difference between my controller and this one, but they were very minor and didn't impede me at all. My controller is now working like new and this video saved me $70.
You didn´t have the white bridge in the last step, right? 2 screws less.

I'm trying to muster up the courage. My up button ain't any good.
I have literally bought 2 extra controllers for my PS5 since release because of the triangle button on one, and square button on another controller not working. I had another controller stop working during game play and decided I can not keep buying controllers I need to FIX them! @@GridironRoarsee the video! My square button just got "mushy" without the click feeling by playing Black Myth Wukong, i cleaned the buttons and the rubber thing and also the contacts, works great now again!
You didn't fix my controler but you taught me the inside well enough to fix it my self!!! A like well earned!!!

I don’t normally post on RUclips videos, but this is a legitimately helpful video. I went from zero signal on my right d-pad to working like new. The tear down is the most helpful part. Newer controllers have a slightly different anatomy, but the majority is applicable and really useful to get to the parts you need to clean without bricking your device. 10/10.
I dropped my controller and the x button stopped working. My other controller had horrible stick drift on the right trigger. I was stuck only playing Gran Turismo and it requires little r stick, but this video solved my cross button issue first try! I may have torn the headphone ribbon tho, but I don’t use it anyways. Now to attempt fixing stick drift on my other DS!

Agreeing with rest of here: My under 1 year old PS5 controller's d-pad stopped working properly, so out of curiosity tore it open with this guide, did some cleaning and now it is again working. I wish all user made content in RUclips would be as helpful as this one was. Thank you!
It's Sunday. My holy gaming day, it is most sacred to me. Imagine my dismay when I turned my PS5 on to immerse myself in rightous gameplay, and the tri-angle button doesn't work. The panic sets in quickly, my heartbeat rises, I even start to sweat a little. Whatever can I do?!? Of course first thing to do is search google. The first video is nothing but useless info about restarting your console and controller..... But then, I land on this absolute gem of a video. I follow it to the letter.......... @@DerekChauvinWLM During the menu, all buttons on the pad work (except L2 because when entering the pin code where I have it, L2 does not respond to the buttons, so I have to enter the code manually). In games, no buttons respond and I can't do anything, the only thing that helps is resetting the gamepad in the settings, thanks to which I am able to log in to the game, but despite this, my character in games such as GTA V or Watch Dogs immediately starts aiming and cannot I have a way to stop this, so I think that the reason is the damaged L2 button, but it is possible that the problem lies elsewhere someone help 😭😭

@@jhonedoe9201similar thing to what this guy did, but instead you peel open the green caps near the analog sticks, take out the white piece inside and clean it as well as the inside of the green container. Then put it back in and put some silicone grease in before you put the sensor back in. I tried it, it worked. But now the buttons won’t work lol.
You made me the hero of the house. My son dropped his controller today and we thought it was toast .Thanks to you I was able to carefully disassemble it and see that the cover of the buttons had shifted. I cleaned everything as you instructed, put things back in place then figured it was a fun but futile experiment. It FIXED the controller! A million thank yous!
Holy shiet... I really didn't think this would help. I was told I would need to spend like 30 dollars to get my controller fixed in Korea. I was like sure let's just try this and if it breaks, then whatever. This worked perfectly! Not only did it fix my controller, I feel confident I understand the anatomy of my controller and will be able to fix it when I have issues in the future. Much appreciated!

Wow! I tried to avoid everything I could find on how to fix my non-functioning Down D-Pad button to no avail. As a last resort, I followed your guide to disassemble/ clean/ reassemble the control and now the button is functioning again! Thank you so much! I Wish I could like this 1 million times!

After smashing my controller in the ground the trange button stopped working. Heard loose parts move inside the controller and was minutes away from biting a new one, but came over this video and now it works perfectly. Thanks for saving me 80 dollars😊

My controller was acting wonky as all hell after I dropped it one too many times, the shoulder buttons would only respond after a D-pad input and the face buttons were totally out of commission. This fixed it completely. Thank you!

My controller was working on the home screen but not anything else. So I found this video and you showed me how to open the controller up. I figured out there was a ribbon cable loose that made the L1 button not work so I reconnected it and sure enough it works now. My son is so happy. Thank u for the video. U got my sub now for sure!

My triangle button wasn’t working. Opened it up, cleaned up everything with alcohol. Wasn’t any debris or dust. The sensors didn’t even look like they needed to be cleaned. But my triangle button now works.

I used this guide to fix my modded battle beaver dualsense. Some differences were the back buttons added to the back plate connected with a wire. The guide worked and helped me fix my triangle button.

Used this guide a few times. As last resort and it has helped. My pads were struggling with stick and unresponsive buttons. And the warranty had just expired. This guide helped although I did have to do it again, hopefully all is fine now though. Thank you
Mine did the same thing. Like it works opening up apps but doesn't work inside the game. I did it and it worked but it's doing it again so I'm gonna have to do it again myself. Maybe it's the PlayStation button plate itself that is bugged???
@@KitaskeDarkAngel. If it works in apps but doesn’t work in game it means your Bumpers, L1, L2 or R1, R2 aren’t working. U can figure this out in the home menu by trying to cycle between games and media with R1 and L1. If any don’t work you can’t use any buttons in apps. It’s a weird issue I have with one of my other controllers.

Edit: After a few months, the problem reoccured. Thinking if a conductive pen would help make the fix more permanent.

Thanks to this video I saved money on not buying a new controller d pad and the other buttons wasn't working I replaced the sensor film on the buttons that fixed the problem

Man you are a savior did everything you said i had the uper direction and right direction not working since my little nephew dropped the controller i didn't even to clean it with alcohol just blowed gently on it and wiped it with a tissue and it works like it's new thank man

I threw my controller from my bed when I was pulling my bed sheets and I panicked when no buttons other than the touchpad were working, this guide was extremely helpful in opening my controller and fixing it. I'd like to add that to open it you do need to apply quite a bit of force, as I was scared of pulling too hard, but I think the hardest part was just that, the rest was easier :))

I got the buttons fixed which was the problem. I did have some problems getting it taken apart. But now that i cleaned the buttons and fixed them my bumpers amd triggers dont work on both sides and i know the thing that plugs them to have power was a struggle to get back in. Any help please?
