Great interview segment. I’ve met Eric before and I love how intrigued he is about the arts. He always seems to ask the right questions and Tina was great at breaking it down
I love improv! I did it for a silent role at a local theater. I’ve been told that improv is like writing your own lines and jokes and one liners. “Think like a writer. Act like a person” that’s what people keep on telling me during the play that I was in
Yeah that could probably work ! I reckon Tina Fey is giving us "effective" improv tricks, so that you take fewer risks and feel more comfortable while doing it.
@@zotharr I’d assume breaking the rules is easier when you know the people you’re working with well enough to know they could handle it. The rules make it easier to bounce off each other and continue on, breaking the rules can be funny since it subverts expectations, but if your partner can’t work quickly with that curve ball then the scene will fall flat. So probably a case of “learn the rules (and why they exist) before you break them”.
Help! I don't understand " We're not married is a denial. We've learnt our first improv lesson ". What does improv lesson do to prove that they are married ?
Tina is saying that he should have gone with the premise that they are married. She created the background of them being married, and he should have continued with it.
I believe I heard Tina Fey say that although men appreciate women with smarts, they don’t want to sleep with them, they want to sleep with Megan Fox. I beg to differ.....
lol, improv is not easy. I just joined an improv troupe and there is much too learn having no previous experience with improv. If you think it is easy you've stopped growing.
You can acknowledge that the question shows someone else’s viewpoint. “I understand that you’re labeling me and I can explain why your accusations are illogical.”
no, that's what she explained in this video. Once you say no, you have killed the other persons fantasy, as well as the scene the audience had in their heads. Now there is no situation, and she feels put out. Why do u wanna make it out like she's in the wrong so bad
She said that they had a wedding anniversary, and he said they weren't married. If divorces didn't exist, that would have been a denial. She could have just said "We may not be married anymore, but our anniversary still means something to me. If you didn't pull a gun on me every time we argued, I never would have left you." What he did wasn't a denial. But her calling him senile would have been. Declaring that the other character is crazy means that the other person cannot contribute anything to the scene, because anything they say will be met with "Nothing you say is real because you are crazy."
Who is here just to be able to talk more and be more talkative?
lol
YES!!
Yes, and.... yes. *sigh* I suck at this.

@1:06 while explaining "Yes ..." Tina says, "No, I don't know." Yes, it IS hard to learn improv!
lmao good catch, yeah she needs to maintain her own improv principles.
they weren't doing improv in that moment
She started by following her improv rules with "Yes", then realised how blunt she sounded.
great video- :)
Is this from bossy pants or is there another book I don't know about
I wondered too
Yes it's that one
What a charming lady.
the first rule is to say yes or to agree.
What book are they referring to?
I need to know too.

Tina is absolutely taking over SNL once Lorne retires
Tina Fey is the hottest woman on the planet. She’s got that sexi librarian look, she’s smart and she’s so funny

We don't have any children
What do you do with them?!

I dont get this. Did you mean “what DID you do with them?”?
@@eeyore7529 Its not only that, the problem is with not saying yes is, that no can lead into a loop

I rather sleep with Tina Fey. I find her very attractive
Well it’s true for women. Women appreciate men with smarts but we don’t want to fuck them. We want to fuck guys like Zack Efron and Zayn Malik
But tinasya special case because she has beauty and brains
