Where ever that camp ground is, it is BEAUTIFUL. The baby is ADORABLE. I see you have another on the way. I have a Kodiak canvas flex bow 10x10 tent with extras. I camp that way, but....I have to have a real running toilet in the area. I refuse to use a make shift toilet!! No compost number, no poop bags!! I would rather dig a big hole in the ground in the woods than that. So camp grounds with toilets are my thing. I do have a shower tent with a 5 gallon bladder including the shower hose and head. Can bake the bladder in the sun or warm the water on my little fire stack. The water drains out the corners in the floor of the shower tent through meshed corners. I would never deal with a gray tank.
I absolutely LOVE the simplicity of this build!!!! As someone who RV’d full time for over 10 years I can really appreciate this design. If I were doing something for myself I would never even worry about anything that didn’t plug into a campground outlet. I don’t think we did any boon-docking in 10 years of full time RVing. We either plugged in or just roughed it 🤷🏼♀️

I believe even if I set it up for boon docking, with great solar and batteries, we'd still have trouble finding time to go camping. The little camper is just enough to keep us out of a tent. I envy your ten years of full time RV life. I lived in a car for 15 months and it wasn't a very easy thing to do, but I miss parts of it like waking up with the sun and being outdoors a lot.
I'd put luggage rack on the camper and mount the boats up there. The kids look like they had fun. Your daughter is a clone of your wife LOL. These are memories they will always have. Good job Dad!
I love your videos! If you're an apartment dweller folks don't let that stop you from camping, or very little $ for a vacation, make those memories. While I was feeling bad I couldn't take my kids to Disney Land, they just remember having spontaneous adventures. In the 2000s, I'd wake the kids up at 4am, take all the small roads to Dinosaur Valley, stopped at all night slow diners for early breakfast, checked in at 9am, they thought we were so far away. Took us 45 min to get home on the interstate. Go off season, less crowded. The best times were without tent, gear assembly, it's just a shell. But you made a hotel, I'm so impressed. These are the Good Ole Days During fire bans we brought a gadget you put this probe into water to instantly heat it up, coffee or warm wash water, works in a can of soup too. Nowadays they charge on a USB and cheap.
You'd be surprised how many parks might be near you, some areas are free but a picnic table might be all ya get. They all have season passes if you go more than 3 times a year and they're associated with parks all over. Single grandma with a toddler, reserve a cheap motel near park and just hang out in the daytime. In the '80s we'd camp in hatchback Subaru, back seats folded down to make a long bed for 3. In the'90s back of a pick up with a tarp, at dawn I woke to tornado clouds, we were out of the park in 10 minutes, honking to wake everyone up. My husband got a headache bar $20 at a garage sale & more tarps, it was perfect. He bought a used topper for $50 it was nice with windows, we used once, it became the dogs' house stored in the backyard, teens didn't fit. Cold weather we camped in Chevy Caravan put captain seats outside & covered in tarp to keep clean or left at home. One extreme coldsnap we covered the van in tarps and stayed warm all night. Muggy heat Summers we rented $20 screened in porch w/lights, electricity to plug in fan, mini microwave for popcorn or toaster oven, & picnic table inside for playing cards all night, nearby bathroom & shower at Eisenhower park $20 perfect for teens & their friends to keep an eye on them all in 1 place, tuna, beans, PB&J, Ramon, watermelon/fruit- Stopped wasting time, $ on supplies & gear after my husband died.
I enjoyed reading both of your comments as they very much reflect on the simplicity of camping in my youth as well. Thank you for sharing the tips and encouragement as so many will learn that camping with less stuff makes better stories. I have purposely designed my campers to be simple in their equipment to get the spirit of camping out of them. Your stories reminded me of one night we were tent camping along the Shenandoah river. I was a small child and it had rained a lot. It was a warm summer night. We were in a giant army green canvas tent. I literally awoke in a puddle of warm rainwater from our leaky tent. Had to scoot over a couple feet to find dry land. Thanks for sharing and for watching! It's greatly appreciated.

I live in Peru 🇵🇪. I'm retired 100% disabled Vietnam Era Veteran. My son's grandmother on his fathers side has a lot of off grid land a couple hours from where we live. This would be perfect to take up there to stay in while we build. In the future it can be for visitors . We have a lot of carpenters in the family .So thanks for the directions and ideas. I think I'd go for a max air fan, and rv type windows with screens. Don't need air conditioning but for sure a heat source . I has that same toilet for many years in my van in the usa. Up on Grandma's land they use an out house. Same one for 18 years. They are just now making a new one. I need one near my bed though. thanks again ❤ from Grandma in Peru 🇵🇪

I traded construction work for a free room. It was an awesome experience. Beautiful mountains and country. Loved to see you cute little trailer in action. Your family looked so happy--your daughter is proud of your hard work! I've been watching videos of DIY, conversions and corporations' builds. There are only a few things you don't have that they do. You said you need to have projects to do so I figure you will be adding things? Or not--you made such a wonderful vehicle already. 😃💯😄 One company bragged about those cupboards being carpeted inside all the way around--it makes it quieter as you drive down the road --the stuff inside stays put better with a carpeted bottom to the cupboard. If you ever decide to add carpeting (esp for cold weather)--unless you already did? You could use left over pieces to carpet the bottom of the cabinet. Any carpeting could be removable in summer if you wanted...let everything dry out before putting it back. Finally, there is an awning, if you find yourself without a project--and some people put little detachable awnings on each larger window (not the round ones--you have those perfect circles that block sun)--trying to keep inside temperatures down by shading the sunniest windows. It might hep to cool it with the AC if sunshine were not directly hitting it. I also saw someone have an outdoor table they attach to the side of a trailer--it slid into or onto what looked like a piece of trim, then 2 legs fit into fittings on the underside of the last 2 corners of the table top. The legs were adjustable, so that the table would be flat when attached to the trailer. Please don't take these as insults-- your trailer is perfect. It was only that you said you loved (or felt compelled to have projects?) projects...and I'd seen these ideas on RUclips. Your trailer looked so perfect in the campground under the trees... It looked like a little home. I really liked the mountain stripes...like a logo. Your family fit so perfectly too. Thanks for sharing!

I watched your build video too, this thing is awesome, the things I would add would be, pull out stairs that are attached to the trailer, add knobs to the grommet holes on circle window covers, put a thermometer in your hillbilly water heater and raise where the flame is so it’s not right over the wood to avoid any accidents. That’s just my opinion but it really is a perfect build. 👌🏻
Best thing about your custom build is that although it may have it's own problems of whatever kind in the future - you built it and can address it. Factory built RVs are the bane of the industry these days regarding problems - even right off the line, with service delays, parts shortages, warranty disputes, and far too many stories where people pay 150k+ for something they buy and never drive for the first year or more that they own it. Beautiful work as well, not just functional! :)

My job was to fix popped trim, replace defective water pumps, glue down wallpaper, etc. Then prepare them for sale. It was eye opening. Still, I admire the brands and industry and recently enjoyed an RV convention. Some of the new models are incredible.

Glad to see you changed the AC!! It would not have worked as originally installed! My friends and I have been using a similar water heater system, but we used a submersible pump right in the heated water, and had a long meat thermometer to monitor the water temperature, and had a small tent for a shower. We were tent camping, and riding off road motorcycles and bikes, so got sweaty and HAD to have a shower! Nice looking build
You asked for painting suggestions, here goes: navy blue and white-ish. I used a whitewash then wiped it down. It was called “pickling. You apply the whitewash with a cloth, and then wipe it off/rub it in. This method allows the beautiful wood to be see-actually highlights the wood features. Paint the now brown parts of the camper navy-blue in semi-gloss. You could also paint the wooden strips white/almond in semi-gloss or whitewash/pickle them too. I enjoyed your video about making the camper, and meeting your family ❤❤❤I’m looking forward to the next project 😊

Nice job.😊 for the bathroom window. Buy waterproof material and small flat magnetic. Inlay magnetic into the wood. Sew or glue, make a curtain out waterproof material. Sew or glue the magnetic to the material. Easy up Easy down.

Looks like you guys will continue to create and have some great family memories in that little camper. 💞 Hey what about those peel & stick privacy sheets for the bathroom window? I think it'll be a great space saver & prevent people from seeing in all while letting light in at the same time. Maybe even put a small shelf there after for shower products? They have some really nice ones too that look like stained glass etc.
Both of those are really good ideas, and we'll likely add the peel and stick at some point. I was a little aprehensive about adding it, at first, due to it changing the way the camper would look on the exterior. I thought that grey windows would throw it off, but now I am of the mindset of just using what works. Thanks for checking out this video, too!
I think it’s a great DIY build ! The bigger axle was my concern also . Now you can add some stabilizer jacks . Then unhook on your next camping trip if you wanted! Thanks for sharing your little adventure!😁🇺🇸🇺🇸

Nice little camper. Something caught my eye on another channel they had a freestanding a/c heat pump tucked in a little nook and the 4 inch round ducted to the outside this looked like a clean and tidy way for heat and a/c. Cheers and good luck.
I'd sure like to know what model that is so I could have a look at it. I'm building one now and may use something different for cooling. The mini splits just seem giant in relation to the size of the camper. Thanks for watching!

We were tent camping, and riding off road motorcycles and bikes, so got sweaty and HAD to have a shower!

You asked for painting suggestions, here goes: navy blue and white-ish. I used a whitewash then wiped it down. It was called “pickling. You apply the whitewash with a cloth, and then wipe it off/rub it in. This method allows the beautiful wood to be see-actually highlights the wood features. Paint the now brown parts of the camper navy-blue in semi-gloss. You could also paint the wooden strips white/almond in semi-gloss or whitewash/pickle them too. I enjoyed your video about making the camper, and meeting your family ❤❤❤I’m looking forward to the next project 😊

Nice job.😊 for the bathroom window. Buy waterproof material and small flat magnetic. Inlay magnetic into the wood. Sew or glue, make a curtain out waterproof material. Sew or glue the magnetic to the material. Easy up Easy down.

Looks like you guys will continue to create and have some great family memories in that little camper. 💞 Hey what about those peel & stick privacy sheets for the bathroom window? I think it'll be a great space saver & prevent people from seeing in all while letting light in at the same time. Maybe even put a small shelf there after for shower products? They have some really nice ones too that look like stained glass etc.
Both of those are really good ideas, and we'll likely add the peel and stick at some point. I was a little aprehensive about adding it, at first, due to it changing the way the camper would look on the exterior. I thought that grey windows would throw it off, but now I am of the mindset of just using what works. Thanks for checking out this video, too!

I think it’s a great DIY build ! The bigger axle was my concern also . Now you can add some stabilizer jacks . Then unhook on your next camping trip if you wanted! Thanks for sharing your little adventure!😁🇺🇸🇺🇸

Nice little camper. Something caught my eye on another channel they had a freestanding a/c heat pump tucked in a little nook and the 4 inch round ducted to the outside this looked like a clean and tidy way for heat and a/c. Cheers and good luck.
I'd sure like to know what model that is so I could have a look at it. I'm building one now and may use something different for cooling. The mini splits just seem giant in relation to the size of the camper. Thanks for watching!

I believe that I saw you driving through Ranson heading out to go camping on the second trip. The camper looks great! I think the weather really wants to test the sealer on that wood since it keeps raining while you are camping. 😂
