Thank you for spraying the top edges of your window and door casings. There are entirely too many painters out there that don’t paint them. It drives me nuts!
Your work is impeccable. Real solid technique.
You are the man xc. Nice work, as always.
Very solid technique!
Awesome video! Loved the technique and the music was very nice!
you work very fast and very professional
Quality technique mate. Very similar to the way I spray, just with one less pass.
Bien votre vidéo et bien la protection en kraft 👍👍👍
Yaaaaayyyyyy 1000 WTG congrats You're on your way
Arthur Morehead thanks man. Keep up the good work too!
Nice job XC !!!
Thanks man!
very good ! i like to change it up to use less paint , 3/11 2/13 on smaller trim , great demonstration !
Great job, DuraPoxy is good stuff, very durable finish. I’ve been using Cabinet Coat INSL-X Urethane Reinforced Acrylic lately, drys fairly fast and super smooth finish.
Mr G thank you very much. I really like Cabinet Coat as well. Great product for spraying.
I sprayed same way like you do good job 👍
Awesome buddy thanks!!
Sí sabe le enseñé bien jaja good yob bro
Nice job
Thank you
Am just getting in the game
Great video and love the music selection. Are you doing two (2) coats on this millpack?
Brian Mowers Thanks Brian, yep doing 2 coats
I would like to try the Kelly Moore paint but the nearest dealer is 600 miles away in Kansas city.
👍
Impressive gun control 👍🤓 btw, what hand masker do you recommend, 3M or Trimaco?
Garciamrcool Thank you! I prefer the 3m masker.
Great video, thank you. Do you still using BM oil based undercoat primer?
Not every job but I will be using it again soon.
XX is that tip a Titan sc6 fine finish 410 purple top color? I just ordered one.
I purchased an airless sprayer that I just finished painting the exterior of my house with. Seeing as I am finally going to paint interior of my house as well I was curious about using the airless sprayer to do so. My question is. Does it take longer to mask everything off in order to use the airless sprayer or would the old paint brush and roller be faster seeing as I would have to mask everything off?
It could take longer to mask and spray if you're not used to doing it. Depends on what you're painting too. If your trim is very nice and smooth now you might want to spray it. For wall painting, obviously brush and roll is the usual way
I know you mask off the walls and turn up paper, but is that enough to control overspray? Last time I tried, I still got a slight outline... what could I be missing?
It does take a bit of control and a close spray technique... as well as certain areas of wall need to be accounted for (covered), when there's an adjacent wall close. Some of these homes have dust from the carpenters and everything gets dusted down before the client move in.
Did you finish walls and ceilings first then tape wall then spray wood work?
Yes
💦반갑습니다,수고하십니다,항상건겅하시고 복받으시길바랍니다,,,Elastic coating (탄성코트)work on veranda wall....
Hi. Great job and tecnique!
Just One question... About the runs..does it happen?
Thank you.. no runs on this whole job 👍
Hi. Today i had manny runs...i'm doing something wrong.... I use a 311 tip in a empresa Wagner 350. I think im to slow for that tip
@@joaoferraz9371 possibly yup 410 is nice
Lower your pressure and get a practice piece to adjust on
@@joaoferraz9371 .11 size are great. I typically use .211 for trim . If you are in a high humidity area you can get runs. If that is the case plan on multiple coats very thin , move quick and dont worry about coverage . Sometimes 3 -4 thin coats is needed to avoid the runs .
Hi great job and video just came across your video, do you not get runs on baseboards / skirting boards as you went across the one length under the window about 6 times back and forward , how does that not run for you ??
Thank you very much. I didn't get any runs since it's a fine finish tip, I move relatively quickly, and the raw mdf soaks up the paint a little bit. Also depends on the paint, which Dura-poxy can run but not as easy as many others.
@@XCPainter , Hi Bud , i've sprayed woodwork years ago just starting get back to it been away from that part of spraying good few years , i've done some doors and ran few months back with 310 tip green graco and pressure wasn't that high probably around 1500 psi ,with a Dulux satin finish water bone paint
@@nialloconnor5321 310 tip works pretty good for a lot of people.. I do like 410 since it spreads the same amount of paint out a little more. The fflp work good at 1350-1450 psi for me but that is higher than recommended. What works for us is what matters most though. I'm not sure, but I think I've heard Dulux is a little bit thin??
@@XCPainter thanks for your reply appreciate it , only paint really builders will use when they supply for you here in Ireland / UK this side of Europe is Dulux or Crown paint
@@nialloconnor5321 just adjust your spray method as needed and that's the most important step. You can always spray quicker or lighter. (Like when I had to learn to spray water based lacquer on vertical surfaces!!! Runs Soooooo easy!!
Are your undercoat and top coats products applied by spray oil base ? Or you only spray Acrylics ?
Regards
Sometimes we use/spray oil based primer. Rarely use oil top coats anymore but would if we had to.
This is Acrylic top coats here.
So is there any particular reason why you don't spray oil base top coats anymore ? And why have you converted to acrylic top coats ?
@@BobHawke100 in my area there's just not a high demand for oil topcoats and it's more expensive, and takes a long time to gas-off. I'd imagine it's sometimes still desired but it's known that a Alkyd white finish will "yellow" in time.
XC Painter
Do you use the oilbase primer purely for better adhesion properties? Or does this help you achieve a better finish when applying acrylic top coats ?
- does a airless sprayer with a hea fine tip atomise the paint enough to achieve optimal results ? AND on your expert honest professional opinion which base gives you the best and most durable finish ?
@@BobHawke100 I use a particular oil primer (not the average stuff), Ben Moore Fresh Start 217 oil enamel undercoater, because it is a slow dry, so it levels out or lays out nicely over several hours. It adheres well, seals the prepwork (fillers) and raw mdf/wood, without raising the mdf grain like most waterborne primers. It sands well, unlike most waterborne primers.
Titan HEA are not fine finish tips. Titan FF (410, 310, 408, 308) Purple SC6+ are fine finish tips that work very well for achieving excellent results. Those are regular pressure tips like 1700-2000 psi or wherever you need the pressure at.
Most Oil base finish coats are going to have a unique feel and long lasting, cleanable finish. But they yellow which.
There are some waterborne that compete very well and their ease of use and lack of lacquer thinners or other solvents make them ideal.
Hi, I am a beginner wanted to learn spraying, how can i eliminate drops? Everytime i pressed the gun i always have drop. Thank you.
Drops (or spits) will happen when you grab the trigger or let go of the trigger. With fine finish work, make sure the gun is not pointed at work surface when you let go of trigger.
Another way that drips occur that you can help, is making sure the housing seal is the correct one and good condition, and that there's no paint build up in front of the housing...
Hopefully it is all tight.
Message back if you have more questions, thanks
Any trick to getting tape and mask off without also peeling paint? You are letting the first coat dry with mask on, right? Thanks. (I'm about to use spray gun for 1st time on home project.)
There are several factors involved that determine the success of unmasking and not pulling paint with it.
First of course is the type of tape used, delicate or regular adhesion... second, unmasking technique, pulling tape at a certain angle (sharp angle) helps...
Most importantly is what is underneath the tape, how well the surface was prepped, primed and painted before it was masked. If it was sanded, cleaned, primed with quality primer, 1 or 2 coats of paint with ample dry time between coats...
Quality of paint... does it have good adhesion... decent dry time or long dry time meaning it takes longer to cure before being safe to tape ovee
And also environment factors, like is the interior really humid from sprayin still or has the area been aired out, letting everything dry out including the drywall mud under all those products and tape ...
Timing... let stuff dry in my opinion so the products have set up, etc.
Tape placement... can't be bridging up onto your paint area, or too close, along with other factors.
I would always leave masking on for multiple coats. Also I leave masking on for extended periods of time for jobsite efficiency and logistics involved. Usually have excellent success with no paint pull.
@@XCPainter Are 3M 2020 and 3M 2090 tapes good enough to unmask after paint dries?
I had various luck with pulling tape during infrequent painting projects. Then I saw some Idaho Painter videos, and I believe he said that he always pull tape with wet paint. So I thought that's what the pros do. Now, it's very interesting to see you just leave mask until paint dries. I was struggling to figure out how I could spray a house efficiently if I pull mask with wet paint. Thanks for your detailed comments. You don't have many videos, but I find them very informative. Really like like your door spraying system.
@@yusuihang 2090 is pretty good for the delicate or painted surfaces, the 2020 would be good for taping over other masking paper and plastic, or hard to stick surfaces
@@XCPainter Thanks! You're a gentleman. Best to you
Hey is it always Better to paint Trims first before you do Walls etc.?
No it's not always better. It depends on the client and the job scope. Painting walls second does leave a nice fresh paint job for custom homes. On the job in this video, walls are dusty from the carpenter and other trades so they get cleaned when the house is done.
XC PainterThank you for the Tip I like your videos I just started a small painting & Restoration business I have a lot of experience in kitchen Restoration and cabinetry I have done very little work on panting homes so your videos really help me very much thank you 🙏
Whats best tape to use to mask ???
JBIRD575 People like different tapes, but 3m 2090 works great for us most of the time. We use a lot of IPG/intertape PG5 1.5" wide.
WHAT TIP SIZE AND PRESSURE, SORRY THE BIG LETER ARE STUCK
Titan 410 ff 1800 psi
Its oil based or water based?
Nando Gaytan waterborne, Durapoxy satin
Where is your suit and /or long sleaves Congrats bro only 1 more subscriber!!!!!
If you held the gun horizontally it would give you more control at the end of the run and save your back.
Looks good
Thanks for the feedback. My technique is quite effortless for me on these type of window trims.
About what psi you spraying? thanks.
WordAboveAll about 1800 or so
Looks to me like you feathered off so much that you put hardly any paint on the right hand side of the top on that box under that window at the beginning of of the video.
Hi, thanks for the feedback. Looks are deceiving when it comes to spray pattern in the videos. It got plenty of paint on that window seat.
Lol back seat driver
@@jakecattle7 Yeah ...I get that alot.
XX is that tip a Titan sc6 fine finish 410 purple top color? I just ordered one.
Yes that was the purple 410 ff sc6+. Pressure was at 2000 with 100ft line
XC Painter I just received my purple 410 tip and I am looking for a project to use it on. I’ll push it up to 2000 and see how the pattern looks. 👍
