To anyone that doesn't know... You can get an add on screen that attaches to the xss. It draws power from the xbox.. This screen has components inside to make this possible. This man thought plugging a cable from xss to an external laptop / or screen would work in the same way and broke his xss. The proper attachment screen for the xss was in development for years. All the correct components to work properly drawing power from the xss.. Basically with all the things he plugged in all together wasn't going to work. You had an external HDD connected drawing power.. Then tried to power an external monitor from USB. Then put power into that external monitor.. Can you see the problem?
Smh 😂😭
Edit: use your consumer products as intented,, it may harm or even kill you
I understand what happened now
Please continue backing the XSS. It’s amazing. Watching all your videos about how great it is is really satisfying. Also please update us on what happened to it so we can prevent it from happening to our XSS.
I fully intend to
I think the external screen shorted out something in your power supply of your Xbox. Just a thought.
Thank God you have the series S and not the series X because you would be shit out of luck
Don’t get discouraged man these things happen. Sometimes it’s just luck of the draw with hardware. Get your S fixed and I say keep talking about it as a great value system but now with the caveat is this a fluke or a wide spread issue. Keep the vids coming 👍🏻
Oh for sure.
Original Xbox was my first Xbox console and my previous one. When i purchased it in 2001 ( halo combat evolved and midtown madness 3 bundle) it had a driver issue so i had to sent it back in first week. I had a replacement ( as i realized) two days later so i could resume the Xbox experience. When a specific model is sold out everywhere like series x and ps5 i wonder if one of these devices have issues that can not get repairs and the only solution is the replacement, how this thing will come true?
I've had my xbox for 4 days and loving it and I'm glad you can send it to get fixed.
Yea. I am documenting the process to make sure you all know how it is
@@jdxcoffee can't wait to see how it does
@Julien Melnick what is the name of the 4k 14 inch display screen you used with your series s that led to not work?
This is what happens when you use unlicensed 3rd party peripherals. There's always a risk. The same would've happened with xsx / ps5. You always taking that risk!!!!
Only use licensed products. Products that Sony and Microsoft approve.
I've had series S since March 2020 and use it 12 to 16 hrs a day ( gaming / music / streaming.) It's amazing box for $299. It never makes a sound. Can't say that about Playstation...
Early in January I came home from hospital so I can't do anything but sit around and pass out. So one week in January I couldn't keep my eyes open for more then 3 hrs at a time so for 3 days the console without issue. Doesn't get hot or make a sound and I never clean it.
So don't listen to anyone who says series s is a waste or a trash console. It's amazing console . It's the best console on the market for its price point.
If anything it’s more durable than series x. Less heat produced. No disc drive that can break
@@ducethe2nd246 series x was a terrible design. Literally stacked closed together and blocked 75% of your air intake with that giant circular stand at the bottom
Series s doesn't have that issue nothing obstructing the air intake so it just runs better ( meaning more cooler / efficient)
I believe this more than ever now
Part of the reason I bought the Series S was you dude! Your passion for gaming and consoles in particular and how you showed the Series S is a great value buy. Sucks to hear about your console. I fully believe Microsoft will rectify the situation and you'll be back gaming and doing what you love. Thanks for the content and thanks for your full honesty on this.
And I must clarify, your series s breaking in no way changes my opinion on the series s. It is still a GREAT BUY and a GREAT CONSOLE. Just bad luck on your end.
I learned the limits of the tech. Also I used it improperly so that's why it broke
@@jdxcoffee it happens. Live and learn
Your support of the S is amazing💪🏻. Everyone is just on the series X and ps5. I have the series X and S and I appreciate you backing the little guy.
My ps5 had the green screen of death last week. Fixed it but rebuilding the database but that's the thing with technology. You never know when they will fail. They can work flawlessly one day, but on another day there may be a problem.
I'm mostly a pc gamer and I know pc has its fair share of issues, but I like that if something goes wrong I know how to diagnose that problem and fix it most of the time.
Consoles are very compact and are difficult to take apart and put it back together as we all know. It can sometimes be a pain having to send it back to Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo or whatever to have a console fixed and wait a week or two feeling disappointed.
I'll wait to see what they recommend
Speaking (well, writing) as a PCB designer for industrial machines, it is clear that you simply overloaded the machine, and the power supply just could not handle so much juice. I'm not surprised really. And a 4k screen draws more power than a 1080p, that is also to be noted. In my humble opinion, this was on the cards.
I finally got to buy the xbox after one of your videos, had it for a month now, and I am super happy with it!
I’m stoked that you are loving it!!
@@jdxcoffee sincerely hope you get up and running with the little marvel once again!
I guess it's the switch ' s relay that get burnt from the way the led got light up and instantly turned off. I hope you get it back asap. Microsoft was the one they announced they will give the right to repair in a spot of your reference? They have not let this on at the moment?
We will see what happens
Got it, so don't power my external portal monitor via usb A to usb C connector straight from the series S?
Maybe SSD is Bricked or Corrupted.
I guess the portable displays maybe were too much for the psu in the xbox series s over time.....
Yes
When I turn on my series s this morning there was a spark and it started smoking. Now I’m Sad :( and I don’t wanna buy a new one . It don’t even turn on at all.
is it still in warranty?
@@jdxcoffee I have no idea how do I Check ?
Don't plug 3rd party stuff into your Xbox mate... It would still be alive and kicking...
Can't blame the Xbox for that.. Blame those who made the screen..(on a side note, i wouldn't advertise them if thats what they do to consoles mate, sounds like they need to do more testing first)..
I don't think they were ever intended to be plugged into the system itself. We will see
so moral of the story is don't plug-in accessories that are 3rd party too the xbox then RIGHT ?
That's why I haven't upgraded yet, when I bought the One S , it did the same in less than a year of use. I knew it would do the same with the Series S. Just keep pressing the power button until it turns on. It's a power supply issue or a motherboard power failure.
Should be under warranty still right?
We will see
Xbox warranties are 2 years I believe?...But I could be wrong on that
I just bought a new series s last month and registered it on Microsoft devices webpage. The warranty is only for 1 year. I already had to send my controller in that came with the console because the d-pad wasn’t working properly. The process is very simple and fast and I’ll be getting a new replacement in the mail tomorrow.
If you can still like the series s after breaking it, then the series s must be worth the trouble. I look forward to hearing about how we can care and maintain our console as well from your experience
For sure. I'll keep you updated
@Chesi _7_0_7 I really don't care if it came from China. Still enjoying the same games as my brother with his series x. Haven't got a Nintendo past the first wii might look into getting a switch when I've got my business running well.
@@crrctd7464 I meant by China to cheap components parts, wifi cards that break in a year faullty power supply etc, not becuz it was Chinese, geez,
@Chesi _7_0_7 no I understood what you meant. Generally, Chinese manufactured goods are cheap but it doesn't always mean it isn't worth it.
Hello!!! I am new follower now!!! great video have you figure out what was wrong with you xbox?? reason I ask is because I also have the same issue. I will appreciate if you can tell me the secret thank you.
I had to send it in and they never told me. I think it was a short due to overloading the ports with external displays
@@jdxcoffee yeah Microsoft doesn't really help. I haven't figure out either. It sucks, may I should try replacing the power supply. Well thank you for the feedback..
So if I don’t plug in displays through my Xbox series s I should be fine then?
yes
I have my lil fella since day one ( Xbox Series S ) and never came across a single issue..?
Feel bad for those that dont have luck with theirs.
For me my Xbox crashes 8 out of ten times when it’s downloading games. Once this happens it disconnects from xbox live and it takes like 1 days for me to reconnect to Xbox live
Damn should I be worried if I have the exact same external hard drive as you for my XSS? Or is it just the XSS malfunctioning on its own?
It’s the display
It's not clear from the video, as reflected in several comments... did you try to power a device through the xss which actually required its own separate power supply?
And this caused some sort of power surge which fried something in the xbox?
Yip he fried the xss. With trying to connect the external laptop / screen. Then first then Pluggedit in. With external hdd and power to the laptop screen all connected together.
I believe this is what did the xbox in yes
Mine won’t even beep and just flashes then turns off
Mine use to randomly shut off. And i thought it was broken until i learned that. Plugging it into the wall is a must vs a power outlet Surge protector. Idk why to this day but meh
I think I messed mine up
Haven't had any issues ever with console plugging into a proper surge protector
@@dukenukeman probably because mines older? Idk all i know is when i use to it would shut off. And when i looked on xbox for info they said the wall is better for it.
Im a pc player and I've thought about getting the new xbox to see what the hype is I would get the xbox series x is it worth it ?
If you got the money than yeah.
I think the s is a great machine still
How powerful is ur pc?
Did you fry your Xbox series S with all those extra add-ons you put on.
Hope you get your Series S fixed. Definitely enjoy your videos on the Series S. If it weren't for your videos, I would have never bought a Series S last year.
I am stoked I could help. I think this will help people learn what NOT to do as well.
Hold the power and sync button at the same time until you here a double beep and a screen will pop up then reset the console it works trust
My series s hasn't moved or been unplugged since I bought it.
Do you think you handle it too much?
Yes, but that’s not what bricked it. It was his experimenting that did that.
@@JC-li8kk I only watched half the video. 😅
Yes
Unfortunately the console will have fan noises and coil whine why because I replaced my first one and the new one still has noises there goes my warranty
That’s a bummer. We all know how you enjoy the Series S as do I with my XSS. Wonder if it has anything to do with the HD or monitor hooked up. I only use the proprietary SSD card & hope that I don’t have that issue. Hopefully MS will get it fixed and you’ll be back to your old self. Question is will you continue to use external devices in your XSS? Hmmmm
I will only use devices that don’t require power. Aside from a HD all other accessories will be independently powered
@@jdxcoffee I hear you man, just thinking if that happened to my XSS I’d probably have flashbacks/second thoughts about plugging anything at all in to my XSS. Maybe you’ll get info from MS on what caused the problem and you can share with your viewers? Cheers
I'm just amazed how everyone seems to think its somehow microsofts fault like they have something to fix. Lmao wtf is happening in this world, he's a tech guy so its on him over loading the xbox n its on the company he sounds like he was sponsored by to make sure thats more clear.
If its anybodies fault but his own, its his sponsor that makes that screen for not making it clear.
I bought a Xbox series s in July its dead already..... turning on but not connecting to tv...
send it back
My Xbox series S overheating alot recently 😢so gonna have buy new one
Wait I’m confused how did it die ? Was it because of the screen ?
It was indeed
The my xbox Is dead stream was pretty neat tho
It was. Let’s keep the gangs going.
Man I have my Xbox series s powering my portable monitor I’ll have to use a separate power source from now on
I’m not fully sure, but it might be something to do with the ssd.
my friend yanked the cord out of the wall and then my series s when i would go to the home screen it would go black for like 6 secs then go to the home screen but maybe it is because it was on a different tv and it was 4k so it might of had to load the textures or sum thing
and i was using his ps4 hdmi
Interesting
Now I’m paranoid about mine 😅
I feel you, its like you cant connect it to anything lol
***Laughs in RGB***
Kidding though. RIP Julien’s series S
RIP
So your external hardrive broke the Xbox ?
I think it was a combo of HD and Monitor
So, Im confused. Did the Series S get fried from that monitor?
I believe it did but don't know
I'm bad in English what happen to this Xbox? How he's dead?
plugged too much into it
Thats SUCKS. I hope it gets repaired.
It shoudld
Is this the new red ring? I’m calling it the chime of death.
hahah let's hope not
Let me tell you the same Exact thing Happened to my Series S But I had a Warranty at Gamestop and they had to give me a new Series S and I Bought Another 2 year warranty just incase I have problems with this one.I hope this Doesn't become a Normal Issue because I Like my Series S but if this Continues I will just by a ps5 and stop supporting Xbox.
How long did it take to happen?
@@ahmadsoror3440 Actually One year luckily i had a 2 year warranty
@@ministermadden i don't think that this is a coincidence , a lot of people have faced this issue after one year of using it, locally the series s has only a 1year of warranty which you can't extend so i'm hesitant about getting it also thanks for your feedback!
@@ahmadsoror3440 your better off just getting a ps5 or Series X they are more Expensive but Worth it.
This isn't a Xbox problem
The external screen is guilty for sure!
Oh yea
This is just like the xbox 360 issue
I had my series S since February and I love it
The motherboard got damaged you should replace it I'm an engineer
I wanted to buy series s , now i change my mind
Don't worry just take care of your xss and don't use 3rd party hardware, my xss have been a blast for it's price.
I would still get one.
Idk man im one of the unlucky ones
@@alpinthor wdym 3rd party hardware , like what parts
@@stormbreaker82 xscreen etc, i think it is what makes the internal PSU blown. Maybe we should plug the external monitor not on the console it self but directly to power plug.
Guys if your a sires s gamer who doesn’t have the xxs don’t worry
Sure it isn't the thermal? Series S is known to have trash and gunked thermal applied. Ive seen it harden up on several occasions.
I’m not. I will see what the REAL problem is once I send it in
Yes. My Xbox One X kept powering off during startup of any X enhanced games that made the system sound like a jet engine going off. So I did my homework on the internet & youtube to get to the bottom of the issue, and it turned out it was the thermal paste applied to the chip when it came from the factory. So I watched tutorials on youtube about how to take apart the One X and clean the dry paste off of the chip and reapplied Artic 5 thermal paste and then put it all back together (the whole system had been dismantled) Once everything was back together I powered it on, booted up all of the games that had been causing it to power off...and now it works perfect! Quiet as can be as well!...and we are 4 months in now since I did this repair. So the issue could be his thermal paste or internal hard drive failed...but we will see.
Tbh I don't think the series s was meant to be running these brand new triple A games especially with quick resume. People please stop being cheap and get a series x.
It absolutely was. This was not why it failed.
A series X like 800$ rn if you really want one
@@TimDespairBear11 Yeah "IF" you can get a series X. But I do admit I am to cheap to get the playstation 5 here in sweden, only available for around 1200$ Thats a huge profit for the scalpers...Not paying them shizzle
So sorry Julien 😞 but maybe buy a xbox series x I have one also and a playstation 5 digital these consoles sure are not the old ones.
It isn't a reflection of the series s it is because I overloaded the power
My serious s I've been playing for over a year and not one issue
And you won't if used properly
@@jdxcoffee love your channel bro
The series s is great..its your own fault for breaking it not the xbox it self btw...
Rip.
Yea..
Red Ring of Death 2.0 maybe?
nah. just a dumb mistake
Sorry hear that
All Good
🤣🤣🤣🤣now Idk if I wanna buy one I have a ps5 but I juss wanna play forza that’ll be the only reason I buy one but if it breaks down that’s a waste of money man
It’s probably because you downloaded a lot of games

That's sucks man
Yea it does
This is why it's dead 1:09
