man. as a kid growing up, this was one of the games i absolutely mastered. i knew all the tricks, all the different bosses, how to get to all the different levels. i wish i had been able to watch this live, however, sleep is extremely important.
nice run! especially that star wolf fight, that one can be a pain.
Same, I've played this game to death, ever since I was a 1st or 2nd grader I've had this entire game memorized in my brain, I've gotten every medal, something on the 3DS version which I actually did pretty recently
The dance party bit was hilarious. Props for making this run so entertaining to watch.

All-Time Nintendo classic, I feel like Star Fox has been getting the short end of the stick in recent years. Nothing ever got quite to the level of this one since.
@@MrGeorgeFlorcusthe issue I've taken with moder star fox is that none of it feels as loose and as fast paced at 64 was, plus the different routes you can take really add replay value, and the medal challenges were actually challenging and took alot of skill to achieve and made you feel good when you got them

I remember watching his GDQ submissions over the years, they often were very impressive runs in of themselves that I think he even either PB'd during or almost PD'd during.

This game. Is one of the best. EVER! Loved playing this game, got good enough to know you could get medals on Easy Venom, just not good enough to actually do it. This is one of the most hype games to see for me!

I used to love playing this game through without losing a wing ever, but, NEVER tried at harder difficulties, lol
I didnt even know my absolute favourite childhood game could be speedran :D
blew my mind back in '97, maybe beat it twice before I knew about the alternate paths, took me years before I could finally beat it on the Red Paths.
one question though, how is he playing as James McCloud?

Well i just see 1 wing missing in the cutscene after, so I guess it didnt took one away
Nairad there was definitely two missing in the cutscene, they fold in while it says Mission Accomplished but you can tell the left is missing due to the lack of length
The funny thing is i still own an N64 and have this very game. It's even in the cartridge right now. I bought the N64 about a month ago to revisit some old, but classic and fun games.

When Pigma says “you can’t beat me, I’ve got a better ship” on Expert mode he’s actually telling the truth, their ships are just as good if not better than easy mode but your shop sucks way more.
It's been a little bit since I played, but against the defense station boss you can dodge his rainbow laser if you start in the top right and then move to the bottom right after it starts to fire. I might be remembering wrong though.
@Lylat R When you said it was unavoidable, did you mean without losing frames, or just in general?
The alternate routes were crazy as a kid..
I recall that dodging the laser is possible. I remember doing it when i owned the game.
It's possible but you lose frames while doing so.
I love this game gotta go on the left side at the end the train one was hard when I was like 12

How does that softlock you mentioned at the end occur?
That's what I'd like to know as well since it was never explained.
After you destroy the last member of Star Wolf, if Fox is in a specific location on the map when the cutscene to enter the tunnel starts, there is a possibility he will just continue to circle around the tunnel entrance without entering it. You cannot pause the game to restart the level and Fix will never enter to fight Andross so your only option is to reset the game at that point.

This is an amazing run. I have watched all the popular GDQ runs but some how this one slid by me. Any run with zallard on the couch is going to be good but man this is great.

Wait, there's an expert mode? I played this game for years and never knew about it.
You unlock it after earning a medal in every level. By the way both Venom stages share the same medal so you only need to do one.

Expert Mode unlocks by earning a medal in every single stage in The game.
You get a medal when you score points, when The number gets Red it means you earned The medal of The stage you are playing.
it's just a bonus unlock for expert mode. it's fox with his dad's sunglasses
By playing on Expert Mode Fox will wear the sunglasses.
