i like that the portraits arent fully randomized unto themselves. like how a team member's life bar will always be over them or how Andross' portrait comes with the red text box.
I like how slippy fecking dies, team says they'll go look for him, so they go back to same level. Couldn't dang find him, so they cut their losses and then got high. Afterwards Slippy is gone for iirc the entire rest of the game, shows up at venom Slippy had his own side adventure lost in space

i think its cool we are suddenly seeing Starfox 64 have romhack stuff after decades of just nothing at all. like holy shit, there has just literally been nothing until this month it feels. first i saw a "super charged" mod and now we have a randomizer too.
It's like we're in a N64 renaissance. Romhacks, decomps, recomps, ports, randomizers, speedruns, and all the stuff we dreamed about as kids. Full-fledged custom story modes for SM64, Custom OOT dungeons, a "Master Quest" mode for Paper Mario, and now, actual mods for SF64! I think we now have a generation of amateur and professional programmers who grew up on these games and are now able to work on these sorts of things as "passion projects" in their free time, just as previous generations did (and continue to do) with 8 and 16-bit console games.
I think peppy is the true villain and pigma was a spy of star fox in star wolf. Peppy just said himself that he has the brain to rule lylat and androsses enemy is his enemy . He even challenged fox in sector Z
I love Whisker Squadron but it's really more a random/roguelite shooter first with some starfox elements, an indie game that's more directly "starfox-ish" I'd say is Ex-Zodiac (though it has other stuff like pretty obvious space harrier levels, etc)

While the robot legs thing was conclusively disavowed and debunked by Nintendo representatives, the early Star Fox artwork which spawned the fan theory clearly depicts mechanical legs. We can chalk that one up to "artistic license". It's still a pretty rad theory though, if you ask me.
I think On-Foot segments can be done but it needs to stay a rail shooter. Look at Sin & Punishment for example. If On Foot segments worked like that there would be no issue.
Just got in the video and as far as I can tell, the plotline goes like this: Andross switched bodies with Peppy and gave Peppy slippy's voice to make it more confusing, the crew accidentally stumbles into Pepper's secret vacation spot, he's embarrassed enough to try to kill them and make them get stuck in an ever lasting sector loop

I recommend Whisker Squadron: Survivor. It doesn't have the same weightiness when it comes to feedback, but it's a really good time for Star Fox fans!
