Hey guys, some comments: - Coen is an amazing keyboardist, indeed, probably my favourite too - He IS actually playing the flaming piano in the song, since that’s an actual Live concert (meaning all playing together in that studio) - Both guitarrists are playing a 7 string guitar - That song is fucking amazing, really a masterpiece
Hi both guitarists play 7 string guitars, Isaac's Les Paul is indeed a 7 string, take another look :) and the bass player Rob uses a 5 string Dingwall bass, so they all have the addition of an extra low B string, one of the reasons why their riffs are so chunky!
What a composition, what an epic band. If you see them live with orchestra that will amaze you even more and more. And if you are interested: he plays the Roland FA8 with the Integra-7 stack. That weird keyboard is the NuMotion Revo-1
@@SueSueandthewolfman You already got a "No" but maybe with some flowers, bonbons, message. But wolfman, it is always and everywhere the same. Also here in The Netherlands. I dont know if you have a saying/phrase for this but we always say: The man is the head of the family, but the woman the neck and when the neck goes sideways the head will comply...but we know man always be boys at the end and do it anyway, haha
He wants onnnnnnnnnnnneeeee! Suesue, please...let the guy order what he wants, hahah! Side note: Jean Michel Jarre, for what I know, was the first to use such types of keyboard...especially live.
Love this song and here is some info : Coen Janssen is the keyboardist and one of the founding members of Dutch Symphonic Metal band Epica. As a young boy his attention was drawn to the piano and at the age of 8 he started taking piano lessons at the local music school. When he finished high school, Coen studied classical piano for two years at the Conservatory of Tilburg (NL) before switching to the popular music Conservatory of Rotterdam (NL) from which he obtained his Bachelor degree in music. As the keyboardist of Epica, Coen recorded five studio albums and several live recordings. He played more than 700 live-shows in over 40 countries all over the world, played every major international (metal)festival or venue and toured extensively in Europe, North America and South America. In 2013, after celebrating Epica's tenth anniversary, touring will take him to new territories; Asia and Australia. Coen is known for his energetic live performance and stage presence. As for the Piano solo : Epica has this to say : For the ‘piano-solo’ we had an extra surprise up our sleeve… playing it while it was on fire! A stunt we could not rehearse since the piano would be destroyed afterwards! Under great guidance from our pyro-crew, we managed to pull it off. Luckily, the part only lasts about 30 seconds since it was extremely hot, as you can imagine! So,... It was real !!!! NWSU/Epican/Ayreonaut 🤘😎🤘.
Saw him during the cd release of the holographic album. Really chill guy. Just like the rest btw. Makes it such a great band, no crazy egos or anything

This song has everything I love about Epica. One of my favourites for sure, every member is so well showcased in this song. The Wolfmans face a couple of times during this haha - I think this is definitely one of the songs that he has enjoyed the most.

I’m not a real Epica fan (yet?!). This one was on my to listen list, so Thank you both. Nice to see the Wolfman so excited. I’m with Suesue this time. Simone sounds so spectacular !!! Different then what I heard so far, less operatic, more rocksound. I already knew she’s a great singer,I love how she sounds here. I know what’s on the menu tonight, part 1 and 2………
The bass is a custom Dingwall "Hellboy", Rob van der Loo Signature model. Here is an in-depth video showing the bass right after Rob got his hands on it from Sheldon Dingwall himself for the first time: ruclips.net/video/ltNN06WPjAI/видео.html
Sue, you brought up such an amazing observation that not many people realize. Often times the focus on female-fronted metal bands is, well, the female... however, in EPICA, Simone is a vital piece to the band JUST as much as all the other guys are, and what they all understand and lend themselves to, is the very need of each composition and the songs themselves. Sometimes Simone disappears from a song for minutes, however, it STILL feels right and enjoyable because other parts of the songs are shining through. The companionship and respect they all share really lives through in their music. Love those guys! Ohh and yes, the flaming piano was actually a live take as well! Thank you guys for reacting!
@@SueSueandthewolfman Hi. The keyboardist name is Coen (read [kun] ) Janssen. He is one of the original members of Epica The other two are Simone and Mark Jansen (the growling guy).
