It’s not the best and the release date getting pushed back multiple times was a little frustrating (as this was my birthday gift to myself, and my only birthday gift). But it was worth the wait. In my mid 20’s I finally got my Hogwarts acceptance letter.
20-50 second loading screens? I’m sorry but I had to deal with a loading screen that lasted more than 10 minutes trying to get to the first charms class. I got around it by having to quit out of the game and reopen it, and thankfully it hasn’t happened twice, so far
I played it on Switch for about a week and it should not run like it does, was so impressed that I could play it in handheld , that I forgot it was seamless in the full console version.
It's also a 2017 handheld. What other handheld exists that can play a game of this caliber, handheld with zero internet connection needed, in 2024? No cloud, no streaming, no download needed. The switch honestly gets so much shade. And for what it is and when it came out. It's so impressive.
It's a miracle they got it running on a Tegra X1 at all. VERY impressive for a mobile chip from *10* years ago, The Tegra X1 was already nearly 3 years old when the Switch came out. 🤯
My girlfriend is currently playing this and she loves it. When it was on sale I offered to buy it for my PC but she just loves the form factor and portability of it on the switch. She plays while we're chilling in bed, on the couch just hanging out, and while its slow at work (which is a work from home job). Every now and then I'll look over and im honestly surprised they did so much to get it to work on switch. At the end of the day, shes a huge fan of the Harry Potter universe and loves the game.
I mistakenly bought the deluxe edition on the switch without looking at the reviews and while the bad graphics and numerous loading screens do bum me out, I'm still having a blast with this game. To me, it still feels like an amazing open world harry potter game which is insane that it's even playable on the switch.
The only reason their is loading screens on switch is because of the hardware capabilities, it’s a miracle they could even get it to run on switch in the first place even if it’s not the best experience.
It is still so very nice for it to be added to switch, though. I don't mind at all if there are so many loading screens if the game play is actually really decent and worthwhile. The patience is definitely worth it, IMO.
They basically turned it into a Bethesda open world. Guess they didn't do enough to optimize it since, outside of shrines, Tears of the Kingdom is completely seamless in its world and it's on the same system.
To be honest here we knew that avalanche Studios would have to make compromises in order to get the game running on Nintendo switch, but it’s quite impressive that they’re able to get the full game working on the switch consul, honestly, the loading screens aren’t a bad thing for me, and honestly it’s not really a big deal. In short, I am very impressed with Hogwarts Legacy on Nintendo switch.
I’m loving this game on switch. The load screens are a pain at times but all in all I would buy again knowing some things are not as fast as I would like.
For the type of games the switch has been getting into, they need to beef up the operating software significantly. Especially with platforms like the ASUS rogue ally and the steam deck available
Sacrifices had to be made to make it playable. Skyrim also has loading screens and it’s an open world game, just because it has loading screens it doesn’t mean it isn’t open world.
So by your definition, any open world game by Bethesda isn't open world either? Sure, it breaks the immersion, but it is not without precedence. I think you've misinterpreted what open world means. You're not going to get the same capabilities on a 6 year old handheld console - which wasn't cutting edge even then - as a PS5.
Probably because of the limited capacity handhelds have much more limited than TV game consuls like the PS five or Xbox series the Nintendo switch is basically a handheld that has the ability to be used like a TV game console
That’s not as bad as I thought it was going to be because on my Xbox one x it takes about the same amount of time minus the load screen. Your character just stands there in front of a loading circle.
You know… I play it on PS4, and there are a lot of doors you have to load through that on PC you don’t. You can just walk through. And I never knew. It’ll be just fine… it doesn’t break immersion at all to have a loading zone. Hogsmeade already couldn’t be flown in, so it was already kind of an interior cell. Having to see a loading screen when walking isn’t a big deal. Because 99% of the time you’re going to fast travel into it, which already has a loading screen. Loading into the shops will kind of suck, but it’s not the end of the world. People just want to complain, and this is all they have since it was a really impressive port.
it’s still open world. new vegas does basically the same thing. loading zones don’t take that away, it’s just that the game isn’t optimized enough to have the whole world load around you, even with LoDs and unloading i suppose
I have such a toxic relationship with Starfield because of that. I hate that it takes a lot of time to do quests because of the loading screens and fast traveling, but at the same time some quests are very good, and getting to unlock skills or new gear is addictive
I’ve almost beaten the game on switch and the loading screens aren’t super hard to deal with the if you don’t spend a whole lot of time in hogsmead. The open world aspect is still there.
The controls are very clunky whenever you wanna switch to the left hand to play on the Xbox Series S/X and Nintendo Switch it doesn’t work at all any suggestions???
I don’t care if it’s not open world anymore. I’m just happy that I got it because when I heard it was coming to switch I was so happy to get it and now I’ve been playing for a while now and hopefully I’ll continue playing it after the main story is done.
Yea thats sucks! I almost bought a switch oled but after realizing how outdated it is for 2023 i got the asus rog ally and am blown away. Granted i have a gaming pc and a xbox series s as well
I wasn’t going to be able to play the game unless it was released on switch, so I’m ok with the loading screens. this is an open world game where I can freely run around, even when I’m in the middle of a quest, so your statement about it not being open world is wrong.
Hogsmeade is definitely the worst part of the Switch version with all the loading, the rest of the world is fine though. Idk why they did the buildings that way in Hogsmeade.
It's obviously inferior to the more powerful platforms, but the fact that they managed to port this game to the Switch at all and make it playable is still pretty impressive ngl
Well... The game is on sale and is only like $20 on Switch so I feel like it's still worth it for a portable version of the game. But other versions on other consoles are going to have better graphics and loading. If you only get the game on one console, the Switch is not the best option, but it's still not too bad. I feel like it's worth it for me to have both a good graphics game to play seriously at home, and a portable one to play a bit more casually.
Well my steamdeck broke yesterday and im going back and forth with the support team about it 😡...im so fkn glad i didnt sell my switch! I havent touched it in a year and getting back to it reminded me how nice it is lol
I love my Switch, but I only use it for Nintendo exclusives and retro gaming. Every once in a while I'll catch a fairly modern port of a AAA game on sale for a few bucks and I'll pick it up; but other than that I steer clear of Switch ports. They're usually clunky and don't play as well as their PS/XB/PC counterparts, and they never look as good.
I think too many ppl believe the switch is a power house unit, that plays their triple A Games... No. If a game was meant for PC, or console. Then of course expect a hit on performance. Switch is where it's at for games like metroid, zelda, pokemon, etc. Which is just as awesome
So pokemon scarlet and violet is also not an open world game cuz there's loading screen on shop, houses, buildings and Gates. Bruhhh it's impressive that they r able to fit this game on the switch
The game shouldnt even exist on switch, but the experience despite being bad its at least playable, one way or another its amazing they managed to get the closest experience possible in a console with smartphone level of tech
My dad bought me the game on switch for Christmas, and to be honest i do not give a shit about the loading screens. Its a very fun game and i havent worried about the loading.
this game is glitch.. i already gain up my level then just because 1 button not available i cant play anymore must play all over again … so frustrating!!!
Ain't got to do with hardware. That's not who bugs me. I take my switch to work to play when it gets slow. Always asking me every time where the wifi at. Why does it need wifi after the game is download and the add-ons.super annoying
Poor switch… they really need to come out with a new system to at least compete with the steam deck. This way they can still play games like this for everyone and not be left behind by studios because the game doesn’t run to well.
I mean it makes sense, as long as it still has all the content and the only issue is a load screen, then I’m fine with that. I won’t be purchasing it myself as I have a PC, however I bet tons of kids will get it for Christmas like the other commenter said, and they will someday maybe even come back to the “real” version
Seriously though, I think they did a great job with this game on switch. I love it and really don’t mind the loading times. That’s just so minor to me. I care more about having fun and enjoying the game

Just the fact that they managed to port this to the Switch is super impressive
I mistakenly bought the deluxe edition on the switch without looking at the reviews and while the bad graphics and numerous loading screens do bum me out, I'm still having a blast with this game. To me, it still feels like an amazing open world harry potter game which is insane that it's even playable on the switch.
Damn I thought those loading screen was always there, didn’t realize you can just go strait to hogsmead without a loading screen on other consoles
If Hogwarts Legacy was made by Bethesda
I get the load screen to enter Hogwarts Castle and hogsmede village, but a load screen per store does get annoying
I have been playing it on OLED switch for the past week or so and have no complaints about the short load screens.
Batman arkham city also have loading screens while entering buildings through doors yet it doesn't make it a less of an open world game
At least it doesn't look like MK1
It’s still open world. You can still go anywhere
So Skyrim isn’t open world? When it’s exactly the same if not longer on the loading screen?
I have it on switch and this function isn’t annoying if your expectations are in the right place.
Series S was also limiting Starfield, which is riddled with loadingscreens..
For the type of games the switch has been getting into, they need to beef up the operating software significantly. Especially with platforms like the ASUS rogue ally and the steam deck available
I understand they gotta make drawbacks but damn the constant loading would kill me 😭
Sacrifices had to be made to make it playable.
I have it on ps5 and switch. It’s perfect for on the go if you’re bored. Better than not being able to play at all.
Probably because of the limited capacity handhelds have much more limited than TV game consuls like the PS five or Xbox series the Nintendo switch is basically a handheld that has the ability to be used like a TV game console
I don’t care honestly. It’s as good as can be
That’s not as bad as I thought it was going to be because on my Xbox one x it takes about the same amount of time minus the load screen.
Anyone who’s complaining about loading screens must hate starfield then
I have such a toxic relationship with Starfield because of that. I hate that it takes a lot of time to do quests because of the loading screens and fast traveling, but at the same time some quests are very good, and getting to unlock skills or new gear is addictive
@@MehdiGlzBest option is never to touch Shitfield
I’ve almost beaten the game on switch and the loading screens aren’t super hard to deal with the if you don’t spend a whole lot of time in hogsmead. The open world aspect is still there.
The controls are very clunky whenever you wanna switch to the left hand to play on the Xbox Series S/X and Nintendo Switch it doesn’t work at all any suggestions???
Literally every open world game has loading screens. It’s still an open world game.
I cannot imagine playing the game like this
Hogsmeade is definitely the worst part of the Switch version with all the loading, the rest of the world is fine though. Idk why they did the buildings that way in Hogsmeade.
I know! I deleted it because of that since I'm kinda impatient I really hope that can change 😕
It's obviously inferior to the more powerful platforms, but the fact that they managed to port this game to the Switch at all and make it playable is still pretty impressive ngl
I'm honestly just happy it made it to switch. This I what I was waiting for for my second playthrough.
And so if there’s loading screen?
What a pointless video. It’s a bloody miracle they got this running at all on Switch. Why not focus on the positives?
I got the game on ps4 and my wait time is like 15-20 seconds for any traveling flu network
So what. I can’t afford a steam deck and now I can play in bed. Open world isn’t negated by loading screens.
Yeah. Kinda sucks it isnt seamless but its still open world and the fact that it runs on switch is an amazining accomplishment
We know but to have a AAA game like Hogwarts legacy on switch which is 7 year old tech is still amazing
My dad bought me the game on switch for Christmas, and to be honest i do not give a shit about the loading screens. Its a very fun game and i havent worried about the loading.
I play in ps5, and looking at footage from the switch the game is almost unrecognizable
I mean its impressive they got the game running at all on the switch even if they had to do a whole lot to do so
had to be remaster cause movie view had to do with entering the game and not continue , not only load screens but remaster , still open world though.
Open World has nothing to do with loading screens
this game is glitch.. i already gain up my level then just because 1 button not available i cant play anymore must play all over again … so frustrating!!!
Glad I watched this because I been itching to buy it for my switch so I can play mobile but now I don’t think I will.
Tell me your spoiled without telling me your spoiled
Outside of only playing Nintendo titles there is virtually zero reason to waste money on a switch
The quality looks AWFUL on this
Ain't got to do with hardware.
OH NO!! 20 WHOLE SECONDS!?🤯😭
Bruh, endless scrolling on social media made people forget how long old games used to load
I just realized how amazing the seemless open world is in standard hogwarts legacy
It does turn me off and prevent me from picking it up :( so sad. I just couldn’t get the patience anymore to wait every other minute
As a switch user, cuz i am patient, i can deal with the wait
I mean it makes sense, as long as it still has all the content and the only issue is a load screen, then I’m fine with that. I won’t be purchasing it myself as I have a PC, however I bet tons of kids will get it for Christmas like the other commenter said, and they will someday maybe even come back to the “real” version
Seriously though, I think they did a great job with this game on switch. I love it and really don’t mind the loading times. That’s just so minor to me. I care more about having fun and enjoying the game
They did make a effort bringing this big game to switch because obviously switch 2 will play this game just fine very soon
No longer, “open world” 😂
