I've always felt most natural dunking off one foot and looking back at videos of me dunking, I do pretty much everything that this video explains off just instinct.
Same bro, 2 foot dunking makes my stutter a bit and 1 foot dunking seems more natural
This made me think a lot about the way I approach a 1 foot jump
💯... There is some subtle variation with each jumper but the techniques I laid out are pretty universal. It's probably worth trying them out!
Underrated
This is probably the best video I've watched on dunking🙅🏾♂️🧢

Underated channel
Great job breaking down the one foot dunk
🙏🙏
Lavine dunk was so sick in slow mo
After this i tried outside and i went into the clouds. 🥋🏀
Tips a tricks to help you dunk:
1.Use your heels on your last final jumps and then jump
2.the pin ultimate step should be diagonal and the last step should be pointed forward
3.your torso should be slightly low and at take off should be nearly vertical
4.when jumping have your left arm 90 degrees and swing your arm highly parallel to the floor
5.have your leg when jumping 180 degrees
6.have a powerful knee drive that should reach parallel to the floor or just shy of it
7.your take off should be not to far or to close to the basket
What does it mean to be parallel to something?
@@modestobeltran9202 perfectly alligned and straght to the ground so when your knee drive is parralel it means that your eg should be perfctly straight compared to the ground
This channel needs more recognition
Appreciate it!
Best break down with clear presentation on one foot jump I've watched
2:30 look at D Wade😂
fire bro
Love how d wade ain’t even look at the dunk he just knew
Yeah 2:32 I was about to comment that
Great video! Thanks!

Thanks now I can dunk with my toe
i jump off one a lot higher but it hurts my knee so i had to teach myself to jump off two
Nice 🔥🇧🇷
Mainly a 2 foot jumper but tryna get more versatile
It's easier to dunk off one foot. You get higher reach
One foot dunker better oder two foot? I can only do with one foot ! Its a problem?
i can jump higher off one foot than 2 foot but i cant dunk off 1 for aome reason i just struggle getting it in the basket my 2 foot is just rimgrazers aswell so like idk
Can you learn to jump off one leg? Cause it feels very weird to me and I naturally jump off two.
Yep. I've definitely see great results for training both styles of jumps (1 foot and 2). I do suspect that 2 foot technique is slightly more trainable but you can definitely see gains in jump height for both!
You junp off off the ball of the foot right?
you ever watch Nick Briz? he's a 1 leg dunker, has the fastest ground contact time i ever seen. does that make you jump higher?
I've seen some of his dunks on my social media feed. He's got incredible bounce. You are correct he has minimal ground contact time. He is able to generate a ton of force in a very short time span. I suspect this ability is largely genetic and related to high proportion of type IIx (fast twitch) muscle fibers. You can enhance it through training with plyometrics and lighter, explosive lower body resistance training. Tho IMO it is difficult.
wow im pretty close to dunking and i just realized that im prolly not doing half these things well
i gotta work on these asap
Not every dunker does every movement pattern but most of the great ones adopt these techniques. Try and implement some of these strategies and see if it pays off for you. Good luck!
Wait fr faster you go, the higher you jump?
Faster relative to the 2 foot jump. Definitely not top speed but I'd say 70-80% top speed for the 1 foot approach dunk. For the 2 foot dunk, significantly slower speed (tho still aggressive final 3 steps)
Is there any way to get rid of a toe drag when jumping off one foot because I keep ripping my shoe
I've actually never came across someone with this issue in jumping. I do see it occasionally in sprinter's on their first step out of the blocks. When does this occur in your approach? Final step? Which foot?
@@flightlabhoops8604 I jump off my left foot and as I bring my right knee drive up my foot touches the ground a lot. Most people who have this problem are power jumpers, I see Zach Lavine do this a lot in dunk contests
Sup
I just need four inches to dunk so what is the easiest way to add those four inches to my vertical btw i am one foot jumper
Get vert shock it’s only like $70
try working on ur core because a lot of vetical is core
Regular Cool Guy use 2 feet
one legged box jumps and one legged squats are worth a try.
@@exoedge6322 r u dumb
The higher the speed .does that make sense ?
Yes, but it has limits. I usually coach around 7/10 speed. You are moving much faster than a 2 foot jump. The higher speed generates horizontal momentum that you can transfer to the vertical.
if you go too fast you end up going more horizontal than vertical. but when you have speed, there is more energy being produced to elevate you. its all about finding the balance
Thank you and yea
I jump lower with one foot but with two foot I jump higher
Lots of factors go into determining what style jump you succeed at most. Good news is both styles can be improved through technique and resistance training. That said, you will likely always have a style that you are better at
Troydan?
I’m a 6’2 13 year old and I can dunk
proof?
6'2 and just turned 14, just now touching rim!
I wish I was a one foot jumper, so much easier
1 foot and 2 foot both have an important place. The grass always does seems greener on the other side tho!
Lebron isn’t even 1 foot, he’s 6’8
Lebron always jumps off 1 foot
Zach Lavine is also not 1 foot, he's 6'6. I get it lol.
This sucked
