Only one word : PERFECT ! Moves, figures, aerobatics, with the sound of this work of art of engine (it does make change from 2 stroke screaming things...) thanks a lot for that show...
That is some amazing piloting. I find this style of aerobatics so much more aesthetically pleasing than the modern 3D style. And that airplane/engine combo is the BOMB. That's why I went right out and bought a set!
Now that's how it's done! Right on! I am shocked the power the FG61 produces. Flies the Pitts with great authority. This will be my next plane/engine combo. Thanks for posting. : )
First off… What a beautiful routine absolutely beautiful… I am almost not wanting to make this comment but you are such a good pilot you could pull this off beautifully... I was a linesman at an airport in New Orleans called Lakefront airport… My friends uncle was a Delta airline pilot and owned an S2A Pits… I would fuel it for him and then go out on the flightline and watch him fly the pattern doing touch and goes… He would climb off the end of the runway steeply up to about 4000 feet maybe 3500 and then when he was on his base leg he would slip the airplane from about 2500 feet down to the runway on about a 45° angle to the runway so he would actually be flying his base leg as his final and then right before touchdown he would Straighten out right on the centerline with a three point landing… He would do this 50 times in a row one touch and go after another as the pattern would allow… One time I asked him why do you always slip it in when you land and he said because of the size of the engine and how small the plane is you can’t see the runway when you’re landing… But if you slip it in all the way to the ground you can see the runway until you kick the rudder to straighten the plane on the dotted line… And then you can’t see anything but the sides of the runway... so to finish off that beautiful of a flight that you just did would be awesome with a scale landing from higher up in a slip all the way to the runway… I know you can do it… And I know that plane can do it… One more thing… From experience… As soon as you straighten the plane out if you have not kept your airspeed down the plane will want to balloon upward and then you can settle in for a landing… But this destroys the effect of a completely controlled three-point landing at the end of a slip… I strive to keep the airspeed down low enough when the plane is sideways so that when I straighten out for the centerline I don’t balloon but the airplane remains constant and it’s right above a stall at the three-point landing… if this is done correctly it adds so much to the end of the flight… Just my humble opinion my friend… and that was a beautiful wheel landing… But if you watch every full-size Pitts land… They don’t do wheel landings… They are very Squirrley because of the massive amount of engine up front and a very short moment in the back… Three point landings are the safest way to land the Pits... obviously not yours but full-sized...
I have the same airframe and engine combination. Just doing final fit up and it will be good to go. It is a really nice model. 20ks servos and Futaba radio.
G,day from Down Under Oz . I noticed at 4m 42seconds the Saito Fg-61Ts missed a beat whilst flying knife edge. Is this related to Saito Gas Engine Carburetor Air Purging? Do you ever follow the Saito instructions regarding eliminating air purging prior to take off? Happy Landings.
Yes, that is due to the small air bubble. I disregard the procedure in the manual for that on all saitos. I never had any issues with it. It is not practical to lift the airplane with running engine.
I habe no idea about the weight to be honest. To guess might cause even more misunderstandings. The Hangar 9 Pitts is lightweight and very well designed. Perfect combo, I agree ✋😎
Hello. I have a Saito 57cc twin boxer. The question is.....is there a noticeable difference in power between the 57cc and the 61cc? It is an increase of only 4cc, but it is as much as 7% and that sounds like a lot more.
Thank you. I have the front hatch removed and choke with a finger on the carburator. Spinner is a standard aluminium spinner you can get in several hobbyshops. Wish you lots of fun with yours!
@@tistarc9900 thank you, Unfortunately my engine seized up and broke the connecting rod and piston. I received a new one from HH that has a oiling nipple on top but not sure if I will keep it or return it
@@tistarc9900 I actually was breaking it in without the cowl and running a 22x10 prop and a 15:1 mix using redline oil. I believe you have the older design without the lubrication nipple on top of the crankcase. They changed the design a couple of months ago as some people were having the same issue I was having and they determined there wasn't enough oil being circulated throughout the engine so I guess this is the workaround for now.
I will assemble with the same model with the same electronics and saito fg61ts engine. On this flight the CG was in which position. You used the bottom or top wing to find the best CG on the model. Thanks
Hi, it was somewhere between 130 and 140mm (top wing). Currently i am flying with 163mm CG which improves capability of Flatspins and other maneuvers a lot.
@@tistarc9900 for you to reach the cg between 130 and 140mm did you have to add lead to the model's nose? To install the motor, did you use the mounts that came with the motor for fixing to the fire wall?

for a warmup better than the most of us
Excellent Knife Edge flying ! Really enjoyed this ! Well done sir.
Thanks William!
Very smooth
*The sound.*
Electric airplanes are missing something?
I've only watched this video a few time.
Thank you.
Hy very nice sound engine !!!! Can you tell me the weight of youre plane in kg ? Thanks TRIM TRIM TRIM
I can measure the current weight when i am back on wheels. The Pitts sits currently on skies for snowflying.

Weiter so! Abo habe ich jetzt! Der Motor scheint perfekt zu passen. Grüsse Ramon.😎
Hey Ramon! vielen Dank! Grüße zurück!
Have you had trouble with the landing gear bending on landing? If so what was your fix.
Hi Robert, no problems at all 💁
Great flying! The Saito seems to have great power for this plane. What is the overall weight of the combo!? Kind regards, Donald

Hello,
Congratulation!
Butifull Flight.
I have the same model and motor, Could you tell me what propeller and max rpm you have please?
Thierry
I never measured rpm at this one. Prop is 22x10 menz airscrew
WOW

I don't think there is a big difference
Awesome flight and I just got done building mine with the same engine. How did you go about choking the engine? Also where did you get your spinner?
Thank you.

@@JohnSolimanMBA make sure you have a cooling duct in the cowling to the cylinder. Otherwise temperature is too high. Especially during break in.

The engine sits on the stock motormounts with stock spacers.

Yes it is.

Flight weight? Rpm? Thank you
Not measured yet to be honest. Built up fast the plane is flying and flying and flying. Someday i will take the weight and rpm 😉
They always look like toy planes when driver-less!
Jepp. Pilotfigure is on order.
No inverted flat spins? I'm so disappointed since this plane does it so well.
Haha, well... with the CG at that time it didn't enter flatspins. With where my CG is now it is a dream!
👍👍👍👍👍
An impressive flight but the pilot was nowhere to be seen...🙃
Lol... Yeah... Still in the works 🙈
