    1. You’re stunning.
    2. I don’t live there, but I’ve been there twice on extended trips. I was treated very well and everyone I spoke to was very kind. A lady in Galeries Lafayette gave me the best compliment. I was checking out at the counter and she started speaking to me in French. I asked, in French, if she spoke English. She giggled and switched to English, and said that she thought I was French because I didn’t dress like a tourist. She said the tourists don’t dress as well as French ladies, and she liked my coat. I have never felt so chic🤣

    You should move to the United States, we would love to have you here.
    I visited only three times Paris and stayed in each time about 1 week, I loved visiting Paris but that’s just it, I wouldn’t come to live there mainly due to the crowdedness and small living spaces in tiny apartments, plus I simply don’t enjoy taking metros anymore around a lot of people.

I'd like to become an expat but I don't own a business so I'm not sure how to make money in another country. Right now I'm getting my bachelors degree but I dont want to be a teacher which is what I mainly here foreigners do when they leave from America or their retired military. What do you do? If you don't mind me asking.

      because you can easily rent an affordable and big apartment in NY city ??? or in London ? I have worked for a UK / US company for more than 20 years, it was impossible for me, even with a good salary, to rent anything in the center (or just in) of these two cities ... you have nothing decent under 3 to 4 k $ or £ / month ... Paris is like any other big city, expensive ... talking about the noise and smell and dirt, NY is just a nightmare, no matter if you have a room at the 50th floors, you still ear constantly firefighter and police siren 24/7 ... roadworks are permanent since my first visit back in ... 1983 !

      Hello! Safe areas in the suburbs could be Neuilly sur Seine, Versailles, Saint Cloud, Saint Germain-en-Laye and depending on square feet, with a decent garden or terrace could start anywhere from 900€ per month . So many factors can determine the price, like space, bills, etc

      You want to avoid Saint-Denis and Saint-Ouen (in the north) and the north of Seine-Saint-Denis (along line B). They have the highest crime rate of the region, much lower than the average american rate, though. The east and the south are fine, Vincennes, Fontenay, Montreuil all have nice parks and subway or RER stations. Nogent and Joinville-le-Pont are a bit pricier but they have nice cycling paths along the river... It will depend on what you're looking for... I personally am not the greatest fan of the western suburbs, even if I was born there, that are historically more upper class and less welcoming to the outsiders and with less community work, community gardens and the like...
      So it depends on which part of Paris you want to access quickly (so public transport), if you want to avoid pollution (be on a hilltop), your price range (but you sometimes find a cheaper rent in a better city), what amenities are important to you...

    I'm getting ready to move in about 2 months and believe it or not, my biggest anxiety is making new friends as an adult if you are not a student. Anyone with ideas on this 🙈 How do you approach meeting people excluding on dating apps

    • @VictoriaMajule
      @VictoriaMajule  Год назад +8

      Best advice for adults (no longer in the student stage) is to befriend your local neighbours. From your bakery lady to signing up for local activities within the community , will really get the ball rolling. You will also learn the language faster and meet new people 😉

      I would add that hobbies or passions are also a good way to make friends. whether in sport, art or even cultural exchange. my wife is Japanese and she was able to create friendships in her badminton club and in a Franco-Japanese association

    • @NouriaDiallo
      @NouriaDiallo 5 месяцев назад

      I concur. Volunteering in a local association that picks your interest is the best way to find your people. Or just participating in their events.
      If you're ecologically minded, there are "ressourceries", non profit that focus on waste reduction, reuse and recycling (great place to shop or get rid of your surplus), and those around Paris unite in organizing a festival every year. Repair cafés and object libraries, LPO (League for the protection of birds) and local Facebook groups (enter the name of your town/arrondissement and see what's available) of recycling, free help and plant exchange. There are community gardens, there are non-profits that support small farmers (Amap) and where you can get fruits and vegetables directly from the producer, animal shelters, associations that protect feral cats, you name it.
      There are knitting clubs that do yarn graffiti, guerilla gardeners that sow flowers in available spaces, local history groups, choirs and bands, hiking associations if you want to visit the region (Randonneurs d'Île de France)... neighborhood festival committees, neighborhood meals for which a street can be closed to circulation, disco soups (where everyone brings an ingredient), and if you live in a historically left leaning town, the municipality will offer very affordable activities, like yoga lessons, pottery, drawing, sewing.
      There is free work out or tai chi in some parks.
      You can also become a regular in a nice bar near you with a happy hour, the kind that's comfortable for women to go alone...
      Also political organizations if you find one close to your values (I include feminists, antiracists or even cyclists in the political).
      But seriously, non-profits are always hungry for volunteers and there are really nice people in them (and sometimes a few less savory individuals, but still...) You can find many of them on the website of the town hall.

    I've read another comment from another african american living in France, his take was very interesting imo;
    Basically he was saying that racism in USA was systemic, as ingrained into the country's law (Jim Crow ...) while in France it is illegal and has been for centuries (as in punishable by law).
    Therefore racism in France is found more frequently at the individual level the way delinquency is, whereas in USA it's found at the level of global community (KKK) and the level of the States as well as in court - remnants of racist laws are still enforced as of now, or are being reinstated. That's a very deeply rooted thinking process turned into a way of life.
    But in recent decades, the whole western civilisation has been dealing with terrorism and the backlash of racism directed towards the muslim and arab communities.
    As well as a very negative views pertaining to illegal immigration.
    But it's an entirely different debate and the "racists" embracing that hostility are not the same populations than the old scholl racists we had before, as many second or third generation immigrants have also become hostile to the newer immigration waves as well, even towards the new people coming from the same countries than them.

    I’ve spent time in Paris. Right away, in the airport, a gentleman in a suit put his entire leg in front of me to prevent me from walking by. He was talking to other men in suits - clearly they all worked at the airport in some capacity. He never looked at me.. he just kept talking to the other men in suits, arms folded while he put his leg in front of my suitcases as I tried to walk past. Instead of stopping his conversation for 10 seconds and turning to me and telling me that this direction is no longer accessible or I must go around to exit the airport - he felt it was best to keep talking while not even looking at me and just put his leg in front of me each time I tried to go around him. He literally would put his leg even further and further out in front of me as I tried to go around him…never looked at me once. A taxi driver had to tap me on the shoulder and tell me that “sorry ma’am, that way is now closed”…Otherwise I would’ve never known. It’s this type of thing that has me mind blown about basic decency. On top of that you will get completely blown off and deliberately told the wrong directions by some less than friendly Parisians. I almost missed my flight back to LA, even though I arrived to the airport two hours early. Airport workers were sending me back and forth across this busy street, 4 times with 70 pounds of luggage to and from the wrong place! I broke down in tears at Charles de Gaulle…. no joke.
    My google translate was totally not working in France. Verizon did not have my back out there…Dietary restrictions? Too bad! Oh sorry… since we don’t understand you and you don’t speak French…here’s a huge 5 inch tower of raw salmon for your dining pleasure! I pulled a lighter out of my purse and put it next to my plate and they waiter told me “we’re closed”.. in English. May I mention that there is dog poo all over the streets…The Louvre was amazing ❤️the architecture was amazing ❤️.. ambiance was very good 👍 I had a high rise on the 16th floor in front of the Iron Lady ✅❤️it was spectacular. Monoprix(the French Target) was cool.. excellent French pj’s and cosmetics. The manager was super rude to me.. didn’t want to show me where to find almond milk.. he basically told me to F off!
    Next stop Almafi coast and London. Excited about London as I believe and English speaking country may be a “softer landing” for me. I heard Amalfi coast even though Italian speaking is much more laid-back than parts of France. I will try Paris again as the shopping is 10 out of 10 💫 and in all honesty, if I would have know a bit of French, my experience would have been better.

The pyramids are in Africa, and so is the Phoenix, which bears African features, among the statues, and paintings. The moors dominated parts of Europe for centuries, and civilized it. The richest man to ever live was Mansa Musa, worth 400 billion guess where he was from...

      Sorry dear it as been proved that the Égyptian from today are the descendant from the Ancien One .
      The Moor were people from Africa in général it can be Berber tribes who where pretty Light skinned or mixed with Arabs and Black African from West Africa , it can also designed people from the désert or Arabs or even Black peoples , saying Moors is not accurate because it was a European therme .
      Also those people were literrally oppressor who bring Islam throught conquest and génocide in the Iberian péninsula and were stopped by my peoples the French .
      They contributed in the gown of the region after their conquest but fly away after the end of the reconquista who was a wars between the Christian Kingdom in the North ( Aragon , Castille, ) and the Andalusie were the "Moors" lived .
      They only influenced the South of Europe like the Iberian Peninsula , Sardignia or Sicily but didn't go to the Franks kingdoms or the Germanic Kingdoms or the British one or even in the Italian citys .😊😅😅😅😮😊
