Ok so if some are designed to accommodate those in need of care, medical equipment, etc., then that makes a bit more sense. The cynical me, however, still believes they are overpriced and the manufacturers will find a way to gouge the buyer.
The higher priced ones are kitted out like hospital rooms, contain robotic med reminders, specialized bathrooms, devices that watch for falls. The reason for the sky high prices is that these Pods come as packages, the new owners don't have to look up zoning ordinances and all that crap.
Oh come on - what elderly person is going to want to lift up the bed every day so he/she can sit on a couch???? And the infirm will NOT want to be alone for most of every day in a "house" the size of a box of Saltines....
I agree. It seems almost insulting and mean-spirited to relegate your parents to the backyard! If there's that much room then there's enough room to add on to the existing house. My next-door neighbors did it years ago and it brought up the value of their house too when they sold it. But in all honesty I can see why some ppl would actually like this idea. I don't think I would, though.

Completely unrealistic. When a parent becomes less independent that means they need help a lot of the time. So, this actually makes it harder on care providers (like myself) because now we gotta go run across the yard when they need help. Lmao...

You are right. I am 79 with a bad back. I can't see myself lifting that everyday.
Even as a younger person if I have to use my energy to pull down the bed before bedtime..I won't feel sleepy anymore
They make models of this bed that lift up to the ceiling and lower automatically as well.
