This is very fun and elegant with the touch of gold. The gift recipient is going to be thrilled. I love your fingernails. Perfect for you to have a touch of gold too 🙂.
Hiya Megan, Thank you, what a wonderful lesson! You are a great teacher, mind you've done it a while. So you've invented the spinner ring Mk2. I especially loved the, 'I'm right-handed so I'll move it...' A couple of points if I may:- If you have problems with your mandrel moving down as you work the ring, or whatever, this works for all mandrels I've tried, hit on the side rather than the top of your workpiece. The mandrel is pushed against the jaw of the vice not thin air so it should hold it. Or get a vertical vice, the jaw moves up and down not side to side. Cooksongold sells them. Stay safe dear lady, Steve...
Hi Steve! 👋 You're so welcome! Thanks for that. I do love teaching. And yeah had fun with that design. It's for Emile's mum's birthday next week. 😉 And yes thanks for the tip with the mandrel.
Copper is in sterling silver. The component in the alloy of solder that lowers the flow/melt temperature is zinc, IT turns a darker color over time (which is why you want to totally clean up solder joins) not copper (although copper is the metal in sterling that encourages tarnish compared to fine silver, the other metal in the alloy sterling. Great video as usual Megan!!
