    Very encouraging video. You are very good at this. No surprise that you moved into teaching and coaching early on, you are a natural. I watched a few of your videos explaining that you didn't feel that confident to start with, but that in itself is encouraging, because it helps people realize that change and improvement to any level is a possibility. Cheers Megan. Great Video again.

    If you've been selling your jewelry to boutiques all across the world while you've been working your 9-5 job, and then moved to Belgium to start a coaching business, is it safe to assume that it alone didn't give you a good enough income on its own to live off of?

    awesome video thanks for the tips. i was wondering if i have to buy sterling silver over amazon what is a good gauge for ring making?

    • @megan.collins
      @megan.collins  2 года назад +1

      I personally wouldn't buy silver over Amazon. Rather find a local jewellery supply store, or online supply store, as you can then trust the sources better if this is possible. For rings I'd say between 1mm - as wide as you like, but no thicker than 1.5mm personally, but it's really up to you and what feels comfortable.

    Hiya Megan, another success from you. A small 'But' Why is there often a 'But' Anyway, sound was a tad out against the picture. It was behind, your lips moved before the sound started, not by much, just a tad.
    Anyway, a video full of wonderful help for us starters. Where do we find, 'Influencers'? I think that is one of the best tips I've heard in a long while. You are not the only one to be not advising Etsy, advice taken.
    Thank you for all your work on this video, much needed help. Stay safe, Steve...

      Hi Steve, hmmm, Interested, didn't notice the sound being off when we were editing, will keep an eye on it though. In terms of influencers and how to go about working with them is part of my 1:1 program actually 😉 And with regards to Etsy, some might find this controversial, but that's just my personal opinion. Take care and see you soon. Megan

    What about if you can only copy others? I don't "design" jewelry. I recreate the pieces from others' patterns. I love making jewelry. I want to sell the products. I'm only a few years from retirement and I cannot quit my job ( I really need to quit my job!!). I want to but taking the leap of faith in a rented home is like standing on the ledge. Thanks for your videos. I'm checking out more for information to try and get it going as a side line for now.

    • @megan.collins
      @megan.collins  Год назад +3

      Hello hello, I totally understand your need for security and I wouldn't advise anyone to quit their jobs till they have a stable alternative income from the jewellery. In terms of starting a brand, at the core of any success business, there needs to be a clear target audience, clear values, brand identity and foundations. So I'd suggest having a think about how this could look for you.

    I love you and your advice. But you said if your jewelry is too complicated and complex Etsy would not be a good place for you to sell. But then you said you don’t sell on Etsy and also have said your jewelry is minimalist and quick to make, so that doesn’t follow. There is no reason you can’t sell on Etsy as well as have your website (as you advised). you can do Etsy, website, Instagram… all those things… there’s no reason to limit yourself with Etsy if affordable for a person to be on Etsy. Etc

      @@megan.collins I understand, but for those who follow you on You Tube it's like throwing the stone and hiding your hand. Not everyone, especially those who start, has a lot of money. There are lessons that, for a fee, don't make sense. Do not you think?

    • @megan.collins
      @megan.collins  2 года назад +6

      Hi Annalisa, the thing is that for me to be able to continue making free videos every week, I need to also have my different revenue streams and coaching jewellery designers is one of them. When I started out I would have really benefited from this. Just like any business or YT channel, they offer a certain amount for free, but as YT does not pay me anything for the 100s of hours I put in for free, I think it's only fair for me to offer more in depth content for a fee for those who want it. Some people are happy with the free content and can work from there themselves.
