    Brilliant video Mike. It was probably the most in-depth video I’ve seen of actually everything involved. I can see exactly how it would be really popular. It just puts a new spin on fitness challenges and takes in strength as well as cardio. Bit like an indoor Tough Mudder. If time and other commitments weren’t a constraint I’d definitely be up for training for one and giving it a bash.
    Well done on completing your first Hyrox Mike 😁… and I would have felt exactly the same walking into a big event like that.

    Very interesting concept. I was watching it with my son, he was keen on trying it. This type of thing is not for me personally because I get a bit claustrophobic with so many people indoor and I don't like weights, my womb would probably fall out. My son is 18 at the end of August. I will look it up for him and some friends. I like it how detailed your video is. Thank you, Mike.

    Loved this! My brother does CrossFit and I’m in awe of what they do, but it always seemed out of reach for me. This looks slightly more achievable but maybe you just made it look easy! 💪🏼. Do you train at a gym that has a Hyrox setup? I don’t go to the gym so need to work out how to train some of the exercises. I’d love to give it a go and may well see you in B’ham in October. 🤪

    • @30somethingmike
      @30somethingmike  Год назад

      Hi Francois - thanks very much! I would say this is more accessible than CrossFit, as the movements aren't very technical. I just trained at my local PureGym but the training programme I had through the trainerize app with Sarah Holden Fitness was brilliant. Essentially, Hyrox is lots of running, lunges, squats and burpees. The only thing you really need to practice in the gym is the ergs (row & ski) and push/pull a sled. Definitely give it a go! All the best

    #GameforanythingMike , good job mr all rounder. As a former Spartan racer (who is transforming into a happy jogger) , I would say to attempt to run ultra's and compete regularly in Hydrox would provide you with a high /very high level of standard fitness.. That being said the two sports contradict physical needs at some point and you would suffer with having too much weight due to required upper body strength and high salt /glycogen needs on the ultra's.. or tire out due to lack of strength and lactate tolerances at Hydrox or similiar event. I must say It's great being able to be an arm chair general and just watch you peeps play 😜

    • @30somethingmike
      @30somethingmike  Год назад +1

      Thanks John, I've definitely been tempted to try Spartan Race too one day. I agree with you on the focus, albeit Hyrox seems to be mostly lower body strength based so I found a lot of the training was similar to strength training that we might normally do to support running. It was a lot of fun and I'd definitely recommend it. Thanks for watching JBS!

  • @IgnacioGlezCllo
    @IgnacioGlezCllo Год назад +1

    Out of curiosity, could you post your 'standard' (strict) times on the ski erg and rower, and compare them to the time you managed at Hyrox (which, as you mentioned includes being in the station, and not just doing the exercise)!??

    • @30somethingmike
      @30somethingmike  Год назад

      I row at about 1:55 / 500m pace when rowing easy-ish (rate 22). In the race though I took it slow to rest on the rower, so about 2:10 pace (4:20 for the km). It’s a good station to rest if your technique can get you a decent pace.
      Ski erg I did in about 4 minutes but it’s earlier in the competition so you generally feel fresh
      Hope that’s helpful!
