When I first moved back to Florida, I was amazed at all of the cattle ranches in the central Florida area. As i drove around more and more, I noticed every ranch had one donkey. Now I know why.
In the uk it used to be the same too and it was considered that a donkey in with the herd stopped the cows from aborting their calves. Science or old wives tale/superstition - i don't know!
Donkeys are used to guard calfs and sheep here in Ireland from feral/stray/loose dogs. They're extremely tough and can kill quite easily. They're also very strong as they are still used to pull turf carts and plough fields
MY ANCESTORS COME FROM WALES...THEY CAME TO N. AMERICA IN THE 1640's...SEEING SUCH BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY...ONE WONDERS WHY THEY EVER LEFT? LOVE YOUR GUARD DONKEYS...THEY'RE SUCH ENDEARING CREATURES...LOVE THOSE LONG EARS, & FUNNY SOUNDS THEY MAKE!! NICE HOME YOU HAVE FOR THEM!!
Predators typically expect prey animals to runaway. That usually emboldens them to attack. Donkeys will go right at the predator, which confuses the predator. Donkeys are strong, fast, aggressive and fearless. They also have a strong bite. Their hides are very tough as well. They can easily pick up a dog or coyote by the head and rag doll them. They will also kick and trample them with their sharp hooves. They have even been know to take down larger predators like hyenas.
I myself love them for all sorts of reason. They were and still are much abused worked to death neglected abandonned left to die when no longer useful or end up in a knackers' yards Shame on us. Such great souls. Love them. 💔💔💔
There is something very special about these animals. I know that they sometimes formed extremely close bonds with the early American gold prospectors. Inseparable, in fact.
I witnessed what a donkey is capable of. My friend had a pitbull, when his dog got out of the truck at my buddy's place, the dog started messing with my friends donkey, my buddy warned him to get his dog, the little donkey had sprung a leak from the pit biting it, about 8 seconds later that pit was dead.
@@cchaffincc Right after she had fooled around with a man who wasn't her husband, got knocked up, and convinced her idiot husband that she had been 'immaculately conceived.' 😂😂
They were not the first domesticated animal, not even close. I saw on RUclips years ago where a Cougar was trying to attack a man and his donkey grabbed that cat in its mouth, swung it around and around, threw it on the ground and stumped it to death, it was unbelievable. And the horses were just freaked out and useless.
Best, video they could help me with my very bad depression, they are so gorgeous and very beautiful I know they could help me I sure need them and love they are so priceless watching them, they touched my heart with love, I love them.all thank, you friend send more videos to help me please 🐅🐆🦓🦓😋🤩🙄😎😎🤣😘
I've heard dream stories about guard donkeys and horror stories about them. It seems there are too many that kill goats, especially baby goats. I would like a guard donkey, but can't stand to take a chance. So, I have livestock guardian dogs. They live well with goats and chickens and protect them from predators.
Do you even realize how many dogs have killed livestock? Of course livestock guardian dogs have an instinct to protect, but you still have to train them well so they harm your animals. Don’t take them for granted.
@@yeetngreet148 Yes. Neighborhood dogs killed all my in-law's goats and they were big goats. I assume you meant "don't" harm your animals. People have bred livestock guardian dogs for thousands of years to have the right instincts to protect. There are some LGD that are failures even when raised right, but most of them seem to do pretty well. Most of mine have worked out. I wish our ancestors had also bred a line of livestock guardian donkeys with all the right instincts. Donkeys live a lot longer than dogs and are usually much cheaper to feed as long as you have pasture. You also don't have the added expenses of heartworm and flea treatment.
I Agree with the Lady, First Domesticated Animal, Done More for Mankind than Any Other, Yet Donkeys are the Most Ridiculed. Well Said. I would Like to Add, Donkeys, if Well Treated, Are Like Being Around a Fine Dog. Next Time Someone Calls You a JackAss, Be Complimented
I never knew donkeys were so smart.we had one when i was a child.she had pink fur and she was use to tote cocoa.we never pet her we thought she would bite us.

Oi, you watch your tongue. That big fat owner's dad happens to be Shrek and she takes after her mom, princess Fiona. So unless you wanna get stomped by an ogre, I'd be careful with my words if I were you.
I like donkeys they are great as a Guard dog or guard donkey they will snatch a sneaky person walking around your house or family in a Mississippi minute. So…..let a donkey move into your house with you and your family sleeping between husband and wife 😮 making your life a little spicy 🌶 hot 🥵 that’s a donkey life 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
These guard donkeys are not smart and will kill anything that looks different in the herd .. they can't tell the difference between a dog a calf a goat or sheep in a herd of grown cows so anything you try to mix in there with the cows consider it a threat to the donkey even calves..but if you are training it to kill foxes and coyotes and wolves then of course it's going to kill dogs or anything that looks different than the cows... I may be wrong and if you've seen it a donkey be nice around dogs or calves then you can test it I'm just going by what I've seen on other videos

Yes, it is an odd juxtaposition to see so many farms and pastures all up and down streets and the interstate.
Donkeys are used to guard calfs and sheep here in Ireland from feral/stray/loose dogs. They're extremely tough and can kill quite easily. They're also very strong as they are still used to pull turf carts and plough fields
We looove donkeys. We visit the local donkey celebrities here where we live. Beautiful sweet creatures.
They don't really need to be trained to protect, they do it naturally, and are VERY good at it. LOVE it!
Yes. They protect their territory.
I love my Donkeys, Cooper and Braya. They protect our farm and my grandkids can crawl right up on their backs without a saddle or reigns
I've always loved donkeys, they're smart and when they are bonded they are loyal as hell. I've always thought they were nice looking animals also.
Jesus thought so as well...
Donkeys are the best ⭐️
What a lovely lady looking after poor donkeys well done beautiful life for them 💓💓💓💓💓🙏🙏💫💫
Love me a donkey, very underrated animal. ❤️🇬🇧😁

@@syarifidrus They can, but donkeys are better guards.

This is very common in Texas. You see a few loose with most animals that are at risk for coyotes.
Who knew? I guess baby Jesus was safe with his guard donkey in the manger!
I love this comment.
Great comment👍
I never thought of that wow
God's go to security force...
Believing in your baby jesus is like believing in SANTA Claus
It's nice that you provide a place for my family to find sanctuary.
Your doing a fabulous job. Your donkey 💜 I’m in love 🥰
They are soooooooo beautiful and smart! When we m9ve to the country I will definitely get one or two !
Beautiful story

I had had a few donkeys when I had goats. Great protectors and will tear the skin right off a predator!

Donkeys are used all over Florida to protect cattle.
Yes I have heard of guard donkeys.
Donkey's are tough. I want a pair to play with. It's likely they'd play with me and keep me in line.
what a wonderful lady !
What a beautiful, passionate woman. If the world had more people like her, it would certainly be a better place!
Very nice lady with a golden heart !
the part of the video where the donkey was rolling around, it is SO cute!
gotta love the subtle music of The Man From Snowy River
Aww I love donkeys 💕 such awesome animals
so glad there are people like that lady..👍🇨🇦
I just love this and have a new appreciation of donkeys
They guarded a certain baby in a manger who grew up to be a Carpenter and then to guard over mankind.
And that certain baby’s mother arrived at the birthing place on a donkey.
Is he guarding mankind now? I must be looking in the wrong spots. I've been watching the shooting and bombing in Ukraine.

It was a mule.
Those big ears pick up sounds, they alert , and they kill. No fear in a donkey.
Donkeys rock!
VERY COOL
Yes, very nice story 👍🥕☘😀
I think they are beautiful. I don't think you have to train the donkey to yell when there's a threat.

There's a video of a donkey killing a hyena, it bites it's neck and throws him like a rag doll then kicks and stomps it to death.
Love donkeys
Smart creatures
I just found out about guard geese today. Looked them up and found out donkeys also work well as protectors. Cool video.
Geese are excellent alarms, guineas also, but can't protect like donkeys.
Decision has been made. I want a donkey.
Good for any herd animals to guard.
Wow. Kinda reminds me of where I grew up. Now I'm homesick.
LOVE DONKEYS, LOVE THIS LADY :)
Yes a Lovely story✌💙
We have two they tolerate NO nonsense! They eat coyotes for lunch...
I preferred the video where the Aussie dude gave the donkey a stubby...Happy donkey..
1982 "The Man From Snowy River" music playing in the background

I feel bad for all those donkeys tied up to the fence, can't even get a drink!

very green; which part of Aus , is it?
To guard or protect someone not your species is a very special quality
They definitely are more conscious and intelligent
protecting their area. Simple as that.
That's amazing
donkeys are all protectors of farms/ farm animals.
AND THE OWNERS HAVE TO HELP ALSO TO PROTECT THEIR DONKEYS FROM WILD PREDATORS THAT THREATEN THEM.❤🐴😍👍
BEAUTIFUL ANIMALS, HUMANS HAVE A LOT TO LEARN FROM ANIMALS!!!!

Donkeys in Asia have turned soy mills for ages... leading to the invention of tofu!
Interesting hair growth pattern on the sheep around 2:30.
That female anchor is smoking hot. The Aussie accent does it for this American guy.
I highly recommend taking the web halter off of that guard donkey when he is unattended.
