I use Kibble ground up into powder, Gerber baby rice, pumpkin and goats milk. Mixed into a mousse. Never had an issue. Weened 100’s if healthy Dobermans with this recipe.

We always use the Royal Canin Puppy Starter Mousse. The pups love it and take to it very naturally.

I do raw. My puppies almost have a full set of teeth, are walking, barking, and sitting on command. They are 3 weeks and 1 day. No joke. I am not here to criticize anyone at all, I absolutely love you videos you have helped me SO much. Just wanted to tell you what I did! I follow Dr Karen Becker, basically copied what she did. @@JH-ct2pn So I am very lucky I have a butcher who makes me a blend but this is what I used to do when I made it myself. You need around 70% muscle meat (chicken breast, ground beef, tripe), 10% organ meat (I use liver, kidney, pancreas and brain) 10% bone (HAS TO BE RAW BONE ground up for puppies) and 10% various veggies that are good for dogs like green beans, carrots squash. I also give my puppies colostrum, trace mineral complex, probiotics, and fish oil. Multivitamin is optional I do give them one like once a week. I have fed them the stella and chewys raw patties before but they prefer the real fresh raw. I switch up types of meat too they love the variety. The puppies do not beg for human food either!
@@LoveMyPups Yes check her out also lots of breeders are getting results like mine switching to a raw diet! All my puppies are sold now and I am getting amazing feed back on their temperaments and health. They all learned sit at 7 weeks. Apparently in their new home almost all of them have learned potty training and many tricks. These are chiweenies too lol known to be slow with training.
I agree with being careful with mom guarding her food from babies , my gsd bit one of the cutest pup from the litter right in the face for being next to her food she broke his jaw and he in died in my arms. Don’t let the puppies near moms food or when she is eating

I have a litter of orphan puppies who have been having milk replacer, would you go from milk straight swap to food for every feed or do you do food once or twice a day and milk for the other feeds then increase the amount of feeds where they only have food up until the point where they’re only have food and not milk. And 6 times a day?

A lilac is a dog that is a very light blue color. Dna has to be dd/coco. An isabella is a light chocolate color and dna is dd/bb

what about if a dog doesnt want to eat the mousse? i have 2 that transitioned easy and 2 that doesnt want to.
Typically smaller pups are slower to transition. Give them time with mum while they transition
@@LoveMyPups thank you i have frenchies and the smaller 2 of the 4 transitioned fast. The 2 bigger ones for some reason won’t eat it. Getting little frustrated

How much do you feed and how often each day? And how do you know if each puppy is getting the correct amount of gruel/mush? There are so many vids out there but, not many that I know of literally goes into details about this question.
Start off with 4 times a day the mush,introduce water to them slowly then leave small amounts for them in there kennel because they get thirsty. Or you can do twice a day food and in between mom feedings until they are weened 🙌🏻

Bit late but hope they did well ! I usually start with once and day for 3 days, then twice a day for 4 and so on. I like them seemed slowly over few weeks so gives mum time to dry slowly and them to get used to new solid food slowly for their little systems.
If mom is not so great you would have e to do quicker period x
I just started using royal canin puppy starter. They had one meal of it and loved it. My question is now that they started are they allowed to eat moms milk still or they can’t now that they are on starter mouse ?
Don’t do it cold Turkey
Let them have both. Transition to just mush over a few days.

Hi James I just started the weaning process (mush once a day is what Im doing and have only done this twice) and they seem to love the mush but after when I put mom in with the babies to clean they all run straight to her for more milk. Is this normal? Should I let them feed off mom again?

James appreciate your videos. Quick question my mom frenchie has giardia and the puppies are around 5 weeks is it ok to completely wean the puppies by 6 weeks? We started already and they eat a kibble gruel about 3 times a day now.We really need to get mom feeling better. (fenbendazole alone didn’t do it so we need to add metronidazole).
We need to pop is it five or six weeks is fine and you can start giving metronidazole to mom right away

Thanks for the video. Regarding the RC Started Mousse, do you use 1 can initially? Do you increase the cans used at each feed based on if there are left overs etc?
Feed as much as they can eat in 5-8 minutes
That mouse is way too expensive to use I've never weaned my puppies like that! They all grew so nicely every litter! It's not necessary to use it! I use a puppy formula, baby rice cereal, warm water and puppy food make a mash in my vitamix...

I don’t agree with the puppies walking on a mesh flooring over a collection tray in the whelping area. Not good for their feet and joints really.
I find a waterproof flooring on the whelp area is great with one side covered in puppy liners. My pups at 3 weeks old usually will walk over and toilet in that pad area. :0)
The information you give is great but panacur 10% liquid wormer is 2 weeks, at 5 weeks and 8 weeks.
i personally don’t do puppy injections until the wormer is done and a week after. As I feel too many chemicals is not good for them all at once.

What about a puppy that is very picky? That just wants nothing to do with any other food but moms milk? Puppy is 6 weeks old, have been syringe feeding but really want to stop 🛑 hopefully she eats on her own soon
