Hello, I just wanted to say a massive thank you for this video.
One of our pups was diagnosed with swimmer syndrome and the vet told us because of her quality of life, its best to put her down. I was massively distraught as you can imagine.
I came home and did some research and found this video and my hope was restored.
I taped her legs up as instructed, and within a week she was up and about.
She is now more active than any of the other pups and is such a lovely little girl.

I taped their hind legs they were 5 weeks old, dragged the hind legs walking like a seal, legs spread out, tapped them for 10/ 15 days, now they are up and walking. IT WORKED! Thank you so much

3 pups 4 weeks old could just stand but would slide out and one leg really out. taped their legs, put them in a tight wood box when they napped so hips are snug against the wall and a long runner as they are lazy. Pups walked to each other. I stand the pups on their back legs. At first they couldnt weight bare, Lift them up and down off the ground so they learnt to put pressure on their legs. Did it about 20 times at minimum of 5 times per day then increased to 40 times 6 times a day. I didnt want to tire them at first. massaged there thighs. After 5 days they were walking. Bedding was piles of soft blankets, eggshell foam with a blanet underneath so they had to use back legs to climb over. Had to walk to mum a couple of times. Combination helps at this age.

I didnt even know this was a thing! But now that im watching this video i think that one of my fat 3 week old yorkie is a little behind his sister in walking. Now i know why. Because hes more chunky than her.

I have a 3 week old singleton that I discovered has swimmers syndrone. She has front legs rotated outward as well as back legs... should I be taping the front as well or wait and see if the back taping solves. I know time is prescious so don't want to miss the window! Yes I would rotate the front legs forward and tape up You may need to and tape them a few hours a day to give her a chance to feed

Hello, Love you videos and the help you provide. we are new to the puppy side of dogs and you have helped us with many of our questions. I have a question regarding an english bulldog puppy. His hind legs are not dragging behind him, as seen with most swimmers puppies. His legs are pointed straight out forward. He won't bend his knees when trying to walk and he drags his bottom when trying to move. It looks like his hind legs are skis. He is about 3 weeks old and is medium build. Will doing the tape on his legs help with his issue?

You are starting a bit late on a fix. Never had the front legs outwards. But I guess tape up all four

I wish I could keep the tape on her. She is squirmy and I tried 3 types of tape (including electric) and she has managed to get them all off within moments and she is only 5 weeks. Any suggestions. I did build a narrow box run for her that seems to work at keeping her legs in and she can walk BUT once out she fans back out.

One more question please... What kind of flooring do you recommend for your whelping rooms... we I have always used a flooring with a little cushion but very firm... have had two swimmers in one litter and I started to wonder if the flooring we use was a good choice.

We didn't notice we had a swimmer till 4 weeks old (We thought he was just being fat and lazy which is maybe another reason this became a problem cuz he rarely moved much prior.), will this still work on a 4 week & 1 day old puppy? (We are getting the medical tape and doing it currently but is there anything else i should do for the puppy since he is 4 weeks and 1 day old now?)
yes! I noticed 2 of mine at 4 weeks and a half they were dragging their hind legs that were opened like an airplane. the other 2 were walking, kept them taped for about 2 weeks now they are walking, and I removed them. had to change them every 2 days because when they peed on them the tape came off. don't tie too tight around the ankles but tight enough so they don't slip off, I left a space between them as wide as their body. they are now up and even running! It works

I was able to fix the back legs and get my pup up and moving but now he is 3.5 weeks old and he is struggling with his front leg wanting to swim out. Any ideas on how to fix that?

I have a week old pup, she is on the smaller side, & she was born with a flat chest. I don't think she has swimmers, she crawls around just fine and her legs aren't flopped in a swimming position. Idk if taping her legs will help her chest to become rounder, or if it's something that will fix itself. She isn't feeding as much as she should & thats becoming alarming as well. Hopefully you can help, as the only thing I could find on flat chests were swimmer syndrome.

Tape them as soon as you can, slowly they will be fine, they graduated from tape at 3-4weeks old, they are going 5 months rn with a round chest, always give them rough surface, egg crate if possible. Goodluck

I have a flat puppy at 5 weeks. I was taping hind legs 3-4 times a day for 30 minutes each, not helping at all. His legs splay in the front and rear. I have tried rugs, rubber, slinging him taping front and hind but only 30 min sessions 3-4 times a day. I’m really worried about him. What am i doing wrong?

Hi there, we were offered a free frenchi with Isabella and platinum, however he has swimmers feet. She has bread for over 7 years and has never experienced this. He is now 6-7 weeks and I know in the video you had mentioned at that age it’s a little harder to work on that. Can I send you a video? Love My Pups thank you so much! I was so worried about them. We have 5 4-wee old Corgi’s and 2 of the larger ones have issues, 1 more than the other. It kinda freaked me out when I felt how flat he feels and see him swimming without getting up in his feet. I noticed it around 2 1/2 to 3 weeks but everyone I consulted said it was normal. I didn’t know if I should seek help from the vet.

4 week old feels flat chested .. no swimmer legs it walks just fine .. but we can feel the flat chest and she doesn’t eat as much as the other pups
I have seen people use cardboard roll split down one side and taped around chest as a cast But never done it myself🧐
