    This drum machine was used on the Beastie Boys "The New Style",
    Doug E. Fresh & Slick Rick "The Show", Mary Jane Girls "All Night Long",
    Run-DMC "Walk this Way" & "Sucker MC's", LL Cool J "I Need A Beat" &
    "Dangerous", Dr. Jeckyl & Mr. Hyde "AM / PM", Slick Rick's "Mona Lisa"
    and countless other tunes in the 80's. Some artists synched the DX
    together with the Roland 808 to create such tunes like "My Adidas"
    by Run-DMC.
    The best thing about the Oberheim machines was that you can pitch the
    sounds up or down and make the snare and kick more punchy when
    pitched up,

      @@StatetrooperBillyBill Run-DMC debuted the super 808 resonance with "Together Forever" (live in hollis park) which was the flipside to "Can you rock it like this" in 1985 and then continued incorporating the 808 and DMX with "My Adidas / Peter Piper" as well as straight 808 boom on songs like "Dumb Girl" and this was before Original Concept.

      @@StatetrooperBillyBill Nah. T-La Rock didn't let the 808 resonance open all the way
      on "It's yours". Run DMC did it with "Together forever".
      Plenty of people used the regular 808 before T-La Rock like Soul Sonic Force was 83.
      Even Mantronix in 85 with "Fresh is the Word" and "Needle to the Groove" but just like
      T-La Rock, they didn't turn up the bass resonance knob like Run-DMC did.
      It was Run-DMC that let the full "boom" resonance ride on wax first and then Beastie Boys did it on "Slow & Low" in 1985. #Facts

      @@AlexHandmaster You are correct. Run-DMC debuted the full resonance 808
      on "Together Forever" 💯

      @@StatetrooperBillyBill The first Def Jam release was Rick Rubin's band "Hose"
      T-La Rock "It's Yours" was on Partytime.
      The first "RAP" record on Def Jam was LL Cool J "I Need A Beat"

    • @NostalgicExplorer
      @NostalgicExplorer  6 месяцев назад

      It is a drum machine with many sound possibilities, from bboy rock to hip hop to LoFi, and many many more styles. Also, the fact that you can change the e-proms gives it even more versatility.

    going price for this is completely stupid, all because these artists used it. obviously i honor them. But for real an Analog Rytm can sound way beyond this and do everything better.

    • @NostalgicExplorer
      @NostalgicExplorer  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, it's a fun machine and more if you have it with MIDI, but I wouldn't recommend paying premium prices for a machine like this. Also, sometimes prices on Reverb or eBay often don't reflect the actual selling price.
      You can still find reasonable deals if you manage to connect with owners directly or through other channels, but these opportunities are becoming rarer. It's really a matter of patience and luck these days. Finding one at a good price used to be easier. Thanks for watching!
