RIP, Gordon Lightfoot. Changed my life for the better, and every song is perfect to listen to on a cold day. I know there were a lot of songs bigger than this one; this quiet 2020 release, but I go back to this song so often. There's something special in this song he could only seem to capture in his old age. I'll always treasure all his songs, but this one can't help but to stand out.
Just heard that Gordon has passed away today 😢
Rest In Peace Gordon Lightfoot. You were one of a kind and will be missed 😢
Memories of working for my dad. In Nebraska. Kfrm radio out of Concordia Kansas I miss those days so much. Gordon Lightfoot will always be alive in my mind forever. God bless canada
RIP! You still are an old friend through your music. Thank you for your music.
He can sing any story, he can write so beautifully, it's a real privilege to hear his voice and words
Love his voice
Always have time for listening to Gord. He got me through the difficult years in my life. Stay safe SIR.
I'm just sitting here watching this for the 100th time and still feel like crying 😢thinking about how it's been "oh, so sweet". Thank you for speaking the language of my heart, Mr. Lightfoot. Rock on.....
@Gordon Lightfoot
You're very welcome 🙏.
@Gordon Lightfoot the words between G and L and Gmail? I'm scared to communicate more online, I'm really scared I'll keep crossing people in my confusion and they will keep crossing me. I want a path

🤍 RIP Gordon 🤍🙏
Gordon is like that old wooden rocker that has been past down through generations, worn and battered creeks a bit but still just as comforting to rock in as the day it was made.
Yes 😊
Thanks for everything, Gordon. You were one of the best we've ever had.
You are Canada's gift to the world. Your songs are sweet like maple syrup.
This is a beautiful song from one of the best singer/songwriters of all time. Thank you for all the incredible music. Rest in peace, sir.
😞 … feeling like I lost an old friend. Fly high Gord, bless you, thank you. 🇨🇦 No regrets. ❤️🎵❤️
Railroading has lost one of its great troubadours. Unlike 2010 when the news was incorrect, this morning it's for real. Rest well, and like former Canadian National Railroad president Paul Tellier once said, think not of what you did, but what you left. O So Sweet is playing right now and I'm fighting back tears.
Mr, Lightfoot has been a part of my musical life when I first heard 'If You Could Read My Mind' way back in 1970 when I was only 14 years old. That song has always stayed with me, and I so much enjoyed hearing this thoughtful balladeer in the years since then and going back to his music before 1970. This acoustic collection of songs is just the icing on the cake of a brilliant career, cementing his status as one of the greatest songwriters of any generation. 'Oh So Sweet' is a recollection of years, put in his own words, haunting yet positive in it's approach to how all of us accept the life we've been given and how we've lived it. At 82 years young he is an impressive musical force that same as when I first heard him.
Me 2..i was 10 and that haunting voice has always been there. Huge dylan fan and he is 1 of the few to share that rarefied air....peace 2 u
12 in 1970 and remember so clearly. Great music stirs memories of those golden days gone by.
Yes, I was ten.
Gordon helped make my life " Oh So Sweet. "
Been 50 years since I first heard Gordon Lightfoot. His best music is, as always, looking inwards and relating things to us all. Now he's in his 80's, and time has diminished some of his skills. But with this new music, he shows the mind is still sharp as he delivers the message of an older man: always follow your own path, the one that's been there for you, and remember the best of times, for they are soon to come to their end. Thanks, Gord.
Love this. Thank you brother.
I can't express my feelings, he's been with me through out my childhood and I'm still listening to him long after my mom has been gone.. love .. so much love 💕
Hello 😊how are you doing today?
Wonderful! Gordon Lightfoot, you have the most beautiful singing voice.
Gordon, I saw you many years ago, in Ft. Wayne Indiana. Your concert was outdoors, at Franke Park. You and your band sounded so good, so clear, it could have been a studio recording. The years have added up for both of us, and I truly think this is one of the most touching, heartfelt, beautiful songs you have ever done. Bless you for a lifetime of giving yourself to so many others.
This is a great song to remember Gordon by. Thank You!
R.I.P. Sir and thank you for all the beautiful words that were expressed through your songs.
Rest in peace Sir. Thank you fir your masterful and beautoful songs.🙏🏾
God I love him!!! He changed my life for the better!! Thank you Gord !!!
Brings tears to my eyes. You are sweet. Thank you, beautiful song.
@Gordon Lightfoot I am honoured for your reply. Some of your songs remind me of King Solomon's writings. God gave you a special gift and you have shared it with the world. God Bless you.
@Gordon Lightfoot Mr. Lightfoot, I just wrote you. Hope you got. And thank you for all your kind words.
I’ve been listening to Gordon Lightfoot for 47 years. I never tire of his beautiful heartfelt songs. His music has helped me through many trying and difficult times. I wonder if he realizes how many lives he’s touched? I cherish his words and music
He's touched my life. I've been listening to Gordon Lightfoot ever since I was a little girl.
Hello 😊how are you doing today??
Same 😊
Lovely as ever Gordon.
May you keep writing and singing your beautiful songs, for you are Canada's troubadour and minstrel/legend.
xx ❤️
Hey 👋 , How are you doing today? It's nice to meet you on here.
A great song from the latter part of Gordon's long and distinguished career. R.I.P. Mr Lightfoot - you will be sadly missed!
Aren't we so fortunate to still have Mr. Lightfoot and his wonderful music. It always is OH SO SWEET!
Yes!! Very much so. Exactly. Always a pleasure to listen to to.
Hell I want him for my stocking!

Thank you brother Lightfoot.
RIP Gordon...now singing for the angels.
Hello 😊how are you doing today?
Rip my old friend I never met. You will be dearly missed.
God, I'm gonna miss this man so much.
Hello 😊how are you doing today??
This song reminds me of my momma. She is 88 years old and lives with dementia. She is very dear to me.
Someday all our memories may fade from our collective minds, but the feelings still remain. Always. For eternity.
Hold her close.
I treasure having grown up listening to your singing and music!! And I'm still growing up, listening to you😘🤗💖💖💖
Hello 😊how are you doing today??
just what i needed during these troubled times
Amen! Listening to this song brings me comfort compared to the doom and gloom and OMG mentality of the media and social media. It's nice to take a break from all that!
What an awesome career, you have made a mark in my life. I really enjoy your music.
The best folk artist of all time.
Agreed!!!
McCauley60 McMan60 Q. , AMEN
there's room for more than one. Bob Dylan shouldn't be ignored.
I’ll hoist a few to that!
Lets not forget Jim Croce either
Beautiful song ,Gordy one of my Favs .
R.I.P. Gordon Lightfoot One of his final hits before he passed
Pretty melancholy song. Many of Gords songs are…tugs at your heart strings…RIP Gordie!
Sir, you are like the Energizer Bunny... and I am so happy to have followed you through all of these years.
Wow, kind of says it all! RIP Gord.
R.I.P. Gordon You’ll be missed
I want this song played at my funeral.
Still putting out amazing music. Brilliant man, brilliant singer. There are no proper words for how moving your works are, Mr. Lightfoot.
RIP Mr. Lightfoot.
Many thanks, Gordon. Peace. -Seb!
I'll be singing this when I meet my Lord.
Thank you, GL. Thank you, Lord.
Call me crazy, but I love Gord's lean, beautiful old voice every bit as much, in a completely different way, from his thick resonant young voice. Like owning a dreadnought and a parlour guitar, they are so different in character, but both beautiful, and I can't decide which I love more.
Well said! Like fine wine, just gets better with time.
He is the BEST of the best!!!!!!!
You must play as well (I play an OM from Australia)... I agree. They both have their place and shine accordingly. Seeing him in two days in NJ. He is on my bucket list. :-)
Like John Prine, I love him old and...well just the way he was when he left us
Far from my crazy
Poetic & perfect
Pure beauty and redemption for our troubled times.
Best song he's done in years and that's saying something.
Is this new? He sounds great.
@@jamessmithe5490 The new album are all songs he wrote before. But he went into studio solo something like 6 months ago and recorded all the songs. A studio about 10 minutes from where I live. I think it being just him and his guitar brought out an energy in him.
I can’t believe how good this is.
He still sounds the same after more than 50 years. Absolutely iconic and unmistakable voice and music. This is what I want to hear on the radio if I turn it on.
When I was a young fella in the '70's, I was often asked "any relation of Gordon?", Yep he's my uncle I would reply... Didn't know who he was until my teens. I was reminded of this a few weeks ago when an old fella asked again. Keep safe "uncle".
Wow... nice to meet you Kyle. Sorry if I'm being nosy, but are you musically inclined?
@@metoo9360 Haha no, I'll leave that to "uncle" although my son plays acoustic guitar. Gordon is an inspirational musician. I enjoy his style, very mellow but yet true. I googled him tonight, and was surprised to find out that on my fathers 83rd birthday this year, Gordon turns 82 on the same day. I hope he stays safe in these troubled times. I live in New Zealand, where as of today we have no active covid cases on record, and our restrictions have been eased to pre-covid. I count us very lucky. ps thanks for asking.
@@kylelightfoot3669 That's outstanding that you have no covid cases there. The U.S. has almost 1/3 of the worldwide cases, and I hope we can get it under control. We could have learned from Italy, early in the game. My sister lives there and so far she and her husband have been able to avoid it.
I love your uncle's style of music, plus he is a brilliant genius with words... so relevant and makes me think more imaginatively. I would probably like your son's acoustic sound, too. I've been a Beatles and Paul McCartney fan since the early 60's.
Take care.
I refer to Ralph Stanley as Uncle Ralph even though we are not related that I know of
@@billharrison2503 LOL. Why not Uncle George (Harrison)?
Rest in peace Legend
Gordon you are a gift from God Almighty!
Beautiful song 💖
I hope you stay safe during this pandemic, Mr. Lightfoot. Take care of yourself.
@Gordon Lightfoot
Why are you pretending to be him?!
I fell in love with Gord and his music in the early 70s. I have seen him in concert a few times and I still remember how wonderful the man was and still is. By coincidence (or is it?) my husbands name is Gordon.
Thank you Gordon, you are my favourite musician
Oh the less we believe in the less we belong. Thank you Gordon Lightfoot.
He will be missed. RIP😢
Thanks Gordo for the gift of your music
@Gordon Lightfoot you just made my tough day better. See you Mar 21 in Sarasota!
Very cool song Brother I Shared your song to my Facebook page👍👍👍👍
Such great songs by a genius!
I am so happy!!!
Love his voice
New?
He sounds alot better on this than why not give it a try but he sounds bad compared to the old days it makes me sad
I love this song. It grows on you.
Hello 😊how are you doing today??
Such a full voice! Love Gordon Lightfoot! Not enough words in the world. He's a story teller too!
Legends never die ❤
How sweet it is Gordon! Rock on man!
A great example of aging gracefully and getting better yet. Thanks so much Gordon. You're still GREAT...
Blessed Amazing i love your music Mr.Lightfoot its part of the soundtrack if my life. Your Songs bring me great Peace Thank u.
When I die, this better be played at my wake.
Let me know if you have plans. I'd do my best. :)
Thank you for this album.. the “dislikes” are from people who can’t see you’re way over somewhere else now on your incredible canvas, and who can’t listen to a song more than once with an open heart and mind.
A true poet. And his songs are always the perfect marriage of words and music. I’ve been a fan for a half century, and his songs never get old. In fact, now in my dotage, they mean more to me than they ever have-especially this one. 🥹
May 1,2023 ❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🇨🇦

Gordon Lightfoot has a beautiful voice and plays😉 😍😍😎🎵🎶🎼🎵🎶🎵🎸beautiful on the guitar!!! Thank you so much for your beautiful song to listen too !!
HOW ARE YOU STILL ALIVE?! HOW ARE YOU STILL MAKING MUSIC?!
Oh wow, I am so incredibly HAPPY NOW!!!
He is planning on continuing touring when it is safe to do so, too. He's 81 now. :-)
Beautiful!
Gordon Gordon may not be an angel but he is inspired by the Angels of God and God is love
Sundown was my favorite song when i was 6 so i wrote gordon a letter and he sent back an autograph
The more I hear this song... the more I love it....
Bingo!
I feel the hidden messages in the artwork through the song right up to the graphic above. I so wish - still, after fifty plus plus years of being right there with you through your career, you and I could have about an hour's worth of coffee. It would be the highlight of the rest of my days. Seems we go near the same spots introspectively.
Also my husband used to be one of the ones who'd drive by at all hours, by the ravine, keeping watch. He took me by a few times, and knew not to speak; he just let me take in the night air of the lovely spot and listen to your music.
I've loved your work all this time... I think you left out Mountains and Mary Ann in your must have list during the interview tho. A beautiful tune.
Do you have a favourite charity Gord? I'd love to make a donation in your name.
If anyone reading this could pass that along to him, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks all, if you could.
Thank you Gord for giving so much of yourself tho I m sure there's so very much more kept private.
Love you, as much as a stranger can love another.... and there's the concept for your next little ditty.
RIP Gord 😢
Lyric and melody - quite the gift, thank you
