Anyone else recognise Pat Heywood here in 'Crown Court' playing Irene Sinclair, She was one of the four main actors who starred in the classic 1971 film '10 Rillington Place', Richard Attenborough, Judy Geeson, and John Hurt were the other three, Pat Heywood starred in the film as Ethel Christie alongside Richard Attenborough as Christie. I read Heywood and Geeson (Beryl Evans) are the only two survivors of the main cast of '10 Rillington Place', Geeson is 73 and Heywood is now 90. I remember Heywood gave a wonderful, believable performance as Ethel Christie.
I was a fan of the series. I thought it was well written and has brilliant plots. You were drawn into the story but never knew until the end who would win or loose.
It was a good series in the sense that it demonstrated how easily we can all feel quite certain of something, believing that we know all that we need to know, before we actually get to hear the other side of the question. And how effective lying by ommission can be. [Although lately that has been proved every day by the mainstream media.] Ms Goddard strong and stunningly gorgeous in this one. Thank you.
@@susanmorano405 I still have the 7" single of it somewhere, called "Distant Hills" played by the Simon Park Orchestra. On the other side is "Eye Level"; the theme for Van Der Valk.
Liza in The Brothers TV series in the 1970`s to me as a teenager was the most charasmatic epic Totty EVER . Absolutely loved the character she portrays here .
Surprised nobody's mentioned the lovely Jonathon Morris, sitting behind the defence, acting his socks off as an extra, he's around 18 here, very pretty chap!
@32:45 That is my assumption exactly! Anyone with me? Valerie hated her mother in law because she belittled her and humiliated her and on top of that made use of her so Valerie opted to frame her to push her out her life and her husband’s who in fact did not much care for Valerie but accepted her just fine. One question though.. why did they not save her after she fell off the boat into the waters and seemed like rowing away?? To treat her from her phobia?? Valerie is angry.. and wants to avenge herself! Still watching .. so maybe things will change but I’m on the side of the defendant! Mmm.. the whole picture is coming together @47:07 and I must say the son is very innocent. Honest and a very ordinary man and I happened to have seen mothers like his mom but truth be told she Knows she’s sometimes a nuisance.. regretting her behavior. We keep watching… 📺 A-haaa… justice! ☺️ Doesn’t Valerie get any kind of punishment for false accusations, wasting the court’s time?
I thought the defendant was guilty! However, I suppose there was enough reasonable doubt that the jury would acquit. I think the strongest evidence in her favour was that she wasn't big and strong enough to pull her daughter-in-law up from a sitting position.
Noo, there were more than that. Facts. Calculate facts and the truth will simply unveil right before you. It was clear that Valerie wanted to avenge herself But truth be told the mother in law did know she as herself was a nuisance and admitted it to the court, as always regretted her usual off behavior. I seen moms like her.
Although I did write my review right after the verdict, missing out on the very last scene between the son and his mom sure brought a new light. I think it was an accident after all!!! The mother had a plan, perhaps but failed to actually commit it when Valerie was afraid that the whole picnic idea was some kind of a trap and so she went hysterical as the idea grew on her. Being under the influence she lost balance and fell off the boat.

Oh my goodness. This brings back memories. I used to watch this at lunch time when I came home for lunch from school with my mum.
As did I!
I pray that both your moms are still well and healthy. ☺️
'70s British television was the best!
What a cast! I remember the series so well and I loved watching it with my mum at lunchtime.
Love Liza Goddard she's got such a distinctive voice.

The haunting theme tune is taken from Janacek's 'Sinfonietta'.

Thank you, I was wondering if it was an original or classical work

She's so funny.
"Now, Mr. Sellers can you tell us what happened next ?"
"Por favor ?"
Robert Flemyng was always playing the part of Judges on TV and in films. I think he was the most convincing actor for that role.

Liza Goddard is hilarious in this.
And Pauline Yates is as usual gorgeous.
Her accent is so cut glass I love it.
Classy lady.
Glad the judge said that at the end. Exactly what I was thinking from about 5 minutes in.
Dandy Nichols
Ah yes wow she always played those miserable old battleaxes.
ALF GARNETTS LONG SUFFERING WIFE ELSE
La Goddard being posh & superior deliciously divine xx.
She was very good in a couple of episodes of Bergerac, worth a view.
@@securityrobot Her character was called Philippa Vale, a notorious jewel thief, I believe, in Bergerac!
And the tragic Barry Evans.....
Cousin Nigel was a bit like Mickey from the League of Gentleman!
Exactly what I thought
That defense barrister reminds me of Horace Rumpole Esq.😄😄😄
Brilliant this

I spotted his hair immediately ;)
Please add some Bergerac and Give Us A Clue clips Liza, great memories from back in the day.
Murder weapon is not the boat. Water is the murder weapon. Tried to drown ,get it lawyer.
I wonder if this is were kelly Siegler got the inspiration from, when she took that bed into the courtroom LOL.
Seems to me Liza was capable of far better dramatic work than came her way.
Why it didn't, no idea.
Reggie Perrin's wife's a barrister !!
Alf Garnett’s “silly old moo” as defendant!
Cousin Nigel was the Wolverhampton yobbo in Nuts In May
Does anyone know the location of the road in Manchester on the closing sequence? (Or any of the other locations?)
Puzzled? This is an all studio episode.
