    ℹ️ About the Episode
In last week's email, we mentioned that we could never have imagined our family RV trip would eventually lead to an invitation by a Marine General to the Marine Barracks Evening Parade. We are beyond grateful for the opportunity, and so honored to be able to share these unique experiences with the KYD community. This episode is shorter than usual, for a couple of reasons. First, there was a lot that could not be recorded. But more importantly, we wanted to save our typical family shenanigans for a future video, and make this one about the remarkable individuals who serve our country. Lots of people have asked us if Washington, D.C. is an RV destination. The answer is a big Yes! Each time we visit D.C., the history and grandeur of the federal buildings fill us with awe. This visit, we stayed at Cherry Hill Park. We would recommend it to anyone traveling here by RV-and it was only about a 35-45 minute drive to "the mall." We were less than 1 hour from Annapolis, MD, another must-see destination for its history and charm. We strolled the streets and marina, and also toured the Naval Academy with Carson.

Serving and fighting... , when taps is played it is difficult to hold back tears , there I wasn't able to do that. The gravity of serving hits hard there... God bless my brothers and sisters who paid the ultimate price for our freedom.. democracy and freedom is not free, but it is worth fighting for. Thank you for showing a national treasure.

Each year our annual celebration is in December for the laying of the wreaths (Wreaths Across America) It almost got cancelled last year but our 45th President wouldn’t hear of it. My college roommate’s father was commandant of the Naval Academy in the early 70’s. Oh the parties. So many great memories. So happy you enjoyed your visit.

Thank you. It has been 10 years since I first saw all of this with my vietnam veteran father. In the middle of my living room, I stood for taps and was brought to tears like it was yesterday. I can't thank you enough for reminding me of the beauty and the emotion that is Arlington. Thank you to our soldiers past, present and future. Thank you, kyd. This was beautiful.

I’ve been watching your videos since you started, and this may be the best one yet. The way in which you portrayed our nations military and Arlington national cemetery was beyond respectful. I wish for your son great success in the greatest fighting force on earth. I pray that he will achieve all of his dreams.

I did not serve, but my father was a 23 year career army Vietnam veteran. He passed away a number of years ago due to complications from agent orange exposure. My youngest son is now serving active duty in the Navy. This video was so respectful of our military it honestly made me cry. Our military is such an under appreciated group, in my opinion. Your video was so honoring and respectful of them and their continued sacrifices. Thank you so much for this. It truly was a beautiful video.

I hope Carson understands sometimes we need to open the unexpected door to get where we need to be. Stay safe and healthy.

Pomp and Ceremony. I was a trombone player in the Army Band for 24 years. Pomp and Ceremony was my job. And for most of that time, I was the Drum Major (the guys out front with the mace) for the Drill Band. I LOVED this video. And Arlington Cemetery. The most sacred place in our country! It brings me to tears just watching your video. I must visit there again. Many civilians are awed by this, and rightly so. But a takes a miliary person to TRUELY understand. Thank you for this!

Thank you so very much for this video. I am a second generation retired Air Force Officer. My father was a career Air Force officer who began his career as a B-17 pilot in WWII and was killed in an aircraft crash in Vietnam. My wife and I have two sons. Our younger son was medically separated from the Air Force where he was a Captain in Security Forces with a tour in Qatar and one in Korea. Our older son is an Army Major who served one year in Iraq and had two year long tours in Afghanistan. The scenes of Arlington were particularly moving for me! Again thanks!

Watched this today - needing a break from the horrific current news. Knowing 13 US families will now have a flag draped coffin and face their own burials has burst my heart in grief for them. The timing of this video is surreal. So many have sacrificed it all and I suppose will continue to. Hug your son - he’s a hero. Thank you for honoring our military.
