I took a break from watching RUclips videos for a good minute. Turn on my TV, and you're the first gal to pop up on my screen... I can't express it enough. I truly enjoy your videos, your aura is vivacious and energetic, and then you thrown in your hospitality, humility, and simplicity, Sis, say no more, I'm SOLD! 😊❤
Aw, you are too good to me! Thank you my friend and it's so good to see you back! I understand needing a social media break from time to time! It's good for you!
Hiya lovely, I'm super grateful for your canning lesson. I've been wanting to do some for a while now, but I always thought I needed more things. Toad in the hole is Yorkshire pudding with sausages in it where I'm from a cheap and easy dish done in the oven. I'd call that egg in the hole but either way looked yummy x
Another great video! I am learning so much!! You would be a great teacher in the home economics department!! Love and Prayers to you, your family and your mom!
Helpful hint -- if you're worried about the sugar on the ginger just wash it alittle bit. Unsalted chips would be a heart healthy choice (for your mom). And if the basil has roots it should grow . I wish we had a food bank in my area, but I'm glad you can do what you do .❤️❤️
Gosh Muma, as one of your biggest fans I have to say this video takes the cake, you have excelled in your productions and I have watched you grow into this wonderful advocate for caning and preserving, saving food from waste, removing the shame of being in need, how to cook, buying and utilising the right equipment to make life easier with a low income, farm and enjoy nature and what you have everyday, be the best mom, wife and daughter, how to be your authentic self and I honestly could eat you up with a spoon because you’re simply scrumptious, I LOVE THIS CHANNEL!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤ and I hope your mama recovers fast, sending love and light xoxox ☮️
I absolutely love how much information you share and the food/preserving inspiration you give. Such a bright spot in my life 🌞 thank you my dear. Blessings and prayers to you and your family
I really love your “why not” attitude. Cooking is all about experimentation. If ya don’t try it, how do you know it’s good. Keep up the deliciousness!!!❤
I am widowed and retired, live with my 2 dogs...I share a lot of what I get at the food pantries with others...those clementines look great...prayers for your Mama, I've had 2 heart attacks myself...tyfs...
Nice haul you got there my beautiful friend, I love anything basil! And I love sparkling water, thank you for taking time out of your day to share your blessings with us, God bless you Today Tomorrow and 4ever, have a goodnight🥀
Toad in a hole has been a general favourite in our family I'm 71 and remember having tis as a small child and still have them occationally, like you I have my egg running but husband likes them well cooked. Any sprinkle or hot sauce adds flavour.
I think that was the best video you've made bc you showed how to do things WITHOUT the fancy equipment. I'm currently saving for a pressure canner, I've been apprehensive to try water bath canning, but you really showed me how easy it can be. Thanks!
My niece doesn’t like the crust on her sandwiches so my sister-in-law saves them and put them in her freezer and then makes croutons with them. She cuts them up tosses them with olive oil and Parmesan and then bakes them like you did. They turn out really good!
Hi Mama Baird good morning happy Friday morning and I hope you having amazing day today and I loved your vlogs and you are amazing Supporter and I'm proud of you
You could totally crush those chips up and make cookies with them. I don’t have a recipe but I tried one at a friends house and it was shockingly good.
Thank you so much, because of you I went to my mobile food bank today. I can't stress this enough thank you for giving me the peep talk I needed to finally do this. Now I need a recipe for a pound of hazelnuts. Thank you and God bless. 🤗
Wonderful! I'm so happy to hear you went!! Are you apart of my Facebook group? We have an amazing support group there! Mama Baird's Homestead is the group!
I got a ton of clementines from a friend a few years back and I made marmalade out of it... it was divine! I gave it out as gifts to friends & fam, and they're constantly asking me to make more, lol 💜 **Edit... So sorry to hear about your mom! I'll pray for a quick recovery, sending healing vibes her way
Mama Baird...speaking of drying bread-i make a big pan of cornbread. after we have several pieces with beans-i crumble it all (not too small) up on a cookie sheet and dry it in the oven till crunchy and hard. i use it for cold cereal. i put the big crumbles in a bowl and add milk and sugar. its so good. i learn so much from your videos. thank u for this fun channel.
I use the rings from caning to cover the bottom of the pot to water bath on. It works better then a towel. It doesn't hurt the rings. Enjoyed the video.
Another way to dry the bread is to place the slices of bread & rolls straight on the oven racks without tearing them up. Bake at 200* to make very dry toast.
My Mom canned the water bath technique for many many years til she was able to get a pressure canner. Oh the summers were so unbearable when canning but oh the delicious fresh food we had all winter. She made peach preserves one summer as a neighbor had a peach tree and the fruit would just rot, but loved the peach preserves.
hi luv watching you in the uk i’m from Canvey island England toad in the hole is sausages cooked in yorkshire pudding batter you cook sausages then pour over batter cook in oven till it’s risen an puffy
I save all my bread ends in the freezer and then use it to make homemade stovetop stuffing. It's so easy and delicious. You can vacuum seal it too and keep it on your pantry shelf.
I had gotten some free bread. Dried it in oven, had my own croutons, bread crumbs, and made stuffing withe rest. I divided it he stuffing and put in freezer in 2 portions for later. I did put sage ,celery ,onion ,canned chicken In the drsg. So very good. Our food pantry is in a very small building. It is open 2 hrs on Wednesday afternoon only. Pretty long lines
Those are great ideas. Man that is a very short time frame. Probably why the lines are so long. I'm glad you are able to get some food though. It's worth the line to be able to get some. Well, my opinion anyway!
From the NYer LOL - Challah is an enriched bread - not quite as 'rich' as brioche which you're obviously familiar with - so you can treat it sort of the same. Great for sandwiches if it's fresh enough- delicious for toast and french toast My husband would eat that sushi ginger straight from the jar! I didn't know they even did that! Wishing your mother a speedy recovery
Hello Carolina great pantry haul. I love toad in a hole and i like it soft the way you like it my husband gets grossed our when i make dippy eggs or soft eggs my kids like it there eggs runny too my husband always says i broke the kids i just tell him they are smart like their mother. I am so jealous of your snow we didn't get any this year. Hope you have a wonderful week Carolina.
I have a tip. I have a baisl plant. Place the whole plant in a small bowl with water (keep it watered) and just pick off the leaves as needed. It will last a long time.
My nephew works at a food bank. He said they get tons of stuff from stores. They also deliver to those who can’t get their. If they don’t have people take it volunteers take what they want and the rest goes to a pick farmer.
Excellent video ! I’m learning new things every video I watch ……you’re doing so well with your channel …congratulations ! I just need a bigger kitchen 🫤so I have places for everything as my cupboard space is minimal…here in Australia it’s very rare for houses to have a basement and every house I’ve ever lived in has lacked storage space…… hubby says nothing new to come into the house until I get rid of lots of stuff …lol…so I will have to sneak purchases in once I get out to the shops ..I’ve been stuck at home with covid19 then long covid for almost four months and just don’t feel well enough to go anywhere or do much 😞 One little hint ..if my big pot isn’t full of jars I add jars of water so it’s full….I find it stops jars falling over or moving around too much … I dread a broken jar …lol..
If you still have the rooted basil, just cut each stem above the leaves closest to the roots and it will definitely continue to grow. If you cut it above the bottom leaves there will be nothing to absorb the sun and create new leaves
My husband calls the egg in bread...Popeyes! He has eaten them since a kid and at 63 still loves them! Our oldest grandson loved them so much he would get the small pan my husband used and bring to him to let him know he wanted one...which was most mornings!! He wasn't even 2 yo and we got him his own pan and spatula for Xmas!! He was so excited! Sweet memories! From Montgomery al ❤️ 💕
Great video! Love how you promote the food bank ❤ can you tell me how the cuties taste after canning? Silly question I know, but curios as to the texture. Coffee ☕️ and momma Baird makes my morning 🌞
Oh my gosh, I didn't know you can water bath with those jars!!! Now I'm saving all the jars. I just canned oranges for the first time a couple weeks ago.
I take left over bread and do the same as you to make bread crumbs as well. I also use it to make a breakfast casserole for breakfast. I have even used day old doughnuts to make this casserole and it is so good!
Buy me a coffee to support this channel! All coffees bought this month will go to kids activities for the summer! Thanks everyone!

Thanks for the clarification! I need to try a real toad in the hole now!
I agree! #bestspiration
Your right about if you go to a food pantry the more people they serve the more funding they get
I am perfectly normal😂😂😂 oh yes me also when I am dancing and signing, to myself, in the kitchen😏
Also love getting to see the beautiful mountains annnnnnd the chickens (and cake, lol)
I love that you just showed your viewers how to can and preserve without fancy equipment...it’s so valuable for those that don’t know it’s possible. ❤
Thank you+
A
Nd for those that can’t afford the fancy expensive equipment.
Lol, she has an $80 food chopper and several thousand dollar freeze drier. I would say that was fancy equipment she used in this video.
“Bestpiration date” is definitely getting added to my repertoire!!!
Haha! Love it!
Carolina
Enjoyed seeing your food bank haul. Good looking food. Chicken stew is yummy.
Thanks so much!
Another great video! I am learning so much!! You would be a great teacher in the home economics department!! Love and Prayers to you, your family and your mom!
Thank you Pam!
I needed this video. Watching it with my husband now before he leaves for work 😊❤
Another great video!!! Thank you for taking the time to make it for us. It is appreciated 🙂
You bet!

Thank you! Thank you for continuing to remind your viewers about food waste! And to encourage them to utilize their local food banks.

Love. Your new dutch oven. Thank you for always sharing tips.
Loved the video, and the stew you made looked tasty! It's so nice when you're able to use so much that you have preserved yourself !
I agree! Love that it was almost all home made!
Bestpiration date!!!!! Love it
You are so right. Home grown tomatoes are the best.
I really love your “why not” attitude. Cooking is all about experimentation. If ya don’t try it, how do you know it’s good. Keep up the deliciousness!!!❤

You are so kind! Thank you!
Nice haul 😘
FABULOUS video.....
Thank you+
Good haul. We are limited to 1 bread. Blessed to be able to have a food bank helping us
You could use some of the ginger for ginger tea too.
Toad in a hole has been a general favourite in our family I'm 71 and remember having tis as a small child and still have them occationally, like you I have my egg running but husband likes them well cooked. Any sprinkle or hot sauce adds flavour.

Oh that does sound good! I'll have to give that a try!
Another great video! I wouldn't cut the basil all tge way down, but about 1/3 at a time. Might bectoo much of a shoch to cut back all tge way.
I use the rings from caning to cover the bottom of the pot to water bath on. It works better then a towel. It doesn't hurt the rings. Enjoyed the video.
Great idea!!
I just started to watch your channel love it I had to take advantage of our food pantry this year we get to shop here took from Iowa
Another way to dry the bread is to place the slices of bread & rolls straight on the oven racks without tearing them up. Bake at 200* to make very dry toast.
The bread with the egg in the middle would be yummy with a slice of cheese melted on top and some of that fresh basil you got!
Great idea!!
Also, you should put a square dish under your dicer. I’ve done that and it always catches the most compared to other shapes lol
Thank you for the idea about the oranges, I liked that. Have a great night
My grandfather always called them ..eggs in a basket.. Great video!

i used that chopper when i worked at steak n shake to dice onions and tomatoes
I love it so much!!
My nephew works at a food bank. He said they get tons of stuff from stores. They also deliver to those who can’t get their. If they don’t have people take it volunteers take what they want and the rest goes to a pick farmer.
That's great they get to get the left overs!
We've always called the toad in the whole ,birds nest. My Dad was from Wisconsin and we added a little syrup.
Mad love girl… hope all is well with your momma❤ love the hair color too, looks great! 😊
Thank you so much!!
Add a slice of tomato and spinach leaf for flavor.
We always called it a "birds nest"

You know what makes the perfect circle in bread for Toad in the Hole??? The lid to cooking spray… :)
ooohhh...I'll give that a try!! Thank you!!
I save leftover bread in the freezer for dressing.
My husband makes french toast out of challah.

Oh that would be good!!
The challah bread is a Jewish bread eaten on the sabbath. It’s an eggy bread and yes it makes great French toast. Love your videos and your family.
Thank you!
We have eaten this my whole life and we call it egg in a top hat...
In the UK toad in the hole are sausage links cooked with batter around them, its so yummy! Yours looks great too! 👍
Oh that sounds so yummy too!
THAT HALLA BREAD MAKES GOOD BREAD PUDDING SWEET OR SAVORY
How long do u think the breadcrumbs will last for
I could eat that sushi Ginger straight out of the jar. I love that stuff
You could make a stir fry with the sushi ginger. Use the orange peels to make some sherbet- so good and fizzy.
Those are great ideas! Thanks!
I would use the brioche rolls to make mini meatball subs.
