The talk about Light and Darkness, beings that rule over the Dark Side, the big heroes and villains fighting with an iconic sword both sides are known for, the Dark Cloaks, Xemnas basically fights with two red lightsabers, then we have Terra’s storyline that’s almost a carbon copy of the rise of Darth Vader.

Agreed. People criticize the game’s story by saying Terra is a bumbling idiot that can’t see how blatantly evil Xehanort is, which is true from the audience’s perspective. But from Terra’s perspective, Xehanort is, like you said, a highly respect master alongside Eraqus, to whom to Terra’s knowledge is seen as a friend to Eraqus. So Terra really doesn’t have much reason not to trust Xehanort if Eraqus respects him. I think it’s a pretty decent implementation if not a bit too obvious instance of dramatic irony.
@@chanlaman2565 Terra is even the one actually grows as a character, or at least has the best setup for a character arc. He takes responsibility like an adult. Him fighting his master to defend Ventus was the best decision, and one he took with care and consideration given the dire situation, (one example of a handful of great Terra-moments), but rather than him taming his inner monster and becoming a competent combatant, it's written off as Terra letting the darkness take control of him, and that annoys me to no end...

Yen Sid literally said "I must not make assumptions" meaning he thinks that Xehanort is to blame for the Unversed and involved nefariously from the start but doesn't voice such thoughts. Eraqus also never tells anyone of how Xehanort used darkness to scar him. The fact they would send Terra, who already has trouble controlling his darkness and who is in an extremely vulnerable mindset due to the Mark of Mastery bring ahead bid insecurities, speaks volumes. They were idiots who didn't take Terra into account despite knowing Xehanort for years and knowing full well what he was capable of. Nevermind the fact that Eraqus never questioned what the hell Xehanort did to Ventus and how suspicious it was. If those two had actual been good mentors they would've gone after Xehanort themselves, not leaving inexperienced students to follow an extremely suspicious and manipulative master on their own. The fact that Yen Sid lords over Sora later makes it so much worse since where was he when Ansem and Xemnas we're threats? Why leave that to a teenager with no training and then later discount all his achievements?? They were awful masters.
If you didn’t notice, Xigbar got his scars in his face by the darkness Terra shot at him. I love how BBS explains such subtle details and backstories. And we are just scratching the surface at the moment! Iam hyped for Vens and especially Aquas playtrough!😁

OK agree to not judge by the cover/how evil he looks. Agree. But that doesn't mean to trust blindly, first and foremost you gotta think for yourself. When he says something that doesn't feel right you don't do it and talk it over, maybe flight back to Eraqus and see what he says and then see which opinion sounds better. I love BBS but I do think the story happens because extreme dumbness. Edit: Also judging someone by a title is similar to judging by the cover. Like "oh he is the Director of a company then for sure he's smart and knows what to do" (odds are that he is smart but anyway whatever he says shouldn't be done blindly)
@@RobMedellin The thing is he not only is a Keyblade Master; he is also the friend of Eraqus, their Master, and the only other time they saw him was when he brought Ventus and he looked "worried" when he had that attack. From their point of view, he was someone to trust. And THAT is how he made Terra doubt and do things normally he wouldn't. By then, Terra resented his Master Eraqus because he felt Eraqus doesn't trust him because of his darkness, while Xehanort said to him it was all ok, since Light and Darkness are supposed to be in balance (a logical thing) while Eraqus is fully on the Light. And in this fight, Terra feels he is not worthy of being with Eraqus because Darkness, so Xehanort offered him a new home, technically, to be his master.
As somebody who has caught up with the Lore, the fact that of all the people he wants to get rid of, XIGBAR is at the top of his list just makes me love his reactions even more. Especially since I love this sarcastic asshole! He's not ready for the ones one should REALLY hate! XD

He deliberately ignores the chat talking about the game to avoid spoilers, which is a good thing, and people who play Kingdom Hearts often overlook so many mechanics that the games include until they reach a point where they have to use them and then go "wait, that was here the whole time!?!" and start using them in subsequent playthroughs.
It's funny because he was asleep from CoM to 2, so, so by this point Sora's awre of having been an active Keyblade Wielder for what? A month? 2 months, tops? And then there's Riku and Roxas who have a whole extra year under their belt.
This is why I like Terra so much. He doesn’t “fall for it” like a fool. He’s getting the ego stroke of a lifetime from Xehanort. That “Master Terra” that he said? Perfect manipulation through the one thing Terra never got from Eraqus. Acknowledgement. And that’s perfect.
The abilities you can make by melding together different ones is pretty cool. Aqua, Ventus, and Terra each have abilities completely unique to them that you can make.

@@ShaDowMo5es no it doesn't hold up but it was impressive at the time for a psp game. Crisis core fared way better as you've stated. Birth by sleep I think aged the best by far because of its art style. Outside of certain small things you would not be able to distinguish it from the ps2 games even when remastered to much higher resolutions like 1080p or even 4k
I wouldn’t put so much blame on Aqua. She isn’t intending to be meddlesome, arrogant or militant but she is genuinely concerned not just for Terra but for Ventus. All that she knows is that every time she goes to a new world, she is left having to clean up the mess that Terra and Ventus left behind. Aqua means well, but her concern falls on deaf ears with Terra’s enraged jealousy of her and Ventus’s annoyance with her “nagging”.
She shouldnt feel like she should have that much responsibility over her friends. She reminds me of one of those super-authority like substitute teachers, and luckily Terra/Ventus are the students that clown on them for being bitchy and annoying. Intentional or not, all she has to do is warn Eraqus. Terra is grown, he can do what he wants and unless Terra is specifically harming someone else intentionally, it's none of Aqua's business. Let's hypothetically say all 3 of these characters are friends(trust me, they aren't, this game does a horrible job of showing it), if they tell you to leave them alone, you leave them alone. Ventus needs to learn that too. I think at some point he does and just starts visiting worlds to make friends, but Aqua actually lets her being a Master go to her head like Ventus said. In this scenario, Ventus and Aqua go home, Terra continues defeating the unversed for his 2nd chance to become Master. Xehanort probably won't be able to kill Eraqus with Aqua and Ventus(and possibly Terra) around, and Eraqus won't be able to kill Ventus, +Aqua would be the voice of reason to get him to calm down. Vanitas isn't able to persuade Ventus to leave because Aqua and Eraqus(and again, possibly Terra) are there. No X-Blade is made. Terra either would have to fight Xehanort on his own or he comes back and all 4 of them fight Xehanort and Vanitas. Terra dying is probably the only likely death here. Now obviously I'm not saying that this is specifically how it'd play out, but if Aqua and Ventus went the fuck home, it would've played out in a much safer way.
But she always has the tendency to not listen to her friends either and does see herself as being more responsible due to being a master now. You see a definite shift in how she reacts to the others compared to the opening of the game, so Ven was right about her letting herself being a master get to her head.
It is, honestly. It gets a lot of hate for its gameplay in comparison to KH1 and 2, which I agree is somewhat warranted. What people forget is that BBS shines in several other areas like music and story, just like the other games in the series. You can say the KH story became infinitely more complicated due to BBS, but the game does well explaining itself and foreshadowing the games that come later chronologically while also adding to the story. Gameplay, while very important, is not the only thing that can make a game memorable.
I gotta say, this is probably one of my favorite kh games. And that's saying a lot since kh is my favorite kh franchise. I think the way this game blends all 3 routes is great and the gameplay while certainly not on par with kh2, it's fun in its own right. You gotta remember that this game had a much smaller budget than kh2, so it wouldn't be fair expecting the same level of quality from both. Especialy when you realize this came out originaly on the PSP.
It was good given the limitations of the PSP. However, it did introduce the floatiness and went all in on bosses that had no stagger which made people spam Mine abilities or ranged abilities.

Imagine you are raised as the son of a pastor. You are taught to respect your elders above anything, and that all your desires are to be controlled by them. Then, your pastor father invites a fellow pastor over, who is so much more lax, that you really gel with. Sure he's a little scary looking, but you have too much respect for him by default for that to be a red flag. And he tells you "Hey, those desires you have are all right, I believe you can control them yourself." and "Your father is much stricter than me. I would have inaugurated you no problem. In fact, you are a pastor, now." Who would you like more?
Honestly, once you learn Eraqus' past with Xehanort it makes zero sense as to why he would let Xehanort be around Terra especially, especially since he never warned Terra or anything. Eraqus was such a shit master/father figure... Hell EVERY Master in these games are shit. The fact that they let Sora, a literal CHILD, risk his life again and again should tell us a lot about how rubbish they all are.
@@lilchaos9212 Your last point is simply a byproduct of the nature of video games/fiction in general. Main characters are usually in their mid to late teens because that's the age group that most people can relate to. And their adventures always put them in danger - their parents and mentors should never allow it, but they do. Even something as "child friendly" as Pokemon is ridiculous when you think about it: a 10-12 year old kid is allowed to travel the world by themselves while exploring areas with dangerous wild animals and coming into conflict with criminal organizations.
Boy.. Do the command boards and synthesize commands. You're gonna have a very bad time in this game (Especially with Ventus early on) if you dont get the Second Chance and Once More commands. XP And thats for regular gameplay - Not even for the Secret bosses. :P And. JUST To make your life easier - Here is a single "cheat code" for this whole entire game: Block/Barrier + Curaga (level 4) OR Esuna = Heal Block/Barrier. It basically heals you when someone hits you while you've got your defense move up. VERY useful in fights.

At least Terra’s mistakes stem from naivety, overly trusting and sincere nature, insecurities, and fears of being abandoned and a failure. Aqua’s comes from pride and arrogance. Her one sided friendship is so shallow. luckily she seems to lose that aspect of her after being punished for being so. That said, it feels unfair that Terra is demonized for his mistakes but not Aqua. It’s the golden child scapegoat effect. Also, don’t trust Just a Pancake, man said Xion was a bad character and literally dislikes every female character KH has. Except maybe Namine. He doesn’t seem to have an opinion on her.
@@ma.2089 I'm glad someone else agrees that Aqua is one of the more unintelligent characters in KH. I can't fucking stand her. That, mixed with her monotone voice makes her the worst "main" character in the series for me. How anyone can like her is beyond me. I figure a lot of KH fans are also anime fans and it just stems from that or the fact that she's a woman with boobs. Plot could've played completely differently if she didn't sacrifice herself for Terranort. She basically chose her friends over the entire universe.

In the process of collecting gameplay clips of cool commands, shotlocks, attacks, and reactions DeeBee is in danger of never experiencing. Hopefully he grinds for the secret stuff so I can have the compilation ready before he moves on!
(Talking about Braig) This is one of the harder bosses on Critical, especially because Terras guard is notoriously bad, according to the speedrunning community. So glad I wasn't the only one who struggled on this boss. Even on Normal he was a pain.
Terra’s gameplay shows the biggest faults of BBS’s ‘floaty’ combat. He does not have the movement tools to deal with bosses like Braig’s quick rapid fire attacks because his physical attacks are slow as molasses, and his block and dodge move are shit compared to Aqua and Ven. It is so frustrating to feel this limited in movement during combat because your attacks feel like they have no weight because you take FOREVER to return to the ground, resulting in frustration like what’s seen in this video. It’s what makes BBS and by extension Dream Drop Distance hated among the hardcore KH fanbase and speedrunning community
About the combat system of BBS the only problem, but not at the level of 3D, is how it falls into spam the same overpowered technique (thunder surge and maybe seeker mines with Aqua), because you can obtain that numerous times plus 2 or 3 curaga and you only need to spam and cure when you need it. In 3D is the same but you use autoaim balloons.

I think Nomura stated that Braig/Xigbar was one of his favorite characters. I love him as a villain. This was one of my favorite games in the series. I think you will really love it once you play it all.
Deebeegeek just for tip, combine your attacks in the command melding so you can find new skills and don't forget the shotlock holding R1 down and check in the shotlock command as well.
31:52 Yeah, BBS is especially notorious for floatiness in the combat. Conversely, the combat system lets you use a few unique spells that you wouldn't expect to be useful on a boss. Especially the human ones.

Man, I'm loving this playthrough. It got me playing BBS all over again, at once rediscovering things for myself and being excited for DeeBee to have his mind blown by certain things or to get mega excited by others. Only thing I might recommend at this point is for him to mess around in the arena (with zero experience equipped if he doesn't want to get OP) as it's fairly good about prompting the use of different mechanics for various missions. Regardless of that, I can't wait to see more!
CriticalMode needs Second Chance + Once More (aka withstand combo) to survive boss attacks with 1hp left... Second Chance = Meld "Pulsing Crystal" with commands like Blizzara + Blizzara :) Once More = Meld "Wellspring Crystal" with commands like Fira + Fira :D

You don't have to read the reports, but you NEED to collect all 13 to unlock the 4th chapter. Each character gets to find some. One of Terra's is in the optional Mirage Arena as a prize.
30:07 you need to grind out and fuse commands so you can get Second Chance and Once More. They are required for all boss fights from this point and onwards.
Pro tip with no spoilers If you make the final tier of cure and meld it with block command with every character u can get a block that heals you And use the hallway outside the bedroom in enchanted domination to grind levels fast and easy
Xehanort is a manipulative lying sack of doo doo! That was no accident! Ventus had very little darkness and refused to cooperate. He never succumbed to darkness. Xehanort just wanted to use Ventus for his own selfish ends. When Ventus's usefullness came to an end, Xehanort abandoned him on Destiny Island to die! It was only the intervention of Sora's newly born heart joining with Ventus that saved him. It was only after Ventus showed signs of life that Xehanort changed his mind and brought him to Eraqus. If you want know how Venitus ended up trapped in Ventus heart, play Union cross. All Xehanort did was to free Venitus from his imprisonment. Xehanort referred to Ventus in, Dream Drop Distance, "as the boy who refused to become the blade."
Onto the second episode, idk if you have learnt this yet but you have to look up how melding works, from using the crystals you get from certain chests/enemies you can gain special abilities and better commands. Example Max Level Cure+Max level cure is Cura, but you can use the crystals for abilities such as cure boost and such. Certain command melds can give you Second Chance, Once more, and many more things, so that you dont suffer like you did during the Dickbar fight. Search up the mending combinations, meld your commands, and you will suffer less. These are also very helpful ESPECIALLY on critical mode, so take the time to do so. For your own good guy, do so. Take care.
They see the spoiler since you are receiving this part of kingdom hearts but The reason why Roxies can use to key blades because when he defeated she on he exhort some of her powers including her key blade allowing him to use two key blades instead of one.

Ah yes, your worst enemy. The REPORTS! Speaking of which, I'm sure Bernwolff will inform you when the time comes, but there is a report that is required for plot progression that's fairly out of your way to get. It's pretty bad design as the other reports are generally in your face or given to you, but it might be worth keeping an eye out for that. Not saying it's difficult to get, but that most people doing casual playthroughs and not completing everything could very easily miss it.
Hopefully you'll use Shotlocks as you play through the game. It's literally free damage. Also I hope to see you play the command board thing. Personally I think it's a fun side game that also levels up your commands.
You see the difference in your play style when you won… and it’s like your struggles with certain bosses in older games. When you take your time and let the boss go thru their motions and attack when you have an opening… it’s very easy. It’s not always mash x and triangle.
I love how much you appreciate these games and I’m looking forward to watching you play through the rest. Kingdom Hearts is one of my favorite games and it’s nice seeing you enjoy it too.
This is my 2nd favorite kingdom hearts or tied with first it's such a good game. Each character depending in your own skill and difficulty setting takes only about 8 hours each (if u skip all cutscenes ofc)
Someone should probably tell him that he can change his finishers, and that Terra specializes in using Physical attack commands rather than magic commands. Also, how often does he meld? Personally, I thought Braig was a pretty easy fight.
It’s weird seeing someone struggling against Braig. He’s one of the easier ones for me. I mean no offense and some people struggle with things others don’t. Once I realized you could reflect his shots he was pretty easy for me. It’s interesting seeing how different people struggle with different things.
@@ceraunah That’s true. It’s been a long time since I played Birth by Sleep, HD or otherwise so I don’t really remember the stress. I vaguely remember a learning curve from playing Critical on PSP way back though.

Him fighting his master to defend Ventus was the best decision, and one he took with care and consideration given the dire situation, (one example of a handful of great Terra-moments), but rather than him taming his inner monster and becoming a competent combatant, it's written off as Terra letting the darkness take control of him, and that annoys me to no end...
@@chanlaman2565 yeah it anything it is Yen Sid and Eraqus to blame. Yen Sid literally said "I must not make assumptions" meaning he thinks that Xehanort is to blame for the Unversed and involved nefariously from the start but doesn't voice such thoughts. Eraqus also never tells anyone of how Xehanort used darkness to scar him. The fact they would send Terra, who already has trouble controlling his darkness and who is in an extremely vulnerable mindset due to the Mark of Mastery bring ahead bid insecurities, speaks volumes. They were idiots who didn't take Terra into account despite knowing Xehanort for years and knowing full well what he was capable of. Nevermind the fact that Eraqus never questioned what the hell Xehanort did to Ventus and how suspicious it was. If those two had actual been good mentors they would've gone after Xehanort themselves, not leaving inexperienced students to follow an extremely suspicious and manipulative master on their own. The fact that Yen Sid lords over Sora later makes it so much worse since where was he when Ansem and Xemnas we're threats? Why leave that to a teenager with no training and then later discount all his achievements?? They were awful masters.

To be fair, Xehanort is a respected Keyblade master. Terra doesn't really have reasons to not trust him. Sure, he looks pretty evil, but you don't judge a book by it's cover, right?

OK agree to not judge by the cover/how evil he looks. Agree. But that doesn't mean to trust blindly, first and foremost you gotta think for yourself. When he says something that doesn't feel right you don't do it and talk it over, maybe flight back to Eraqus and see what he says and then see which opinion sounds better.
I love BBS but I do think the story happens because extreme dumbness.
Edit: Also judging someone by a title is similar to judging by the cover. Like "oh he is the Director of a company then for sure he's smart and knows what to do" (odds are that he is smart but anyway whatever he says shouldn't be done blindly)
@@RobMedellin The thing is he not only is a Keyblade Master; he is also the friend of Eraqus, their Master, and the only other time they saw him was when he brought Ventus and he looked "worried" when he had that attack. From their point of view, he was someone to trust.
And THAT is how he made Terra doubt and do things normally he wouldn't. By then, Terra resented his Master Eraqus because he felt Eraqus doesn't trust him because of his darkness, while Xehanort said to him it was all ok, since Light and Darkness are supposed to be in balance (a logical thing) while Eraqus is fully on the Light. And in this fight, Terra feels he is not worthy of being with Eraqus because Darkness, so Xehanort offered him a new home, technically, to be his master.
As somebody who has caught up with the Lore, the fact that of all the people he wants to get rid of, XIGBAR is at the top of his list just makes me love his reactions even more. Especially since I love this sarcastic asshole!

He deliberately ignores the chat talking about the game to avoid spoilers, which is a good thing, and people who play Kingdom Hearts often overlook so many mechanics that the games include until they reach a point where they have to use them and then go "wait, that was here the whole time!?!" and start using them in subsequent playthroughs.

This is why I like Terra so much. He doesn’t “fall for it” like a fool. He’s getting the ego stroke of a lifetime from Xehanort. That “Master Terra” that he said? Perfect manipulation through the one thing Terra never got from Eraqus. Acknowledgement. And that’s perfect.
The abilities you can make by melding together different ones is pretty cool. Aqua, Ventus, and Terra each have abilities completely unique to them that you can make.
I hope he would use the crystal or shards to expand the abilities and stats

Birth by sleep I think aged the best by far because of its art style. Outside of certain small things you would not be able to distinguish it from the ps2 games even when remastered to much higher resolutions like 1080p or even 4k
I wouldn’t put so much blame on Aqua. She isn’t intending to be meddlesome, arrogant or militant but she is genuinely concerned not just for Terra but for Ventus. All that she knows is that every time she goes to a new world, she is left having to clean up the mess that Terra and Ventus left behind.
Aqua means well, but her concern falls on deaf ears with Terra’s enraged jealousy of her and Ventus’s annoyance with her “nagging”.

She shouldnt feel like she should have that much responsibility over her friends. She reminds me of one of those super-authority like substitute teachers, and luckily Terra/Ventus are the students that clown on them for being bitchy and annoying. Intentional or not, all she has to do is warn Eraqus. Terra is grown, he can do what he wants and unless Terra is specifically harming someone else intentionally, it's none of Aqua's business.
Let's hypothetically say all 3 of these characters are friends(trust me, they aren't, this game does a horrible job of showing it), if they tell you to leave them alone, you leave them alone. Ventus needs to learn that too. I think at some point he does and just starts visiting worlds to make friends, but Aqua actually lets her being a Master go to her head like Ventus said.
In this scenario, Ventus and Aqua go home, Terra continues defeating the unversed for his 2nd chance to become Master. Xehanort probably won't be able to kill Eraqus with Aqua and Ventus(and possibly Terra) around, and Eraqus won't be able to kill Ventus, +Aqua would be the voice of reason to get him to calm down. Vanitas isn't able to persuade Ventus to leave because Aqua and Eraqus(and again, possibly Terra) are there. No X-Blade is made. Terra either would have to fight Xehanort on his own or he comes back and all 4 of them fight Xehanort and Vanitas. Terra dying is probably the only likely death here.
Now obviously I'm not saying that this is specifically how it'd play out, but if Aqua and Ventus went the fuck home, it would've played out in a much safer way.

But she always has the tendency to not listen to her friends either and does see herself as being more responsible due to being a master now. You see a definite shift in how she reacts to the others compared to the opening of the game, so Ven was right about her letting herself being a master get to her head.

It is, honestly. It gets a lot of hate for its gameplay in comparison to KH1 and 2, which I agree is somewhat warranted. What people forget is that BBS shines in several other areas like music and story, just like the other games in the series. You can say the KH story became infinitely more complicated due to BBS, but the game does well explaining itself and foreshadowing the games that come later chronologically while also adding to the story. Gameplay, while very important, is not the only thing that can make a game memorable.
I gotta say, this is probably one of my favorite kh games. And that's saying a lot since kh is my favorite kh franchise. I think the way this game blends all 3 routes is great and the gameplay while certainly not on par with kh2, it's fun in its own right. You gotta remember that this game had a much smaller budget than kh2, so it wouldn't be fair expecting the same level of quality from both. Especialy when you realize this came out originaly on the PSP.
It was good given the limitations of the PSP. However, it did introduce the floatiness and went all in on bosses that had no stagger which made people spam Mine abilities or ranged abilities.
Its no wonder this is one of the more popular kingdom hearts games

Imagine you are raised as the son of a pastor. You are taught to respect your elders above anything, and that all your desires are to be controlled by them.

Sure he's a little scary looking, but you have too much respect for him by default for that to be a red flag. Honestly, once you learn Eraqus' past with Xehanort it makes zero sense as to why he would let Xehanort be around Terra especially, especially since he never warned Terra or anything. Eraqus was such a shit master/father figure... Hell EVERY Master in these games are shit. The fact that they let Sora, a literal CHILD, risk his life again and again should tell us a lot about how rubbish they all are.

Main characters are usually in their mid to late teens because that's the age group that most people can relate to. And their adventures always put them in danger - their parents and mentors should never allow it, but they do.
Even something as "child friendly" as Pokemon is ridiculous when you think about it: a 10-12 year old kid is allowed to travel the world by themselves while exploring areas with dangerous wild animals and coming into conflict with criminal organizations.

JUST To make your life easier - Here is a single "cheat code" for this whole entire game:
Block/Barrier + Curaga (level 4) OR Esuna = Heal Block/Barrier. It basically heals you when someone hits you while you've got your defense move up.
VERY useful in fights.

At least Terra’s mistakes stem from naivety, overly trusting and sincere nature, insecurities, and fears of being abandoned and a failure.
Aqua’s comes from pride and arrogance. Her one sided friendship is so shallow. luckily she seems to lose that aspect of her after being punished for being so. That said, it feels unfair that Terra is demonized for his mistakes but not Aqua. It’s the golden child scapegoat effect.
Also, don’t trust Just a Pancake, man said Xion was a bad character and literally dislikes every female character KH has. Except maybe Namine. He doesn’t seem to have an opinion on her.

That, mixed with her monotone voice makes her the worst "main" character in the series for me. How anyone can like her is beyond me. I figure a lot of KH fans are also anime fans and it just stems from that or the fact that she's a woman with boobs.
Plot could've played completely differently if she didn't sacrifice herself for Terranort. She basically chose her friends over the entire universe.

In the process of collecting gameplay clips of cool commands, shotlocks, attacks, and reactions DeeBee is in danger of never experiencing. Hopefully he grinds for the secret stuff so I can have the compilation ready before he moves on!
He's playing on Critical and always collects all of the reports so he will most definitely get all the secrets
(Talking about Braig) This is one of the harder bosses on Critical, especially because Terras guard is notoriously bad, according to the speedrunning community.
So glad I wasn't the only one who struggled on this boss. Even on Normal he was a pain.
Aqua has the best dodge and block without a doubt. She's the only one I'll play Proud on.

Terra’s gameplay shows the biggest faults of BBS’s ‘floaty’ combat. He does not have the movement tools to deal with bosses like Braig’s quick rapid fire attacks because his physical attacks are slow as molasses, and his block and dodge move are shit compared to Aqua and Ven. It is so frustrating to feel this limited in movement during combat because your attacks feel like they have no weight because you take FOREVER to return to the ground, resulting in frustration like what’s seen in this video. It’s what makes BBS and by extension Dream Drop Distance hated among the hardcore KH fanbase and speedrunning community
About the combat system of BBS the only problem, but not at the level of 3D, is how it falls into spam the same overpowered technique (thunder surge and maybe seeker mines with Aqua), because you can obtain that numerous times plus 2 or 3 curaga and you only need to spam and cure when you need it.
In 3D is the same but you use autoaim balloons.
Hmm yes the combat is bad because I only use the most op abilities instead of actually having fun and experimenting

Man, I'm loving this playthrough. It got me playing BBS all over again, at once rediscovering things for myself and being excited for DeeBee to have his mind blown by certain things or to get mega excited by others. Only thing I might recommend at this point is for him to mess around in the arena (with zero experience equipped if he doesn't want to get OP) as it's fairly good about prompting the use of different mechanics for various missions. Regardless of that, I can't wait to see more!

You don't have to read the reports, but you NEED to collect all 13 to unlock the 4th chapter. Each character gets to find some. One of Terra's is in the optional Mirage Arena as a prize.

With the benefit of hindsight, 39:53 is such an interesting interaction
Xehanort is a manipulative lying sack of doo doo! That was no accident! Ventus had very little darkness and refused to cooperate. He never succumbed to darkness. Xehanort just wanted to use Ventus for his own selfish ends. When Ventus's usefullness came to an end, Xehanort abandoned him on Destiny Island to die! It was only the intervention of Sora's newly born heart joining with Ventus that saved him. It was only after Ventus showed signs of life that Xehanort changed his mind and brought him to Eraqus. If you want know how Venitus ended up trapped in Ventus heart, play Union cross. All Xehanort did was to free Venitus from his imprisonment. Xehanort referred to Ventus in, Dream Drop Distance, "as the boy who refused to become the blade."
Onto the second episode, idk if you have learnt this yet but you have to look up how melding works, from using the crystals you get from certain chests/enemies you can gain special abilities and better commands. Example Max Level Cure+Max level cure is Cura, but you can use the crystals for abilities such as cure boost and such. Certain command melds can give you Second Chance, Once more, and many more things, so that you dont suffer like you did during the Dickbar fight. Search up the mending combinations, meld your commands, and you will suffer less. These are also very helpful ESPECIALLY on critical mode, so take the time to do so.
For your own good guy, do so. Take care.
Be sure to try melding commands and explore as well as you can.
You can get some absolutely nasty commands that basically turn you into a boss.
Disneytown and Neverland each got the best Command you can find in a box XD

They see the spoiler since you are receiving this part of kingdom hearts but The reason why Roxies can use to key blades because when he defeated she on he exhort some of her powers including her key blade allowing him to use two key blades instead of one.

Speaking of which, I'm sure Bernwolff will inform you when the time comes, but there is a report that is required for plot progression that's fairly out of your way to get. It's pretty bad design as the other reports are generally in your face or given to you, but it might be worth keeping an eye out for that. Not saying it's difficult to get, but that most people doing casual playthroughs and not completing everything could very easily miss it.
Hopefully you'll use Shotlocks as you play through the game. It's literally free damage.
Also I hope to see you play the command board thing. Personally I think it's a fun side game that also levels up your commands.
I think I’ve gotten addicted to those. I rely on them too much to get new commands and level up them real early in the game

You see the difference in your play style when you won… and it’s like your struggles with certain bosses in older games. When you take your time and let the boss go thru their motions and attack when you have an opening… it’s very easy. It’s not always mash x and triangle.

I love how much you appreciate these games and I’m looking forward to watching you play through the rest. Kingdom Hearts is one of my favorite games and it’s nice seeing you enjoy it too.
This is my 2nd favorite kingdom hearts or tied with first it's such a good game. Each character depending in your own skill and difficulty setting takes only about 8 hours each (if u skip all cutscenes ofc)
Just did them over the weekend and it was more like 4-5 hours each.
The Xigbar fight is SO HARD! When I did it all I could do was air slide and hope I don't get shot

Personally, I thought Braig was a pretty easy fight.
It’s weird seeing someone struggling against Braig. He’s one of the easier ones for me. I mean no offense and some people struggle with things others don’t. Once I realized you could reflect his shots he was pretty easy for me. It’s interesting seeing how different people struggle with different things.

@@ceraunah That’s true. It’s been a long time since I played Birth by Sleep, HD or otherwise so I don’t really remember the stress. I vaguely remember a learning curve from playing Critical on PSP way back though.
