Very informative video. Have been sharing with other bookkeepers and clients so that they can see what it does/doesn't do. Have a great rest of your week!
Yes, you can import data into QBL. @10:26 I show the gear menu which does have Import data as an option. I'll also be recording a video on creating a new Ledger account and importing data using SaasAnt.
P&L detail report is available Ledger. In any version of QB to get the P&L detail you go to the bottom of the P&L and click on the number for net income. Class tracking is not available in Ledger.
If it's one EIN I'd recommend QBO Plus for it's class/location tracking. If each property is its own EIN then you could use 8 separate Ledger subscriptions. They may also want to check out Xero, www.xero.com/, it's a cheaper alternative to QBO.
@@GentleFrog just created my first Ledger subscription for a single rental property partnership client, this seems to be something that can NOT be done, no tracking deposits by customer. That to me seems like a big missing functionality and probably the only critical thing I think that is missing from Ledger. Hopefully they can add that, without invoicing or sales receipts, but just the ability to add a customer to track deposits. I'd want to use this for rental properties most likely to track deposits by tenants, noting that I'd only use Ledger for sole property businesses, but sometimes they may have more than one tenant.
I tried inviting a client to become primary admin when first creating their account, but they are unable to? Is this a bug or something? I thought they could be the user and I could be the firm
Thank you for taking the time to do this video and walking us through the product! Have shared this with many fellow bookkeepers and clients.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you - this was very informative!
You're welcome! I'm glad you found it informative.

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I plan on doing some more videos on Ledger. Let me know if there's anything you'd like to see demonstrated with it.
Thank you for a very simple explanation, very informative
You're welcome! I'm glad you found it helpful.
Thanks for starting at the beginning, sometimes just to know where to begin is challenging
Absolutely! Especially when something's so brand new there's not a lot of information out there on it.
After you add a quickbooks ledger client are you able to import information like chart of accounts from a previous version of quickbooks?

Does Ledger interface with Square or is that a "sales channel"?
Square is a sales channel and does not interface with Ledger.
do i pay for another subscription to use the QB Ledger ? how do I make it and get to it?
You do pay for another subscription, you just pay for QB Ledger. You will need someone with a QB accountant account to setup Ledger for you.
So P&L Detail isn't a report option? Can the P&L be selected by class?
P&L detail report is available Ledger. In any version of QB to get the P&L detail you go to the bottom of the P&L and click on the number for net income.
Class tracking is not available in Ledger.
Hmm, I have a client who is being priced out by QB desktop, she has a rental business with around 8 properties, would this work out for her?
If it's one EIN I'd recommend QBO Plus for it's class/location tracking. If each property is its own EIN then you could use 8 separate Ledger subscriptions.

@@GentleFrog Thanks, do you know if you can enter a bank deposit with a customer name on QBO Ledger? OR will it only allow you to choose an account?
If you watch the video you'll see that there are no customers in QuickBooks Ledger.

You'll need to contact QBO support. It's a new product and things can change without notice.
