Wow, I personally love watching people craft things, and i particularly LOVE that you uploaded the entire process, at real speed. I also like the soft background music, it's not distracting or super loud like on a lot of other crafting videos. Definitely looking forward to watching more of your crafty videos!

+Yvonne Williams Have you ever used glow in the dark paints or nail polishes in any of your work? Or is that corny sounding? :P

Yes I watched her video, and I wouldn't attempt at making the eye, but I sure would use a dragon's eye or more as a focal point to make a bracelet or necklace.

I want to take a moment to say how much I admire your ability to share your process as it reveals itself to you. I have always been hung up on this part of the journey, preferring to show a finished project seems so much less personally risky. I have always been too uptight about getting it "right" so when I see others who are loose enough to be creative in front of the rest of us, I always feel amazed. I want what you have! The ability to just create without over-thinking! Thank you for sharing your journey, your candor, your talent, and humor. Great video! I'm inspired!

My pleasure Yvonne Williams! It means a great deal to me when an artist I admire takes the time to comment back! Thanks to you, I'm here at the table with my beads! Thank you for getting me back to the table! As I said, you're inspirational! Keep 'em coming! Everyone loves your brand of artsy fartsy! You're so down-to-earth and fun!

  • @spots_knight

You asked for the science behind the epoxy getting hot. It is actually called an 'exothermic reaction'. As the 2 chemicals mix, it breaks the bonds of the molecules and they create different molecules that are the hard resin. As the bonds are broken it gives off more energy (in the form of heat in the case of epoxy) than it takes to create the bonds of the new molecules. As more molecules split the more heat is given off. At the point that it is the hottest, most of the old molecules are split and the new molecules are starting to form and with epoxy the new molecules are a hard resin.

Ya know, as I've watched your videos with my bottom jaw resting comfortably on my chest, I've not had the conscious thought, but I agree, you do have a very pleasant voice.
Also, just a thought, have you ever used JB Weld, or plumber's putty? They adhere well to the metal surfaces and can add a sort of forged metal look if packed into the joints like caulking. They are both binary products, like the epoxy. Once cured they can be sanded or filed. The nice thing about the putty is it's consistency. You can actually shape and mold it. I'm betting your crafty noggin is already swimming through the possibilities. I love watching you work.

This is such an awesome tutorial! I taught myself to wire wrap for stress relief and it absolutely tickles me pink to hear you talk through the process the same way I do when I wrap. (Maybe I learned how to do it correctly then! lol) I really connect with dealing with the wire in your face and trying to figure out what to do with the wire ends. Thanks again for so many good videos and keep being creative!

i just turn wood nothing professional but people keep taking it home, no charge of course family friends etc.. but these eyes are something else, i will have a go at this, i have some big 5 or 6 inch lenses from an old optical thing that i will practice on they are huge but should be ok .i will send you pick when i do one.i was also thinking about the bottom of bottles that concave inward, after cutting with tile /glass cutter smoothing etc make awesome drinking glasses with the eye in the bottom.

This bracelet is an absolutely amazing work of art. I make jewelry, and this goes far beyond jewelry! I am in awe that you charged only $100 for this piece. If this was at a craft show in my area, I would expect it to sell for more than twice that much easily. The intricate detailing is something only a true artist can see as this piece is being crafted. Your wire crafting and jewelry making skill is on point.....but your artistic ability is truly amazing!

I just found your videos, and I’m totally addicted to watching them all!! I found them just in time for Christmas! My soon to be brother in law is a dungeon master for a dungeons and dragons campaign so I really wanted to do something that incorporated that. The answer was a dice box and a nice dice set. ... but I couldn’t find a dragon emblem or charm to add to the box. Here come your videos! Oh my goodness! Tomorrow he gets an amazing book that will hold pens and a notebook and all his dice. I have a glass dragons eye with wire wrapping via your tutorials as the center piece !!! My mother is in love with it! I wish I could send you a picture, but I have to say a great big THANK YOU!!

Really enjoying your vid and process. Ditto on everything Cianyx posted. I haven't made anything for quite some time and this vid is making me want to set up my studio again! :) One tip I used to do when wire wrapping, I used the round part of a crimping tool to "smoosh" down the ends of my wires, works really well. Thanks for sharing! New sub!

Chemical reactions can be delayed using different reactants (materials used to make the reaction happen) and in different proportions. The heat generated (exothermic) or absorbed (endothermic) is caused by different electrons being released, pulled, and/or ionized (heated so much that they are torn away from the atom). Chemical reactions can occur in many stages, and it heating up does not mean that the epoxy has hardened. If there are any actual chemists out there, please correct me if i am wrong!

I've dabbled in wire wrapping stones and my work looks like pre-school art compared. Oh darling, you should be so very proud of what you do and I hope you get paid at least $300 for that piece of art! You are the Rembrandt of wire work! Blessings to you and Keep teaching these tutorials. I guarantee maybe three people out of many thousands will come barely close to your art! Hugs and blessings!!!

I did not realize how long this video was until I completely watched it! How do 90 minutes seem so short? Also, did you have that henna tattoo done by someone else or did you do it yourself? It looks awesome. I would consider myself fairly good at working with henna, but I don't think I could do something like that just now. It would probably take a lot more practice.

    • @backtoearthcreations
      @backtoearthcreations  7 лет назад +2

Heya, Spawn! I did the henna on myself; I have a few time lapse videos up and more on the way of how I build my designs; I practice a lot of with chocolate frosting on sugar cookies; same consistency as henna and you can eat it or give it to friends at the end of the project :)

Commenting for my wife who is also a jewellery maker and all round craft wizard even delving into SFX makeup. Her channel is going to be back up shortly and is called 'beautifully broken.' She is dealing with very swollen hands right now which I hear is common for you guys working with wire. Anyway she says.
"Wow what a gorgeous piece. Very high fantasy with a steam punk element. I love it and would wear it all of the time! I love your attention to fine detail and the layers you always seem to incorporate into your pieces. Normally I'd hate a real time video but it was actually interesting just to see the work that goes into your stuff. I think a lot of people just don't realize the time and effort and often blood (when your working with sharp wire) that goes into what we do. Clients complaining about prices that do not realises sterling silver or even silver filled wires costs and semi precious stone beads cost and even working with cheaper materials the hours and hours of work that go into each piece mean they are getting a bargain. Most of us are working for less than minimum wage.
Anyway I just wanted to tell you I enjoy your work. Keep making beautiful art. BB"

20:00 It's a very easy reaction. The reaction that occures is an exothermic reaction, which means it will generate energy in the form of heat. But what you said wasn't right; not all reactions create heat, just exothermic ones. The endothermic reactions ectually need energy in order to work.
You can compare this with an explosion as the explosion creates a lot of energy in a short time, the only differencees are that this reaction takes a longer time to create energie and that this reaction creates less energy. The difference in the amount of time it takes and energy it creates makes it so that you don't get the 'explosion' effect.
And the fact that it creates glue... Well, it's just a reaction... I didn't expect that amonia and hydrochloric acids would make salmiak too, but it does... It's just how things roll.
The reason the normal glue got hard is that it got in contact with the oxigen, which became the biggest part of the inside of the bottle. Here the wet glue and oxigen reacted and became solid. At least, that is my hypothesis.
If someone knows the exact reason glue gets hard out on the open, please tell me!

The universe wants to be at its lowest possible energy level everywhere. The long-chain, flexible, liquid resin molecules are not there; so they can combine with oxygen when burned, for example, to create ash and CO2 gas which together have less internal energy, the rest goes into flame (light and heat). When you add the hardener to this resin, its molecules, also originally liquid and flexible, are specially formulated to have reactive points that, like oxygen in the air when burning the resin (though not as violent, of course!), chemically break themselves and the resin molecules apart and stick the pieces together in a hard, no longer liquid and no longer flexible lump, also releasing heat in the process, so they settle down to a final lower-energy brick-hard stable state. As mentioned above, some reactions need heat to make them occur, like heating up iron until it gets white-hot to allow it to change to another crystal type for making steel and cast iron using some added carbon, which will otherwise not combine with cold iron even if thoroughly mixed into it (carbon and iron would be like water and oil if not for these good -- for metallurgists and manufacturers -- effects when very hot).

Wow, I personally love watching people craft things, and i particularly LOVE that you uploaded the entire process, at real speed. I also like the soft background music, it's not distracting or super loud like on a lot of other crafting videos. Definitely looking forward to watching more of your crafty videos! Same for me that why I copy your comment hope you don't mind because its well said (Cianys)

I loved watching the video. I don't make jewelry and I don't need any more hobbies that I can't afford but I love the bracelet. Beautiful.
