  • This is how to convert a 12v cigarette lighter port to a dual USB port in a motorhome*
    This DIY install of USB ports was in our Fiat Ducato motorhome in the UK. All the parts can be bought cheap online from Amazon or similar.
    We have always struggled to keep a good connection with a 12v USB adaptor inside the cigarette holder so chose to replace it completely for this light-up dual USB socket.
    This is the style we chose which comes with wires an inline fuse: amzn.to/3TOoN9s
    This style of USB socket comes with inline fuse and digital voltmeter: amzn.to/3TFGsQY
    Finally this comes as a two pack with either blue, green or red light up LED fascia: amzn.to/3gAFEOZ
    Thanks,
    Daz & Bee :)

    This video felt more like pictures, not actual footage of doing it, just skipping everything on fast forward until nothing makes sense anymore

      Hi Alexander, youtube shorts are time limited, so I had to speed up the installation. Sorry, it's too fast for you. I'm sure there's the long version in our main videos, but if you search RUclips again, you'll probably find another long format installation. Good luck! 👍

      @@EscapeintheMotorhome I just want to pop the old one out without breaking it, I think a good idea is to be working on it while your talking if it’s a short and maybe just speed it up instead of fast forward. And this is not meant to be hate but constructive criticism feedback or whatever clearly people are complaining

      This is something you can do without experience but if you have absolutely no clue you should research from multiple videos in case someone does something wrong without realising it

      @@michaelmarquez6133 if you don’t want to break it and potentially you could crimp on some male spade terminals to push into that one then crimp on the female ones to go onto onto the charger but the issue was it could unplug

      Hi, I've just put into a video, a 'how-to' method I gained from another publisher and I was satisfied, but I state in no uncertain terms across our channel, that I'm no electrician. Anyone working on their van, does so at their own risk. Any doubts like yours, should be answered by your own research 😊 Thanks

      Hiya, it was so long ago I can't quite remember, sorry. I guess if it was screwed in, you would have solved it by now, so I'm guessing it was clips, perhaps on either side that need releasing. They might not be obvious. Hope you find the solution. 😊👍

      Hi, I stripped the end of the wires and crimped on new electrical spade connectors, which connected to the bottom of the new USB charger. I hope that helps 😊 Daz

    Why not just buy a car plug that has usb?

    • @EscapeintheMotorhome
      @EscapeintheMotorhome  Год назад +6

      Because the plug sticks right out and can easily get broken and knocked off. This is practically flush with the dash
