About this video
Nora and Marianna have been with Printful for few years now and over course of this time have had the pleasure to work with a lot inspiring and fascinating store owners. They go trough the don'ts and mistakes that are done frequently. Here's 10 mistakes that you are doing on your online store and how you can fix them.
One of them is optimising your store for mobile. Almost 40% of all eCommerce purchases during 2018 holiday season happened on a smartphone. This isn’t a trend that is going away, it’s just getting more and more popular. One good way to test if your site is mobile friendly is to check “Google mobile friendly test”. In this day and age storytelling is a big deal. You have to tell a story to be heard, because you have a lot of competition out there. A lot of Ecommerce stores going after your click. One great way to do it is trough “About us” page. That’s a way to build credibility and build connection with you audience. Be sure to add technical information as well as flavor text and don't forget to add key keywords for SEO purposes. Confusing product catalogue. Don't overwhelm customers with categories, but don't do too few as well. Be sure to have a clear structure for it. To gain credibility your store needs to have social proof. Remember that people will trust people more then brands. Easiest way to get social proof is to ask for your customers to leave a review for your store. A great tip to increase your pages visiting time is to use an exit intent pop-up. Have you tried it already? To have a professional looking online store make sure to keep it clean and to a minimum and double check all the links and social media icons. Best way to create your checkout flow is to have no distractions - the only Call To Action (CTA) you want there is "Purchase".
These and other great tips you'll find in this video! Be sure to take notes!

Printful Custom Printing at 9:16 you have spelled Poeple instead of People
Hi there, glad you were paying attention and spotted our small mistake. Thanks for letting us know about this. :)
Richard B I think they charge a lot for their POD service by specializing in production. They are not particularly a mock up business and there are excellent businesses out there like place it, that will blow your mind away. Check them out.
I just signed up with Printful. I'm an artist and a web designer. It seems like a lot of people are starting businesses with print-on-demand products. I'm a little bit baffled though. The cost per item to produce, ship and promote each one is incredibly high. Does this mean you have to sell yourself as a luxury brand or some kind of fantastic art designer worth paying 3 times more than an item you would typically find at the mall or department store?
The cost of customized production and shipping is incredibly high - may be even higher if you were to do it on your own. The key would be to (a) Build your brand and (b) select the right categories where you think you can get a higher ROI on your time and effort.
Thank you so much for the video. Points were valued and the hosts were pleasant.
Thank you so many great info and tips!
Thank you very much. This is the best and helpful tutorial I've ever seen
That was soooo helpful and great info! Thank you!

Thank you for the great information....
Hi there. I'm new to Printful and have already been watching loads of videos on running a store. Even though this highly relevant video is 3 years old, I want to mention you have a typo in the subtitles. POEPLE instead of People. Seeing that proper spelling is part of the 10 mistakes people make....
I love this video - very helpful as I set out to launch my store soon. Thank you so much for setting up e-commerce businesses up for success.
Thanks Ladies, good info 👍😎
Ladies....Thank You much... I made sure to right these down. Plan sharing with my dad...
Thanks for your tips.
Superb video; thank you guys
Great information thank you! One problem I've had with some of the items in my store is the sizing charts. For example, I added Men's joggers to my store. Some customers went to purchase them and got frustrated by the very difficult and confusing size chart. Men just want to know the waist and length size and not have to measure 5 things to determine their size. I hope that Printful looks into this we both lost many opportunities for business because of this issue.
Hey, thanks for your feedback! You can always create your own size charts in case the default ones do not work for your store. For more info, please send a message to support@printufl.com. 😊
Slain. Loved this video. Thank you. Slain. So well done, so helpful. Thanks.
Happy to help!
Awesome! Thanks so much...I'll aply these 10 tips right away :)
Very helpful. Thank you.
Thank you, Karen! 😊

Marianna... love your smile = ) And Nora too... awesome and true video... very valuable information... definitely worth watching. Have a great day!
Thankyou :) that's opened my eyes more. Shop revamp here I come lol........
great video!
Great information
thank you printful
Thanks for the video! I would really love to see some way when you load your image onto a shirt that you can see it fits in a box. Example if I was to make a shirt and place the design over the chest (pocket T location) its difficult to see if the sizing is right or placed in the right way. Some sortve grid would be great!
Hey Zac, thanks for the feedback! Placing you design in one fixed spot isn't easy as it can be shifted with a different sizing item. Our product generators use M size clothing but the actual outcome may look differently when, for example, a larger size item is ordered.
I would like a video like what I would receive if this was on my first week on the job at Printful and I was being training to use Printful site to do my job. All the ins and outs that are taught at a job. Understand Printful, about what works best for adding a design to a t-shirt, or canvas etc, the best position, getting it right. Tell us about the interact between Printful and our website, such as, if I want to change to price on my store, do I have to reload the product to my store. I think you could tell us heaps that we don't know that would be helpful to know from the start. Thank you. PS: this was a helpful video.
Hey, Jacinta! Thanks for your suggestion. We'd recommend checking out our Printful Academy lessons for more insight into the world of ecommerce and POD - www.printful.com/academy. Our Help Center and blog posts also cover all the info that you might need to start your own store and to understand how Printful works. 😊
I probably made some of these, already!
You can only learn by doing it, so don't be harsh on yourself. Everyone starts somewhere.
Thank you so much. Very informative and helpful. Question, about how much money should be invested into a first timer?
Hey, you may find this video useful: ruclips.net/video/O3srZ5O8Qf8/видео.html
Great Vid
It's Great Video, I am creating a new Apparel's store here in India. I love this video & learnt a few things within it. But I think 1 Point missing, in these days, woocommerce / shopify supports 360 degree gif / video of the product. That will enhance the site's credibility & give you more chance to show the detailing of the product.
Good luck with your apparel store!
Hi! Would love to do free shipping but Printful base prices are kinda expensive to do that haha.
Thank you this very helpful.
Could you please provide some marketing techniques to reach the audience?
Hi there, you can chek our blog for some tips & tricks. :)
www.printful.com/blog/
Thanks for the advice.
But setting up all of this requires a lot of work if you start on your own. In particular to animate social networks.
The principles remain excellent.
Sorry for my grammar, I'm French 😂.
Thanks again.
Pierre Benoit, this is the 4th day in a row where I had to tell someone to "Be Confident." You are expressing yourself as well as anyone else who speaks the English language. I admire you for being bi-lingual. I am working on learning Spanish. It is not an easy process. You are doing great!! Speak confidently!! I did not know you were French until you told me. I wish you well.
Tip for Printful: at 9:15 slide, "customers trust people vs brands" -- PEOPLE is misspelled, you wrote POEPLE. (This was a very helpful video and I took notes the whole time. Can't wait to start developing my store.
Good catch! Thanks, Jeanine! :)
Can’t offer free shipping from Printful to Etsy unfortunately. Prices seems a little high. What can I do?
great video girls
Really informative video, in the process of setting up my store so any tips on how to get it right are priceless. I would like to see a video on how to use the product template guides on illustrator. A video that doesn’t assume the watcher knows how to use illustrator. For example, after placing the template on the page, and creating a design, do you delete the template? How do you turn off the information on the template? Especially for leggings and swimwear. Thanks a lot
Hi there, glad you found this video useful and thank for the feedback! We're already working to add new and informative videos! You might also find this blog post useful:

Is there a recommended amount of products per design or variations on 1 design? I am building out t-shirts and other products using embroidery- is it too much to add color variations? The amount of choices becomes too many decisions at a certain point?
Hey Jason, we would suggest to keep variations to a minimum. Too many choices and it overwhelms the customer. The most popular colors are generally black, grey, white, but different color trends change with the season (like our prism/pastel colors are super popular right now). And the beauty with POD is that you can experiment with different variations to see which ones your customers like the best. Hope this helps!
Hi! I just wanted to inform you that your link for this video isn't working on your website for me. LOL (not a joke)Thanks for the solid info here. 🤓🧐😎 You two rock!
Yes, I wasn't able to play this video on the Printful site.
Thanks for letting us know! :)
Very useful, very helpful. You spelled "people" wrong at 9:15. Just a heads-up.
Hey, thanks for letting us know! We appreciate your support 😊
Thanks, that was helpful. Do you have more on the incentive for buyers to leave a review or be prepared to model an item e.g. a T-shirt?
Also where would you share about the incentive?
Thanks for your great videos.
What would get you to leave a review for a product you bought?
Many times, being honest is all it takes - "Hey, this is a new store/product, would you mind sharing your thoughts?"
@@ryonlyon thanks. Where would you ask that? Would you put it in the thank you note for the purchase
@@ShoshanahShear @@ShoshanahShear I'd send an email within 1-2 weeks to check in and see how they liked the product. That should be priority because you really do want to get their feedback. If it sounds good, ask if they would submit a review or if it'd be okay if you sent a review request in the next few days.
@@ryonlyon thank you.thats very helpful
Great tips, Ryan! Thanks! :)
Popups on exiting piss me off when I'm just browsing
Very helpful :) Also, were you about to say: "you don't want Homer's webpage" at 13:00?
Hey, not really. :)
What's the best place to get mockups that are attractive and have the background accessories etc? Like with glasses/shoes/
Noe Castellon creative market
Hey Noe, you can check our lifestyle mockups that you can generate with our mockup generator - www.printful.com/mockup-generator
And you can also check placeit.net/
Is a size- guide provided by printful so we can help customers find what they need? Is it legal to incentivise someone to leave a [positive] review?
Hey! All of our products come with sizing info and/or size guides. You can encourage people to leave positive reviews, but it would be best if it wasn't forced and if these reviews would still be genuine. It would be advised to consult a professional to find out what is and isn't legal in your country.
No upsell in checkout page 😊🙄
Hi Ladies. I just started selling on Etsy and connected Printful about two weeks ago. I have seen less than 10 clicks on my clothing and posted 17 items so far. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong? If you want, I'll share my link but not unless you ask. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
Hey there! You should check out our blog! There's a lot of information on how to get traffic :)
Prntful is a great concept, but the quality of work is poor, I wouldn’t sell t-shirts printed from Printful at a flea market.
K.C., sorry to hear that. If you've received a faulty order, please don't hesitate to reach out to our CS team via support@printful.com, so we can look into that.
You misspelled "people" at 9:16 Just a heads up.
Yes, thanks! :)
Lovely tips ladies 🌻, you both are very cute )). Question: is it a good idea to combine a few different niches on one website, to have 1 store or is it better to separate them? I have a wellness-related business and also a dance company (which has been on hold since 2019, I used to teach tango and run events, as well as make jewelry). Now I am researching on POD and say if my focus would be a few topics like dance, sustainability, creativity, humor, esoterica (astrology, crystal healing etc). Is it a good idea to combine them in one store? I am biased about that as on the one hand it would be simpler to have it in one place (e.g.thought of doing POD under within my dance company) and on the other hand I wonder how it would be for SEO and brand building? I have 3 instagram accounts where I could post related designs.
My concern is probably how would it look if being a counselor, therapist and astrologer I would start actively offering merch 🤔. It is kind of different roles and yet not very common.
Thanks for your question! However, it's entirely up to you, we won't be able to advise on the best route here. Several niches combined in one store might work for some store owners, but might not work for others.
If I can offer my input as a digital marketeer, you best keep those niches completely separate! They don't seem aligned enough to make it work on the same website and it will confuse customers and hurt your conversion-rate. If it helps at all, you can make several stores in 1 and the same printful account, so from there on out it wouldn't be completely separate, but on the customer side you'd need 3 different stores to have better results.
What to tell about page if it is a new business and if there is no specific story? Please advise something to write in the about page for new print on demand store?
You can find some great tips on how to write the "about us" page over here 👉 www.printful.com/blog/how-to-write-an-about-us-page/ 😊
@@PrintfulCustomPrinting Thanks, I'll go through this and will check how other's written on their pages.
Where can I find a printful size chart and how can I add a printful size chart to my store.
Hi there, you can find our size guides on each product page. :)
With some integrations you can automatically add them to your store (by checking the checkbox when doing the product push) but for other you'd have to manually add them.
i am a newbie but need some help with my store to tell me whats missing and how to correct it,shyrel Adore store
Hey, Shyrell, if you need some help with your store, feel free to reach out to our customer support agents :) They can be contacted by sending an email to support@printful.com.
That popups when I want to leave are most annoying and I’m not going back to page with this kind of shit.
Printful: Great grammar and spelling proves your store's legitimacy
Also Printful: 9:12
haha i kid. love you guys thanks for the useful info!
Yes, that's a small mistake on our side. :) Thanks!
11:56 Best of her.
Hello Nora and Mariana, are you both Bulgarians ?
No, they are both Latvians :)
Giggle. @9:14 in, they spell "poeple" instead of "people". Helpful video though, thanks Printful xox
Hey Jennifer, thank you very much for noticing and letting us know! We've shared this with our Video Marketing team.
You spelt People wrong at 9.16!
Nice catch, Rob! We see you were paying attention! Thanks for pointing out about this! :)
Great video, but I have a question for you. If I add a Printful Store to my new Woocommerce, can I still sell my own products as well as Printful's products? I haven't been able to find an answer to this question to this and I would really appreciate your help. Thank you!
Hey Kelly, yes, you can sell other products along the Printul ones. We'll only fulfill our products. Just make sure to set up your shipping rates accordingly. :)
👀👂🏿
Great! Note “people” not “poeple”.
9:13 typo on people 🤣
Hey Uli, yes, we made a small typo there. Thanks for noticing that. :)
