    It looks beautiful. How would you open that up if you have to replace the ducting? I just had a range hood installed to replace a microwave vent unit but I sense some air escaping so I want to check the ducting which is hidden behind a wooden box like yours.

    have the same issue, even a bit worse..trust is not 3" but almost 8" away from wall and I can not use this channel to pass the duct. So ducting comes out in fron of the cabinet and i am looking for a way to cover it...if you have idea, please share. Thanks

      the hard part is making things look nice. I would cover things as best as you can, paint it up and see how much it stands out. Cheers!
