Good video....your prices seem high when describing good life. I recently lived in Thailand.. koh samui. I was happy and my monthly costs including rent were around £ 800 per month....just over $1000
Considering living in Chiang Mai but visited in March this year during the burning season which I had`nt realised was occurring during my visit and had to leave after 5 days as the air quality was so bad .
@@Michael-l3q6s They'd save money and time if they would just stay home. You can get drunk and stupid anywhere. Why go halfway around the world to something right at home.
This is for a couple if I understand correctly right? What about a 65 years old retiree with a monthly budget of $1200 usd? Can I pull it off with this ca$h.
Sorry but you have missed a big point - Taxation. Thailand is not the place to retire anymore. Great to live and work there like you and others in same business, but not for retirees. Starting 1 Jan 2024 Thailand now taxes the income of retired Expats (including Pensions), while all the other countries in SEAsia do not. Hopefully Thailand will change their mind, but as it is starting on Jan 2025 Expats have been told to pay income taxes on the money they brought to Thailand from Jan 2024 onwards. Thailand also wants to implement worldwide taxation, so even if you dont remit the money to Thailand they want to tax it. No matter how good their Visas are - for retired Expats Thailand is not the best option (we are leaving).
@@HomeBaseHB However, Spain has a top tax bracket of 46% and an annual wealth tax up to 2.8% on all worldwide holdings in cash, property and anything similar in value.
I was just there, 95 Fahrenheit several days in a row in May. It’s a good town tho, just climate wise it may be more moderate than southern Thailand But you’re also land locked, and still relatively warm.
Her rosy view of Thailands preferred areas are very misleading. $2000 a month including rent would be nearly impossible for 1 person let alone 2. Health care is easily accessible but can be very expensive. Phuket on $2200.00 a month is very difficult I would say impossible. The average daytime temp in Phuket is 85 - 92 degrees. Not 70 degrees. Hua Hin is no longer a small town but exploding in development and tourism The beaches in Hua Hin are filthy. Chiang Mai is much cooler than the rest of Thailand and a little lower in cost. The periodic pollution is a severe problem
"The average temperature in Phuket during the dry season is in the mid-70s" and there is always a gentle ocean breeze. I just left Phuket after living there for almost two years, and this claim is patently rediculous!

For a channel with 'International' in its name, its puzzling, and frustrating, that you would list temperatures in only Ferenheight, especially since America is the only country on the planet that uses that illogical system. Not very 'International' to not include celcius... 🤦♂️🙄

Phuket for snorkeling, Chaing Mai for night markets. I don't know if Bangkok is still terribly polluted like it was in early 2000s.
How could you shine such light on Chiang Mai without at least mentioning the smoggy months??? Have you ever been to any of these places?
My thoughts exactly. Lost respect for this channel. Tells me they're not exactly informed themselves.

Thank you for the video. One thing that you didn't mention was the safety. I'm doing research on retiring overseas and my top priority is safety.
Depends on you and your abilities, no one is going to hold your hand to lead you thru life.

Mexico 6 mos. at a time, drive out, come back, etc.
Yes absolutely, just not so much in the big tourist hot spots. Any of the quieter more relaxed areas you would still live nicely
Yeah, but very spartan living.
Not a chance. Especially if you like to enjoy any entertainment.
