I get into discussions with Catholics a lot on X, and they inevitably, to a man, will eventually say that Scripture is not enough, that we “MUST” take church history into account. When it reaches that point, we no longer have a common foundation in the Word. They will agree with II Timothy 3:16, that the Word of God is inspired, or God-breathed. But then they tend to ignore verse 17, that states the man of God will be complete, THOROUGHLY equipped for every good work. When I say that the Word of God is sufficient for ALL doctrine and nothing should be added to it, that’s when they vigorously disagree. They can’t see that the RCC not only adds to Scripture, but their doctrines and traditions contradict it! Thank you for this video, and especially for the Bible verses to use. God bless!

I try very hard to follow the Catholic teachings & tradition but I always felt emptiness spirituality after mass was over. Then a Christian Missionary from Mexico came to visit his family, my neighbor in Texas , they invited me to a cookout. After the meal, he asks me if I have put my faith & trust in Jesus Christ as my Savior!? I said, No, how do I go about it? He turned to John 3:16 & Romans 5:8, where it says that God love me that he gave his only begotten Son Jesus Christ. I got convicted as a sinner, then surrendered my life totally to Jesus for Salvation!!

Thanks for this wonderful and insightful teaching, Lots of God’s blessings,,,I posted my testimony in my RUclips why I left the Catholic Church after being a Catholic nun for 13 years. When Fish Catch the Fisherman
      A. W. Tozer
History shows clearly enough that true spirituality has never at any time been the possession of the masses. In any given period since the fall of the human race, only a few persons ever discerned the right way or walked in God's law.
God's truth has never been popular. Wherever Christianity becomes popular, it is not on its way to die--it has already died. Popular Judaism slew the prophets and crucified Christ. Popular Christianity killed the Reformers, jailed the Quakers and drove John Wesley into the streets. When it comes to religion, the crowds are always wrong. At any time there are a few who see, and the rest are blinded. To stand by the truth of God against the current religious vogue is always unpopular and may be downright dangerous. The historic church, while she was a hated minority group, had a moral power that made her terrible to evil and invincible before her foes. When the Roman masses, without change of heart, were made Christian by baptism, Christianity gained popularity and lost her spiritual glow. From there she went on to adopt the ways of Rome and to follow her pagan religions. The fish caught the fisherman, and what started out to be the conversion of Rome became finally the conversion of the church. From that ignominious captivity, the church has never been fully delivered.

Great discussion! I've read a book by James G. McCarthy called "The Gospel According to Rome" published in 1995. Purchased through The Berean Call (Dave Hunt & T. A. McMahon, who was raised in the Roman Catholicism).
Roman Catholicism kept me away from hearing and listening to the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our family was Jewish and Roman Catholics would call us "Christ killers" for many years. I was witnessed to by a born again Gentile (she was a member of a Presbyterian Church). She had studied all about Judaism and why the Jews reject Christ. She said RCs were not Christians, which was a shock to me. I identified Roman Catholicism as Christianity. Praise God, He brought me out of Judaism (not my ethnicity as a Jew) and I was born again in March, 1974.

I was raised Roman Catholic. When I read the Bible and listened to Bible based teachings. I was amazed to learn from the Bible that Mary was to be honored as a faithful servant to the Lord Jesus Christ, and not worshiped as the mother of God which is not true. She was the earthly mother of God, not to be worshiped. There is only one God the Father, and I was shocked to learn that I need no earthly man to ask for forgiveness of my sins, just the Savior of the world who takes away all the sins of the world. The list goes on. I now know Jesus, and I have a deep loving relationship with God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
Thank you for having the courage to post this. I pray it be in truth and a deep love as Christ has shown us, led by the Holy Spirit. Amen

Look at the works of the Lutheran theologian Dr. Jordan B Cooper. Luther wrote about the admiration of the eucharist which Reformed Baptists say is a "false gospel". Titus 2:11-12
      11. For The Grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men.
      12. Teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously and Godly in this present world.
Constantine brought paganism and Christianity together causing the great falling away.
In the Bible God forbids us to eat human flesh and to drink blood. THIS IS A SATANIC RITUAL.
In the Bible God says to call no man father and do not do repetitious praying like the heathens do.
In the Bible God says He is the only one who can forgive sins through His Son Jesus. There is no other way.
Jesus is the truth, the way and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through Him alone.
Who do you think Jesus was talking about in Revelation 17:4-5
The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication.
And on her forehead was a name written MYSTERY BABYLON THE GREAT. THE MOTHER OF HARLETS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
The catholic church is full of idols. They deleted God's 2nd Commandment 'Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image or any likeness that's in heaven, on or under the earth, in or under the sea. Thou shalt not worship them or bow down to them' and they halved the last commandment to make up ten.
There is an obelisk outside the vatican which represents Nimrod, sungod worship. Mary represents semi-ramas symbolised by a crescent moon and baby Tammuz is camouflaged by baby Jesus in Semi-ramas arm's.
      There is your MYSTERY BABYLON.
I love the Catholic people and so saddened that 1.3billion are being deceived.
I know Jesus loves them because He says in the Bible 'COME OUT OF HER MY PEOPLE AND DO NOT PARTAKE IN HER SINS AND RECEIVE NOT OF HER PLAGUES'
Jesus said THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE.
It is BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH WE ARE SAVED AND NOT OF OURSELVES.
We need to humble ourselves, repent of sins, accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour and believe He died on the cross for our sins, was buried, arose from the dead on the 3rd day, ascended into heaven and sits on the right hand of God.
We need to be born again in The Holy Spirit and we become a new person. The Holy Spirit, dwelling in us gives us comfort, peace, joy, encouragement and helps us to overcome sin and guides us in good works but not of ourselves.
Jesus wants us to have a personal relationship with Him. Pray and walk close to Him.
We cannot work our way into heaven. Jesus says our works are like filthy rags. He paid for our sins on the cross. Before He died He said 'IT IS FINISHED' and the curtain separating the sacrificial alter was ripped from top to bottom.
Jesus was the sinless sacrificial lamb that took on the sins of the world.
It is by GRACE ALONE THROUGH FAITH WE ARE SAVED AND NOT OF OURSELVES.
The true church of Christ consists of those who have been born again in The Holy Spirit, have become a new person in Christ and follow Him. His bride. His New Jerusalem.

I am a former Catholic. Raised in Catholicism for 20 years till I was rejected by Catholic Church becuz of being previously married. They wanted me to answer a very personal questionnaire in order to get an annulment and I refused so they excommunicated me. My future husband and I went to a baptist church and all the minister asked me was do I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and that He died for my sins. I said YES of course and immediately the Holy Spirit came thru me and I started crying uncontrollably! I didn’t know why. I didn’t know anything about being born again! Some facts about Mary to tell your Catholic friends.
Mary was so important the apostles when writing the New Testament that she was only mentioned once after the Gospels, Acts 1:14. Jesus was mentioned 335 times by name after the Gospels.
Mary was only mentioned once in the Bible in a context where she may not have been present. Every other place in the Bible she was directly present and her actions were recorded. Jesus however is constantly talked about in a transcendent manner when he is not around. Here's that verse.
    Luke 11:27-28 -
"As he said these things, a woman in the crowd raised her voice and said to him, “Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts at which you nursed!” But he said, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”

That’s what I always thought too when I talked to Catholic friends-Mary is hardly mentioned in the Bible so why is she elevated to such a high place??

    • @LaMammaDiElvis
      @LaMammaDiElvis 3 года назад +6

Exactly...when I started to read the Bible, I thought...where on earth is Mary? So, I did a search to see where her name appears in the Bible only to find that she is, in fact, hardly mentioned. The Catholic system took the few times that Mary was mentioned and turned her into a deity, giving her almost all the same attributes of our Lord. From being born without sin right to ascending to heaven. And giving her the most blasphemous titles of Mediatrix and Co-redeemer.
When I approach my Catholic relatives and friends with the realities of Mary, they always respond with "we don't worship Mary, that would be blasphemous, we venerate her"; we only worship Jesus. It means the same thing. A synonym for venerate is worship.
It doesn't matter which scripture passage I've shown Catholics, such as Luke 11:7-28 which should, once and for all, put the whole Mary worship to rest, but it doesn't. Their response is: "It simply means that Mary is blessed not only for bearing the flesh of Christ, but most of all because she heard the word of God and obeyed it." So when Jesus says "those" he really only means one person...Mary...more lies. The "Mary" that they worship is, in actuality, a demon or demons. Mary is in heaven with our Lord, she does not hear prayers, she does not answer prayers, she does not sit at the right hand of Jesus...all lies. I pray daily for Catholics as well as all unbelievers. John MacArthur has a great 4-Part Video Series on RUclips on "Mary". It's great.

      Thanks for your reply.
You're right, Catholic teachings breaks down once you begin to have a real relationship with the Bible.
My favorite method of dealing with Catholics about Mary is a two-step process.
      Step 1.
I ask them a question. If you don't worship Mary then what is it that she does for you, why is Mary important?
They respond with the false doctrine that we need we pray to Mary for grace and help in our times of need.
Catholics are taught that Jesus is too holy to approach. So they must go to his merciful mother instead.
      Step 2.
Then I simply follow up with Hebrews chapter 4. God told us to go to his throne for grace in times of need. Some of the truly brainwashed Catholics will then claim that Mary is Jesus's throne.
Hebrews 4:14-16 ESV - "Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need."
Mary called the baby in her womb "my savior" in Luke chapter 1. Mary said that she needed a savior. She wasn't sinless.

If the gospel you follow has discrepancies with the True Gospel of Christ, then you need to throw out your experiences and seek out the actual gospel. The Catholic church does not have the true gospel. I grew up in the Catholic church, but as I studied God's Word and came to know who God is, He led me out of that heretical church and into a sound Bible-believing group of followers that could disciple me and walk along side me as I came to know the real gospel.

@@TruthHasSpokenPlease get The New King James Bible and compare the Word of God in comparison to what the Catholic Church teaches. They don't encourage you to read God's Word and there is a reason for that. They want you to believe what they teach, instead of what He (God and Jesus) teach. Mary for instance does not hear your prayers. Yes she is the Mother who God chose to bring His Son into the World, but did you know that the book of James was written by Jesus half brother? Jesus had other half brother's and sisters. Most Catholics think she stayed a virgin. There are many other things too and I promise you if you go buy a Bible and you ask God through Jesus and Holy Spirit to open up the Truth to you, He definitely will. There are so many differences that I haven't got enough room to list them all. I speak the truth and have known many Catholics in my life and one was a very close friend, that took me nearly a year through the Word of God, praying with her and such faith that God gave her to believe this truth and became Born Again. Now has Dementia and doesn't know me anymore, but I know I'll see her in Heaven one day. Much love in Christ Jesus my friend.

@@lorimacduff1180 "Please get The New King James Bible"
I prefer a bible with ALL the books of the Old Testament in it. Even the King James of 1611, the ORIGINAL King James had all 46 books of the Old Testament. Who had the authority to later remove them?
"and compare the Word of God in comparison to what the Catholic Church teaches"
Translated: adhere to the fallible interpretation of the Church of Gendron? Mike disagrees repeatedly on interpret scripture with other protestants.
"They don't encourage you to read God's Word"
Hmm. I've been a Catholic all my life. I've heard and read the Church teach just the opposite. Who has told you that? You need to read the Catechism to know what the Church teaches - and not be duped by anti-Catholic rhetoric. From the catchism:
_In Sacred Scripture, the Church constantly finds her nourishment and her strength, for she welcomes it not as a human word, "but as what it really is, the word of God". "In the sacred books, the Father who is in heaven comes lovingly to meet his children, and talks with them." ... The Church "forcefully and specifically exhorts all the Christian faithful. . . to learn the surpassing knowledge of Jesus Christ, by frequent reading of the divine Scriptures. Ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ._
Note, when you open your bible to the table of contents, you tacitly defer to the authority of the Catholic Church to even know what books belong in the New Testament. You use the very same 27 writings, no more, no less, out of 300+ early Christian writings as decided as New Testament scripture by the 4th c Catholic Church, bishops meeting in Rome and in Northern Africa. None of them knew of a "protestant" or the novel beliefs, not found in scripture or taught by the apostles some 1100 years later.
"They want you to believe what they teach, instead of what He (God and Jesus) teach."
Doesn't the Church of Gendron do the very same to you? Example: Can you cite ANYONE ANYWHERE in the world for the first 1000+ years who taught the interpretations of scripture below? JUST ONE PERSON FOR EACH??? You can't because they are all man-made inventions, not found anywhere in scripture:
      - salvation by faith alone
      - sola scriptura
      - symbolic only Lord's Supper
      - symbolic only baptism
      - baptism delayed to the age of reason
      - rejection of intercessory prayer
      - Once saved, always saved
"Jesus had other half brother's and sisters"
Very Catholic. Though his half brothers and sisters came from Joseph, not Mary.
      "I speak the truth"
You speak of the fallible interpretation of Lori, likely very similar to the fallible Church of Gendron.

      @@lorimacduff1180 "became Born Again."
One is BORN AGAIN scripturally through Baptism. More below on this Sacrament:
The Old Testament Prefigures a greater New Testament reality: The Waters of Baptism are Salvific.
      - Noah and his family were saved by the water and cleansed humanity of sin, the Ark representing the Church.
      - The Israelites were saved by water from Pharaoh’s army crossing the sea
      - The Israelites were again saved by water when Moses struck the Rock
God foretells his Spirit would someday reside not in Jerusalem’s temple built by man but within mankind himself:
_25 I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. 26 A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you; and I will take out of your flesh the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to observe my ordinances (Ez 36)._
St John the Baptist says that Jesus would come baptizing with the Holy Spirit:
_“I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry; he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire_ (Mat 3:11).
_I myself did not know him; but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit’_ (Jn 1:33).
St Paul speaks to the New Testament fulfillment, through Baptism, our body being the temple of God’s Spirit.
_Do you not know that your body is the temple of the holy spirit within you, which you have from God (1 Cor 6:19)?_
We receive the Holy Spirit through baptism, the external washing by water signifying (a sign, a symbol, but not a sign or symbol only) of an interior spiritual change within us.
Born Anew (Again) - through baptism, we are “born again” scripturally
_3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4 Nicode′mus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit [baptism], he cannot enter the kingdom of God (Jn 3: 3,5)._
Regenerated and Justified - All Sacraments are means of receiving his Grace (we are saved by Grace)
_when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of deeds done by us in righteousness, but in virtue of his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal in the Holy Spirit, 6 which he poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that we might be justified by his grace and become heirs in hope of eternal life (Titus 3: 4-7)._
Sanctified - the exterior sign of water signifies the interior spiritual change through baptism.
_11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God (1 Cor 6: 11)._
Baptism Restores Sanctifying Grace and Cleanses Us of ALL Personal Sins
_And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on his name (Acts 22: 16).”_
Baptism Saves Us - by having the Spirit of God in us; God can’t be any more explicit
      - _“Truly, truly, unless one is born of water and the Spirit [baptism], he cannot enter the kingdom of God (Jn 3: 5).”_
      - _Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a clear conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ (1 Pet 3: 21)._
      - _He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned_ (Mk 16: 16; believing / having faith means to follow all that Christ commanded. He commanded that Christians be baptized as a means of receiving his grace)
Note, I can cite Christian men for this whole time period who taught exactly what scripture teaches. Examples below.
“Moreover, the things proceeding from the waters were blessed by God, that this also might be a sign of men’s being destined to receive repentance and remission of sins, through the water and laver of regeneration,-as many as come to the truth, and are born again, and receive blessing from God.” Theopilus of Antioch, To Autolycus, 2:16 (A.D. 181).
Worth repeating: How is does one receive repentance and remission of sins .... through the water and spirit (the laver or regeneration). BAPTISM.
“[W]hen they come to us and to the Church which is one, ought to be baptized, for the reason that it is a small matter to ‘lay hands on them that they may receive the Holy Ghost,’ unless they receive also the baptism of the Church. For then finally can they be fully sanctified, and be the sons of God, if they be born of each sacrament; since it is written, ‘Except a man be born again of water, and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.’…[O]nly baptism of the holy Church, by divine regeneration, for the kingdom of God, may be born of both sacraments, because it is written, ‘Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.'” Cyprian, To Stephen, 71:72 (A.D. 253).
“We are circumcised not with a fleshly circumcision but with the circumcision of Christ, that is, we are born again into a new man; for, being buried with Him in His baptism, we must die to the old man, because the regeneration of baptism has the force of resurrection.” Hilary of Poitiers, Trinity, 9:9 (A.D. 359).
“This then is what it is to be born again of water and of the Spirit, the being made dead being effected in the water, while our life is wrought in us through the Spirit. In three immersions, then, and with three invocations, the great mystery of baptism is performed, to the end that the type of death may be fully figured, and that by the tradition of the divine knowledge the baptized may have their souls enlightened. It follows that if there is any grace in the water, it is not of the nature of the water, but of the presence of the Spirit.” Basil, On the Spirit, 15:35 (A.D. 375).
*Where are all those early Christians preaching the fallible Church of Gendron?*

I was shocked at the lies and deception that veiled my eyes from being born again, and placing my faith in Jesus Christ, as my Lord and Savior. I think one simple bold example of the wickedness of the Catholic Church is Pope Francis declaration that there are many paths to the same god. When we know that Jesus is the only name given, whereby men must be saved, he is the way the truth and the life, the savior of the world. He is our high priest in our intercessor alone between man and God. Praying to Mary is blasphemous. God bless.

I am a cradle catholic. The catholic church is the only church that follows "John 6.22-59, The Bread of Life Discourse" faithfully. We do believe in the true physical and spiritual presence of GOD in the consecrated bread and wine during the Holy Mass or Eucharist. We do attend church to adore GOD, physically and spiritually present there in the tabernacle. Years ago I asked GOD how I could be certain that HE was present in the Eucharist or the consecrated bread and wine. HIS answer was: "Because I said so". God bless us all. Amen.

Its a shame, because Mike Gendron says many blatantly heretical things. He refuses to call Mary the Mother of God, which the Third Ecumenical Council *clearly* defined in order to combat the heresy of Nestorianism, the teaching that Jesus and the Son of God/Logos were two separate persons. Because Jesus is *fully* God and Man, he is God. Because Mary gave birth to Jesus, she gave birth to God. Not God in His Divine Essence, but in the flesh. To deny that Mary gave birth to God is to deny that Jesus is God.

I was born and baptised into a catholic family. I left aged 16 being forced to go to church with my mother till that age. I asked the local priest a few questions and I had 2 responses from him that shocked me and made me very upset that I’ve struggled my whole life since. He said unless I wanted to become a nun it wasn’t any of my business to be asking any kind of questions about God or Jesus, and the other was who did I think I was just wanting to question him when he wasn’t even on duty. And basically told to run along. I’m now just turned 50 and I constantly question everything, I’m very scared to die as I don’t want to go to hell forever. I’ve asked for forgiveness many many times but I feel bad as I feel like my heart is a block of ice and I want to keep the love in my heart for Jesus but I feel guilty for not accepting his forgiveness and I keep messing up. I have just watched this video and it has came at a perfect time. I’ve never been able to broach the subject with my mam about Jesus as I’ve never knew what to say. Especially with not knowing where I am at myself. Im such a hypocrite I need help and don’t know what to do or say even where to go my self. I desperately want to read my Bible so much and to understand it and be able to give the good news to others. I’m sorry I’m rambling but the Catholic Church really makes me cringe. I thank you Justin for your ministry and all you do. God Bless you

Romans 10:9-10 says: "If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved."
I don't think that questioning everything is a sin.
Ephesians 1:13-14 says: "When you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own[d] by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him."
In Matthew 5:4, Jesus says: "God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted." This isn't talking about sadness, but about mourning our fallen state before God.
If you don't might me asking, what were the questions that the priest found so offensive?

I knew people that had different religions and were constantly telling me as a Catholic I was following a cult and it scared me to death. Also the second question I wanted to know was what happens when you die? Some said conflicting answers and a being brought up and at 16 wanting to know the truth to follow God correctly these were what I asked my local parish priest. I know he was furious with me and then that’s when he said I didn’t need to know that stuff I just had to go to church every Sunday and follow them and forget all the other nonsense I’ve been told. This has made me insecure and dread “Religion”. Incase it was the wrong one and I offended God. This is what I’ve struggled with the rest of my life.

@@craftingmamaberne3776 It seems to me like you viewed God as a distant tyrant rather than a perfect loving father, a bleeding saviour and a close and comforting holy spirit living within you. It also seems to me that you might have viewed God as untrustworthy, rather than strong, loving and trustworthy. The Bible says that God is slow to anger and abounding in love. It seems the priest might also have had a warped view of God to find those questions threatening. God is big enough and strong enough to handle any doubts we might have about him.
Jesus said: I am the truth. No one comes to the father (God) except through me. I think the first part is awesome. If you're searching for truth, it leads to one place. The problems start when people stop searching for truth.
God is many different names in the Bible. It is more important who he is rather than what he is called.
People have different opinions on what happens after we die. The important thing is to accept Jesus as your saviour and follow him. If you do that, the Bible says that nothing can separate us from the love of God. So no matter what happens after we die, we are not separated from the love of God.

To even imagine being able to have such a close and loving relationship with God is truly amazing and knowing that he loves us and only wants the best for us. I need to get myself out of this funk I’m always in and believe there is no catch or conditions only that I trust in him and have faith. Again I thank you. God Bless you
