Hi Mate Great Video as always Don’t forget to save some time as I have 10 off those Figaros coming down to you this week Rebore,Crank Grind or Polish and Cylinder Heads I will send the parts as the customer has paid me he will sort the machining bill with you. He loved the first engine you did keep up the good work as he got another 15 in late November Simon Nevlock Engine Components
i thought oselli had finished. A friend of mine had a 1098 A series off of them back in the late 60s for his morris minor he used to rally it went very well. Looking at that B series race engine with the block all ground out on the inside brings back memories used to do that to my engines to stop cracks starting and to help oil return to sump quicker never new if it made any difference though.
I'm hoping to start building a Hot hatch for The Combe championship towards the end of the year.I done a few rounds of The saloon car championship in a 205 back in 2001!!.. Been a mechanic for 35 years and as a kid we had a family garage joined to a machine shop, from a very young age i used to love watching that big old orange crank grinding machine, head skimming etc, loved it. I'll have to pop down and see you when i want the balancing, any machining done. Love the way you explain everything to cater for all levels of knowledge, gradually working my way through your videos. Best thing ive found on youtube in a long time, only up the road near Lambourn ..Keep up the good work guys!
Nice work James. The line bores and line hones can be challenging to say the least. Especially after someone before messed it up.. Nice work on the crankshaft grinding and balancing. Thanks for sharing. 👍 Have a good week. 👍 💯👍
Great video James. Always interested in work on "B" Series engines (from when I had my MGA 1600). You sure had a few challenges with these. Keep up the good work. I really enjoy your videos. Cheers, Peter.
I'm surprised that Oselli don't do their own machining. Didn't they used to back in the day? Fascinating episode though James, what with the cracks, wrong mains, sticky cam bearings. You've got a hell of a lot of work in - is it just you and Sam doing it all?
They still do some work. A good client of my garage needed a rebuilt unit for his MGB. We couldn't get anywhere near Oselli on price. They did their 1860 cc, balanced, mild cam and a cleaned up and light polish of the ports. Already had the usual K&N'S, LCB and two box exhaust. Really nice unit for the road, no matter how much money you could have thrown at it. Avoid the 1900's no need for a road car, it's too dependent on block cores
I have 72 MGB GT and 75 1500 Midget, looking at rebuilding engines. What cam bearings would you suggest rather than the split ones you showed. Cheers, great in depth content.
Looks like you will have to become good mates with Lake Speed JR, my schedule didn't give me a enough time to skip over from Russia to see your work shop . Kit from down under

Hi Chris, yes still plenty to do, the b engines wasn't as straightforward as thought. Yep just me and Sam
Yes they still do loads, just not any bottom end machining. Your correct on the cores too
@@graceenginedevelopments Far more labour intensive than people tend to think. Especially if it's done as it should be, which you seem to do.
@gothicpagan.666 yes there's definitely a lot to do/check and fix on them.. thank you.

oselli
Thanks Paul
Would you happen to know what it would cost to ship you an engine to rebuild from US.
Mike
Hi Mike, I'm not too sure, when I bought my Dyno from the US the shipping and import tax came to £220 if that helps
Looks like you will have to become good mates with Lake Speed JR, my schedule didn't give me a enough time to skip over from Russia to see your work shop .
Kit from down under
He's a very clever guy.. that's a shame, next time.
Why arnt you using better quality cam bearings , why would you use sub quality parts
They were supplied, we have advised them to upgrade.
