Where I live there was a law recently passed that prohibits companies from even selling loot boxes in games because if minors buy them it counts as gambling. While Fortnite did their item shop and battlepass pretty well, I think the downside comes in how they negatively influenced other games and companies. Tons of games have battle passes nowadays and almost all of them want you to grind to get anything cool. Often times this progress is only over a limited time so you find yourself just barely missing things you wanted, or you might not get close at all if you don't play very often. I enjoy playing games because I play them when I want to, not because the game makes you grind for it
Something my friend told me about fortnite is that you only need to buy the battle pass once (it's 950 vbucks) And you earn 1,500 vbucks total which means you can buy the next battle pass and still have 650 vbucks left over and if you repeat that multiple times you can basically get any skin you want
The item shop in Super Animal Royale is pretty good, there's a dedicated section for Pay-For currency and a section for currency you get just playing the game
I remember reading in a reddit post that selling products in a bundle but not offering said products to be bought individually is illegal in some countries, and since the kiriko skin can only be bought through the 2600 credit bundle, Blizzard is straight up commiting a crime. (Additionally, how tf can a bundle be "29%" off if the items were released like a week ago and we have no clue how much each item costs?)
I hope one day blizzard can listen to the community and fix the shop Make the legendary skins like at least 5- 10 dollars each and add the coins into the battle pass and then boom the game will be better

i agree with the dst bit and the best part about the skins are they are mostly (but a few) free and you get a daily gift and more if you just play the game but the best part is if you dont like a skin you can spool it and get spools which then you can make into other skins which is the best part just playing the game can get you best skins.
For $15 I could buy Hollow knight, a game I’ve players and loved 300 hours of, but add $11 to that price tag and instead I can get I get a skin for one character in overwatch 2.
According to a friend of mine, this isn't a scam, but a Marketing 101... I told him, y'know that putting a discount on a bundle of items when its a completely new bundle is a lil scummy, and he justified it by saying all the companies do it, and saying that technically, they ain't lying about the bundle prices since it has a lot of items in it, I said that the price is still pretty steep for a skin, then he used real life items to try deflect my claim, saying that there's wants in people, how they spend their money and such, sure if you wanna spend 20$ on a single skin in a multibillion mismanaged game, go ahead, but don't frame me like the idiot here. He said that... that nowadays, gaming companies do these shit and there's nothing we can do about it as individuals, and yeah, I agree, but buying into their scummy practices kinda diminishes that statement, if you want them to stop, stop buying whatever garbages they try to shit out. Best part is, he bought the Kiriko skin, it's nice, sure, but ain't worth the 20 usd. Rant End.
One other game that I think does a really good job is Fall Guys. A lot of people say that it is worse now but for a F2P frame it does a good job, it's essentially Fortnite's pass, but the battle passes have many more skins that, compared to recent Fortnite seasons imo, have much more appeal. In the item shop, at most expensive for a single skin it will cost 1200, the price of a rare Fortnite skin. You still get 1500 from the battle pass as well as plentiful and likeable skins, I currently have 2 full battle passes, an 800 skin, a 10 buck 3 skin bundle with show-bucks, and 2250 show-bucks as well as the seasonal 2 completely free skins. for 20 bucks, the price of the OG game, and I only see myself spending maybe another 30.
*Oblivion Horse Armor and it's consequences have been a disaster for the human race.* I could get whole, complete indie games/older games for the price of even the fortnite skins. I could go buy myself some kitchenware or other assortments of real life stuff that would genuinely improve my QoL. The idea of one skin costing more than $5 (normally I'd say $3 but I'm aware inflation exists) is just ludicrous to me, especially considering there are multiple skins. For the price of 2 Overwatch skins I can take my family out to a restaurant. I get the impression that people who are okay with this are not buying these with their own money.
In a twisted sense, I really don't mind Overwatch selling these items at an exorbitant price. In my mind they can slap whatever price tag they want on anything they make. For me, it's the suckers that make this a viable business model that are frustrating
That "Bundle" tactic is a pretty common thing among games. In order to gouge out as much money as possible, they add a bunch of crap to artificially increase the price and prevent you from buying them on their own. Also I think that "discount" in OW2 is actually breaking the law. Those items were released with the discount on top, which is suppose to create the FOMO effect, encouraging people to buy it immediately. In Europe, Australia and Canada that thing is straight out illegal.
Recommend you talk about brawlstars, it's a goofy ah battle pass fighting game with a baby fanbase but recently they murdered their loot box system and replaced it with something better for free players. The lootboxes weren't terrible before but I still respect the hell out of supercell for that decision.

i agree with the dst bit and the best part about the skins are they are mostly (but a few) free and you get a daily gift and more if you just play the game but the best part is if you dont like a skin you can spool it and get spools which then you can make into other skins which is the best part just playing the game can get you best skins.
they also took skins off players and made them buy it again for $5 each
Thank you foekoe, now i'm getting resident evil 1-3
I literally got full loadouts for heavy and pyro for 10 zloty (around 2 dollars) through the steam market
For $15 I could buy Hollow knight, a game I’ve players and loved 300 hours of, but add $11 to that price tag and instead I can get I get a skin for one character in overwatch 2.
Everything Blizzard makes after Starcraft 2 ended is a scam.
But here's the good thing about this: the sfm model is now let loose on the internet.
I love spending $20 for a skin
*Oblivion Horse Armor and it's consequences have been a disaster for the human race.*
I could get whole, complete indie games/older games for the price of even the fortnite skins.
I preffer having loot boxes over getting 60 to 80 coins by completing weekly challenges
for some reason the skins mess up the outlines of the characters more than tf2 hats and cosmetics
1:00 Foekoe lore: The guy can't do math
In a twisted sense, I really don't mind Overwatch selling these items at an exorbitant price. In my mind they can slap whatever price tag they want on anything they make. For me, it's the suckers that make this a viable business model that are frustrating
average cost of a gun skin in valorant is 20$ 😢 some skin bundles can go up to 100$
That "Bundle" tactic is a pretty common thing among games.
I like how it went from fortnite is the worst video game to overwatch 2
Bruh, they made us miss LOOT BOXES! I honestly think the people at Blizzard are having a competition with EA on who can scam the most people.
Recommend you talk about brawlstars, it's a goofy ah battle pass fighting game with a baby fanbase but recently they murdered their loot box system and replaced it with something better for free players. The lootboxes weren't terrible before but I still respect the hell out of supercell for that decision.
Imagine paying one third of a game for a skin.
The scariest part of this video is that you use light mode on twitter
Blizzard could sell a skin that’s exactly the same as the normal one but with 2 pixels changed and people would still buy it for 60 dollars
Fall guys shop is the best hands down, their legendary skins are 8 bucks and their bundles are usually 12
Man i miss lootboxes now truly something i didnt think id ever hear someone say
Ok so my last comment was deleted because I think foekoe has it to where comments can't have links in it and a misspell made a link to nothing, so I will just rewrite my comment
For 26 bucks I could:
-Buy deep rock galactic, an actual fun game
-Have 6 extra dollars
-Play deep rock galactic
-Play deep rock galactic
-Promote deep rock galactic
In summary, play deep rock galactic
If you like having fun you will like it
if you bought the founder's pack for save the world you just have infinite v bucks because of daily quests, but you can't buy founders pack anymore so you'll only get these ticket things
theres literally a bundle in roblox thats only limited time and costs about 300 dollars
Wait until he sees VALORENT
Me, a Chilean, looking at the prices and having to scale them up to almost a THOUSAND in order to actually see their price, and preferring to fucking die rather than think about it: Yeah I guess it's kinda scammy
The best monetization is NO monetization
I do love playing over clock super much! My favourite part is where
Noooooooo Overwatch servers are down!!
TF2: Come my child
Now let's hope and pray that said servers aren't infested with insufferable bots
Most expensive race swap I’ve ever seen
