I grow up in the old PT Barnum thank you for showing this video you are awesome kinda made me home sick a little can you show a video of Bldg 4 in PT Barnum and how the Apts look inside now..
My brother would probably remember this area better than I do; he drove a milk delivery route for a while and was telling me about having to go through some sketchy areas.
That’s bldg number 8. I used to live there from 77-82 it was bad back then trust me. My boy was this black kid named Frank Hammond. And I remember the infamous Spanish family that lived there. Frankie “the terminator” Estrada, his kinfolk all had names like French fry, mustard and ketchup. There was an art and music center not too far and we used to recycle cans and bottles to the store right out by the entrance. That’s when you could buy penny candies and the chip bags would be full to the top 😂 there was also a big field where we used to play football and baseball behind that store. I sent my mom this video and she cried from the good memories. Don’t get it twisted though it was dangerous
Great memories for me. I moved there in 77’ moved in 82’ Frankie Hammond was my boy. We lived in bldg 8 in the front by the police station and the mailroom. It was wild out there I don’t remember those metal stairs going to the upper floors, that’s newer. Since we was poor we would recycle bottles and cans and go across the street to the store and they had all the penny candies, juices and chips you could dream of😂 the older guys would still play with the youngins back in those days I always was included in the football games in that field behind the store. The youth arts and crafts center was nice even had music instruments and stuff in there. I remember being chased by a bully a few times I was like 10 and he was a teenager. He wanted my bike. One day he hit me with a rock while chasing me cause I got away from his dumbass. When I got home and my mom seen that lump on my head she grab me by the hand made me take her to they little hang out and my moms gave them a classic Puerto Rican curse out. They never messed with me again😅. I also recall us knowing the infamous Frankie “the terminator” Estrada and his family. I remember cause they all had names like French fry, ketchup and what not. I later learned he became a killer and drug lord out there, allegedly. I’m good on ct though. After we moved we came to visit my moms friend by the Marina and let me tell you all we heard was gunshots all night bro. My moms said pack y’all shit we never coming back 😂😂 All in all it was cool I lived there for a short part of my life and big ups to CT
Even though Bridgeport is a big hood, I still love it! It is the home to the inventions of the frisbee and the modern circus! It used to be a very nice city, but after WW2, the transition from manufacturing to technology happened, so the factories laid off their workers. I know this as I live in a suburb of Bridgeport.
I think out of the decent sized cities in Connecticut (over 100K), New Haven is my favorite, Hartford, Waterbury and Bridgeport are all very bad and Stamford is just okay. If I were to rank them from the best to worst it would be this: 1. New Haven (they have problems but at least have nice things and things to do. The area by Lighthouse Point Park is really nice.) 2. Stamford (Okay, not that good but not that bad either.) 3. Hartford (Very bad but at least the Downtown area has some nice things and things to do. The state capital is very beautiful). 4. Waterbury (Terrible I can't think of anything good about Waterbury). 5. Bridgeport (Terrible city with very little to do for its size. It feels relatively empty which is why a lot of people don't realize it's the largest city in Connecticut. I heard Black Rock at least is very nice but I have never been there.)
Back in 1964 when I was in High School, I was a member of a choir at school. We were invited to sing at the dedication of some building in Hartford. A whole bunch of building, renovation, and general sprucing-up had been going on and the whole place looked like everyone swept their sidewalks and raked their lawns, that's how neat the neighborhoods looked then. It's a damn shame about how it is now.
@@samanthab1923 most American cities have the college’s run in the middle of the ghetto. I used to live in New Haven and where I stayed was the hood. Yale was down the street lol

And the Spanish women don’t front on Blacc dudes . So I definitely like the selection. They need to put some money into the downtown area tho . More stores clubs and restaurants.
Saw my Bld 14 grew up here..they fucked it up when they made it like this...lot of good times growing up here...when we came here in 1957 until 95 when Moms moved
New York is way worse. The people I've met in Bridgeport have all been nice and polite plus plenty of food spots. I noticed a lot more mom and pop stores than over here in NY.
Don’t get it twisted. Shit definitely happens out here. This city is a city of crooks but for the most part if you mind your business and stay out the way you’ll be fine
@@eastend.zulu. Like NYC. Bridgeport used to be really bad. BPT is not as bad as it used to be but of course shit still pops off. Any metropolitan city is basically the same.

I used to buy stuff here. Then I would go home and upon entering my vein the drug would start a warm itch that would surge along until the brain consumed it in a gentle explosion that began in the back of the neck and rose rapidly until I felt such pleasure that the world sympathised and took on a soft and lofty appeal. Everything was grand then. Your worst enemy, he wasn't so bad. The ants in the grass, they were just, you know, doin' their thing. Everything took on the rosy hue of unlimited success. You could do no wrong. And as long as it lasted, life... was beautiful.
Grew up in South Yonkers we use to hit Bridge Port every other weekend too visit Family. Me and my siblings had no problems here.

Those big stairways and porches were not original. They replaced central corridors on each floors, which presented too much of a crime risk.
