- Harry Wayne Casey (KC) tells the story behind the song 'That's The Way (I Like It) by KC & The Sunshine Band. A documentary by Top 2000 a gogo from 2012..
KC is a national treasure.
There was a time in the mid to late 70s when one could go nowhere without hearing KC and the Bee Gees. A fun time. Great music.
You mean anywhere?
@@fidelbanuelos9601 great reply 👍
I can barely remember those days,,,seemed like everyone was happier
@@fidelbanuelos9601
Nope.
When you hear stories bout how everyone was doing drugs mostly “coke”back in those.they weren’t joking.if you walked up to some friends and been offered a line and refused or passed on you were singled out.it’s a miracle any of these artists lived to tell their stories
Growing up in the 70s KC was one of the best
How I miss those days 😩
Dam it I’m going back to 70’s & 80’s in a blink... I’ll be right back.!
Esses vídeos deveriam ter legendas em Português ❤❤❤
Lindo e gostoso demais 😋
THAT ORIGINAL HORN SECTION WAS FIRE 🔥
I was born in 1983, but KC was really hot back in the day. I bet those days were so much fun. Thank you for the great music.❤
Homeboy was a god back in the day.
His horn section SLAYED back in the day.
Kc a massive influence in the music of the 70s .
I saw KC in concert. One of the best I've ever seen. Fun!
I was a teenager in the 70s loved K.C. and the sunshine band he music helped me thru some dark times in my life Thanks K.C.!
Gotta love KC. Every song he sings is about blanking. Saw him a few times in 2003 & got to meet him. Nice man.
Greatest "to-do" list of all time
1)Do a little dance
2)make a little love
3)get down tonight
I like the way dancing is prioritized over making love. Mine would be eating first but that's just me
@J Wil
40 years later To Do List, yes yes yes.
You are funny......
Omgosh thanks for a good laugh!!
The 70's where the best decade of my life. It was relentless, unabashed PARTYING!
My landlord's son plays trumpet in his band. He's healthier than you think. Got clean, has a "no drugs in the band" policy and pays his band well. Lay off KC.
@Timothy Gray So when are you coming out of the closet dear? No one should be that obsessed with the subject.
I commend KC for cleaning up. We all fall at some point. Redemption is important.
@Timothy Gray So who are YOU out to fuck? Yourself, no doubt. That's the way uh uh uh uh you like it...
joshua, you sound like you take it bent over kid.
No way.
im australian 55 grew up listening to him dont care what u americans think of him he,s xlent good peformer good music pretty fly for a white guy lol kudos to him keep boogeing down kc and the band xox
I’m an American and I agree that KC was underrated here. The problem is that the music industry is always so big and so varied here and the most popular performers and singles tend to get treated like their level of commercialism somehow doesn’t mean there wasn’t real talent possessed.
I always said KC was the happiest music ever.
KC is a musical genius! I always thought he is a great talent! As far as any negative comments that are posted here, ask yourself this question: If you don't like KC, why did you even watch this video.......or even come to this video to begin with?? I know if there is a musical artist I don't like, I just avoid them on RUclips. Makes you wonder why the haters in the comment section even came here in the first place, and did not avoid this video. In fact, they even watched it. Sounds like closet KC fans. KC RULES...HE IS THE BEST!!
You shouldn't be asking why these KC haters come here, you should be asking; would the world be a more happy place WITHOUT KC and the Sunshine Band music? Even the haters would have to admit that this music makes the world a tiny bit happier for a lot of people, even if THEY don't like it.
Just worked with him a couple of years ago. Still doing a great show. You have to give him credit for the fact that he came back in the 80's with one of his best songs "Give It Up".
John Zucco Hey you know good songwriting never goes out of style, and a good songwriter never forgets how to write or and wants to keep writing.
First album was huge, he changed the game too! 🔥
Sorry, I can't help saying that Harry was so gorgeous at this age! He has always had such a beautiful smile!
I wish KCSB hadn't done away with the cowbells! They were a nice touch!
👍😍I love it! 💝
👍It’s 2020 and my friend’s little baby instantly stops crying and starts dancing when he hears any song by KC & The Sunshine Band!! All of these years later their music is still making people (and babies) happy!! 💝🤗💞🤗
Your child must have realized by then that there is something worse than her own grief when hearing KC

KC is just an amazing talent in so many aspects
Total Legend of a Band and what a Fantastic Song Writer
Met KCback in the 90's fundraising for Aids. Such a lovely guy. Glad to see him still performing.
Born in 67, grew up in the 70’s: I recall KC and all of the Sunshine Band as an act that was unparalleled. No one put on a performance like this group.
I liked them as a little kid, then hated them as a young adult, and like them again as an adult. Nothing wrong with disco, and nothing wrong with upbeat music.
@@mikearchibald744 that's so funny. Me too! How I wish I was 18-25 in 1977.
Although i bought all of KCSB's music as a kid, I can't say that "no one" put on a performance like them. I guess you never saw Earth Wind and Fire in concert during that same period. EWF had thee absolute best visual shows in the world at that time. No one could top EWF's visuals and there live sounds that were just like their recordings. They were amazing.
Nope!
There is no better song to dance to in a dance club than 'That's the way I like it'. The pounding beat, the droning bass guitar line, and the back up singers singing 'oooohhh ooooohhhh oooooohhhh oooooooohhhhh ooooooohhhhhh'....
Yeah, a lot of work went into those socially conscious lyrics.
@@farrellmcnulty909 La música es eso, música. El mensaje lo puedes poner tú. KC alegra, divierte.... Eso está mal??
Saludos desde el maravilloso sur de Chile.
So now we know what Ashton Kutcher will look like in 40 years time
*20 years
I think he looks like Freddy Star
Laugh all the way to the bank, KC! Love your stuff!
KC is awesome!
I adore KC and The Sunshine Band!! Grew up on their music and I'm 55 now and when I hear one of their songs on the radio, I still crank it up and butt boogie in my seat!!!
KC your sounds helped me out of a deep dpression early in my life. your songs are timeless. thankyou
Love KC Such a Huge Talent!!!!!
It's just not a party without KC & The Sunshine Band's music ! 💖⚘👍🙋♀️
I saw them in 1999 I think it was. AWESOME show! People never sat down the entire time.
Good lord, I saw KC & the Sunshine Band perform in front of the castle at Walt Disney World on New Years Eve sometime around '76 or so. I was never a big disco fan but I am glad to have seen that back then. You gotta admit... he knew how to write a hooky song.
They had so many good tracks you could just dance to or listem to they are still using their music today its that good
Christmas 1975 or 76. Hollywood sportatorium. My first concert. 6 bands. KC was the headliner. Tickets? $4 lolol
A week's wages $8
Rock your baby ... influenced Abba for Dancing Queen
KC influenced the Bee Gees into disco.
I love KC and the Sunshine Band, they really put their heart in their music & you can feel it❤
My 1st concert circa 1976, Las Vegas Convention Center 🤸❣️🧘🌟🤸
They must have partied hard back then... Love K. C. and the Sunshine band. Good vibes never fade away!
I saw him & the SSBand at Disney World at the height of his fame. I was standing about 8 ft from the stage. It was electrifying! There is nothing like live music & KC had a hot bod to boot! Such good times.
Same here! It was on New Years Eve when I saw him there.
@@jppagetoo It's possible we shared a flask, then lol😜Cheers, my friend!🍀
The dude created his own unique sound.
I was in 6th grade when this song first hit and I can still remember it like it was yesterday.
I was 18 growing up in Miami, and it was very sexually corrupt for teenagers. The truth, guys would expect to have sex on any first date, even going to see a movie at the Theater type date! (I had an incident where I had the guy just drop me off and have my parents pick me up, cos that's what he expected.) And funny how Harry wrote these very suggestive type songs with that sexual tone running through them! Like, "That's the way I like it" and "Give it up, baby give it up"😳😳😳 Crazy, just looking back at that!
Yeah, that's true - and especially him coming from a religious, Evangelical Pentecostal family, you wouldn't think he'd put out this type of subject matter. Maybe he was in rebellion against his religion. I do appreciate that he attributes his success to God, though.
Boogie man is so aggressively fun. His other songs are lovely but boogie man forces you to be confident and dance
When music was just fun.
Have so many great memories from the 70's dancing in discos to their fantastic music !!
Still to this day if I hear him on the radio I crank it up 😚
his music gives positiv vibes and energy. still after 40 years!
This song reminds me of going to the skating rink. I am so glad I was a kid in the 70-80's.
The music is still influencial even today
K.C. and the Sunshine band in the 70s was always that happy kid in class that kept things positive.
So, a clown 🤡
we still love them!💕
and so lovely that they're remembered and appreciated in Europe, too!👍
That entire group are bad ass musicians, Dancers are great too!
“Every major artist in the world was influenced by this sound we started 40 years ago”. You could never ever said something more true. And thank you oh so very much for all of you guys back from the 70’s and 80’s have existed. Without you, music would never be the same!! #gratitude 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Thats a lie. Black people made disco. Disco is r&b
@@ertfgghhhh Exactly, though it started as funk. Disco actually was when it became less hip. James Brown, Sly Stone.,Curtis Mayfield, P- Funk. The Isley Brothers.
KC just expanded on the house they built.
@@jgsrhythm100 and funk was rhythm and blues (r&b)
@@ertfgghhhh
1) James Brown- I got the feeling
2) Sly Stone - Thank You
3) Curtis Mayfiekd - Move on Up
4) P- Funk - Year the Roof off the Sucker All 100% Funk
calm down cowboy....we get it.
Seriously underrated. Love KC.
Grooviest white guy ever!!!
If I had a dollar for every time I danced to KC & The Sunshine Band back in the day I would be a wealthy woman . . . and if I still danced to it I would be a much slimmer one! Loved it then, love it now!
This looks like a bizarre Tony Soprano dream sequence.
davidletuck That’s very clever
There is only 1 KC, what a cool dude !!
I don't recall the month, but in 1994, I was with a friend who was a drummer in a small-time metal band. We used to tease each other about a variety of things. We'd just flown from Nashville to LAX. Walked out onto the sidewalk to wait for the shuttle to take us to the Hertz car rental site. Someone walked up almost right beside me and I looked over briefly and it was K.C. (Casey). I turned to my friend and told him this was his big chance and if he wants I'll introduce ourselves and get him set up with an audition. It was funny, but it was actually K.C. and a group of people with him. I guess his band at the time.
Absolutely Brilliant I must say
That’s The Way Mr, KC I Still Like It! Monster where I am I hear KC and instantly I’m a teen again, Thank You KC!!!
He reminds me of Jim Carrey when he was young.
The John Mayer of Disco
T.K Records biggest artist was K.C. & Sunshine Band. K.C. started working for the company in the mail room!
KC That’s The Way We STILL like it!!!
Without a doubt all the musicians performing are very talented professionals but Finch made that band back in the day. There is no argument there. Too bad about what happened and the path he choose. Hope he has changed for the better.
His songs made me happy .
mensen zaten bij zijn concert
ONGELOFELIJK!!!
Oh my oh my i do so love Kc and the sunshine Band.
Funky white boy with a funky ass band
Looks like Harry got married (he was 61 in this video)! YAYYY for him - I hope he has a happy rest of his life, and may God continue to bless him!!!
Anyone know who Harry was married to at this point in his life?! I thought I read that his wife unfortunately died of cancer, but he may have remarried. It's unfortunate that he never had any children (that we know of) to pass on his amazing talents to. I also read that he's been married to the same woman for the past 40 years, in a recent video, he says he's single....so it's hard to know what the truth is.
@@mercedesferreira2058 Harry has never been married. He's gay and was in a relationship with Richard Finch for several years.
@@rorydedman55: There's no proof of that story - only innuendo. I know Harry supports the gay lifestyle, but I've never seen anything official, that says that he also lived the lifestyle himself. Just because he lived with a gay child molester doesn't mean he was one as well. Read up on Finch; he was arrested on a morals charge.
My God now looking back its the pop of the day .. I remember my uncle rolling his eyes at this ...lol
He was right
Wow that was a fancy senior center K.C was playing at
One of the great rnb bands of the 1970s
When he came out with those horns blasting, it was awesome. There were no horns in disco
Average white band pick up the pieces no horns?
There were horns in disco. KC just took it to its greatest catchy commercial potential.
I appreciate this a lot more now than I did when I was 10, when they were at their peak. If you were into rock music you were not supposed to like disco. And the stage presence of this man was kind of obnoxious (or so I felt). It's classic stuff though, it aged really well.
so many sick basslines
KC and the Sunshine Band played at my elementary school in Miami in the mid 70s; i enjoy seeing all the old white people with no rhythm in this vid🤣
This is not the way 13 people like it, apparently...
I was a toddler and this sound came out of the radio, it was different than anything Id ever heard but am radio in the 70s and its variety did that all the time
Lo mejor hasta hoy dia esto es musica y siempre esta gracias por existir kc y harry
Seems pretty humble to me.
What choice does he have?
Give it up was the last song they made. The KC sound is timeless.
When I come home at night, my dog does a little dance, makes love to my leg, and I tell him to get down!
The last iconoclast LOLOL 🤣🤣
Deep stuff maaaaaan.
Just........ Thank you.
Thanks KC...that's the way I like it
Can't tell me this song doesn't get that butt shaking when it starts playing...does mine man!
KC started disco. mmm I'll have to look into that. I was in a cover band that played a lot of disco then.
DigNap15 He is absolutely not giving credit where credit is due. I’ve never heard that he invented disco
I believe you would have to look i to TSOP The Sound of Philly that did the music for early Soultrain 72-73. It wasn't called Disco but it had that sound that made it Disco sound tssss, tssss, tssss early R and B. Nile Rogers is another good refference.
DigNap15 Barry White and Van McCoy started disco. KC was on the vanguard of white bands playing disco. KC has the most natural feel for the groove though (check out Rock Your Baby)
He was very cute. Wonder if he likes the ladies or no
No hes gay..:(
@suzieparis6821 : PROVE it, and STOP making unfounded accusations!
This raised the vibration of the world
Not to mention Boogie Shoes and Please Dont Go
There back! I would argue that they have never left. Those songs are popular at events because they get people moving 😚
Great songs😀
He's a real genius. He really wrote history.
