I remember how this song grabbed me when it came out in 1974. It is still a fantastic song. George has such a fantastic soulful voice, then there is that tight groove of very talented musicians behind him. Just fantastic, makes you want to move. It also makes me miss the 1970’s. Such a great era for music of all kinds.
Sometimes when I listen to songs like this one and others, I get a major flashback to how those times were, like if I opened my eyes I would be back there in the 1970’s living the care free life I knew back then. It was all so long ago now.

This song sold about $100 and went #1 in 82 countries. So even, if George is only getting 20c or 30c on dollar, he’s eating good off that one monster hit.
Love this song when it first came out in 74’ and still love it today..talk about a classic!

I love this song and have since I first heard it when it first came out. I was 11. The best part of this story is that George was able to find lasting love as a result of having recorded this lovely song, and is obviously in a very good place in life. It is good to know he is happy. He looks fantastic, as well.

Two amazing things I learnt watching this video - His wife is Dutch and the song was written by the creatives in KC and the Sunshine band. Now that makes perfect sense because I suddenly heard how much this song sounds like "Keep it coming love" - Two great songs anyway.

George isn't a ONE hit wonder. His "I Get Lifted" was a BEAST in Detroit & the Midwest when it came out We also liked "I Can't Leave You Alone". And if my song sold that much, I'd probably have my name on my hat, shirt, car, everything I own.

Not mentioned in the video : He was about to return to college to study law enforcement, when Richard Finch and Harry Wayne Casey of KC and the Sunshine Band invited him to sing the lyrics for a song that they had recorded for the band, but could not reach the high notes that were required for the song. The original intention was that Gwen McCrae, his wife, should record it, but she was late for the session and George recorded alone. It suited his high-pitched voice to the extent that the song.

1 song... does not make you great. All this man is doing is living a memory. But trying to say that his song started the disco scene is a Balled faced LIE and that must be corrected now! And before anyone says about being jealous of his "wealth" heh I Know I got more money than he has now. I live in one of the most expensive places in the US and enjoy the weather and the good life. I also have a good wife as well.
He's living in Aruba because he can stretch his money that he gets from his royalties.
Kind of sad, really but he should have kept things true instead of flapping his lips about his one hit wonder, trying to act like he is famous, well he is not and HE did not start off the disco scene.
