Congrats on living the dream! You’re smart to sail as much as possible to learn the boat. I just sold my starter boat after 7 years and I’m about done replacing the engine on my “last” boat, the one I’m taking around the world. See you out there.
@Sailing_With_Phoenix not far from here .if u ever need help doing what ever sanding ,wrenching cleaning I'm down to help a extra hand is hard to come by this days .
Important tip for your fuel shut off cable... Put the inner wire completely out of the sheathe. Then, using a chainsaw bar tip grease gun (cheap and handy for hundreds of things), pump 3 pumps from that grease gun per foot of cable length. Thread the center wire back in, you will have some grease pushed all the way through, and hook it all back up. That 1 time grease will last years. First time it starts to move feeling restricted, repeat with about 1½ pumps/foot of cable. 👍🏻
@Sailing_With_Phoenix nope. Farmer here. A cheap backup is a cheap choke cable (basically the same thing) avaliable at any Autoparts store. They are less durable, but super easy to route around all the nooks and crannies. Just beginning my sailing adventures too.
You might be able to swap the knobs but who cares it works. I just fixed mine it's so nice to not have to go to the engine room and cut the fuel to get the engine to shut down. Alot safer too.
I tried the other knob. It was just a cheep knob that was like built into the system lol but I know I'll be checking the garbage from time to time for smaller knobs. Oddly enough one of my phone mounts has the same size threads so l might just put that on😂
28 ft Triton in cali $2 grand one owner . You wont last long , nvr go on deck without a harnes lag line w life vest. Solo sailing not a vacation . # 1 rule

I agree. I need to get one and start getting into the habit of using it too for when I cross to Hawaii.
