  • In this video, I make a Mishimoto Oil cooler kit designed for a 2008 to 2014 Subaru WRX fit on my 2005 Subaru Outback XT. There are no good kits on the market for the Outback XT and Legacy GT. I had a suspicion that the Mishimoto kit designed for the 08-14 WRX with the same engine would be close to fitting. And I was right the kit bolts up nicely with a little bit of bumper trimming, and optional bash bar trimming.
Hope you enjoyed the video, and don't forget to Like, Comment, Share, and Subscribe!
    Thanks for watching!

To prime the system for any "air cavitation" just disconnect the injectors, loosen the oil filter turn over for 15 seconds( new build) or till oil comes out 1-4 seconds, if your paranoid you can tighten the filter and repeat once again, but unless its a new build there is typically enough oil in the system and sump to not cause cavitation, yes you may have 1-3 seconds of lite oil starvation but same happens on a cold start or long sit times.

Not sure if you did, but pre-filling the cooler will help with priming the system when it opens.

That would probably work, I would be a little worried about an airbuble getting trapeze and making it hard to bleed kind of like when you pre fill an oil filter

Yeah you're supposed to fill the oil cooler up then put som ein the hoses prior to hooking it all up.
