I'm going on 3 months sober after 27 years of drinking myself into the ground. I never drank everyday but I was a binge drinker. I'd drink until I blacked out and I'd sometimes or most of the time be drinking for 12 hours straight and go to work the next day. I'd never remember how I made it home. Well one day I woke up and I was tired. Tired from drinking and tired if slowly killing myself. I felt so ill. I was in bed curled up in pain and suffering from the effects of drinking too much... everything in my body was in pain. My liver my heart my head and I felt like if I had one more night of heavy drinking I would not make it home alive I cried out to God and asked Him to save me.i hated myself so much I had so much shame. I kept crying and all of a sudden I couldn't cry anymore. I felt some kind of peace in my heart and my soul. I went back to sleep to sleep off my hangover. I woke up later that day feeling no effects of the night before which is amazing because it would take 2 days to feel halfnormal again in order to even think about getting out of bed. I was well enough to get groceries and replenish my nutrients and energy because I dont eat if I drink. So I am declaring that Jesus is Lord and He is my recovery He hugged all my pain away that day I have not had one craving. Its poison and I'm not going to kill myself anymore
Amen! Congratulations to you! Keep faith in him and as he tries to pull you in don't fight it, turn to him. God is always there for you and will always love you no matter how you stumble or fail. He's always waiting for you to lean into him with open arms!
This hit home like nothing else... I was driving home on a snowy night and this came on the radio. I had been singing around, but as soon as I heard this I went quiet... I really really needed to hear this. It's been a hard few years.

Our children are only 6, 8 and 10 and their world has been turned upside down. They are learning that God really is with us when we walk through the fire. God promises to bring good out of all our awful experiences (Romans 8:28) and He will NEVER ever leave you or reject you. Please remember your ex-husband is not the enemy - we war not against flesh and blood (Ephesians 6:12) and absolutely NOTHING can separate you from God's love. Some other songs that have helped me are Beloved by Tenth Avenue North, Beloved by Jordan Feliz, More by Matthew West, Just Be Held, Who Am I and Praise You In This Storm by Casting Crowns, Diamonds by Hawk Nelson, There is a Hope by Stuart Townend, There Will Be A Day by Jeremy Camp, Still by Hillsong United but of course there are loads more. Love this song, I still remember like it was yesterday when I decided to go to Shalom recovery center in hot springs arkansas. First night there we went to church and I knelt at the altar and cried out to jesus, "I accept you, I accept you!" I felt a pull on my stomach, not just any pull but this felt like someone literally got a hold on my stomach from the inside and just pulled. From that day and onward to this day, I have never desired drugs or alcohol again, I didn't even experiance any withdrawal after that day either. I still believe to this day, and will continue to believe that The Lord removed my addiction from my body. Some people believe that miracles don't happen anymore but I'm living proof that they do. If He can change me, he can change anyone. Jesus is truly my recovery. Praise God.
