Glad to see you sorting things out and the kindness of Johannes in helping you rebuild. It's nice to know your neighbours have your back like that. I live in Romania, very near the Carpathien mountains. Things like this are very normal for people who live here. I was wondering for how long you will be able to pull this off. I also thought weather must be really nice in the Alps in Italy for allowing you to have an outdoor kitchen and things built up in the open like that. Usually out here people build strong houses for everything. (main house, barns, summer kitchen, etc) Be strong, you will rebuild everything, this gives you the chance to rebuilt stronger and better.

Living in the mountains and embracing all the different kinds of weather shows how the previous inhabitants chose to survive all odds. Simple stone buildings that don't break up under the tremendous force of the winds. And so Martijn we all are encouraged by your strength and determination moving ahead and how incredible it is to have a neighbour as determined to help you save what he could. In the 1960's he built a home, garage, and workshop on a desert property in northwest Arizona. There was only electricity, he hauled his water. He used only redwood lumber, and hammered every nail by hand, by himself. He was a carpenter, a minister, and was a calm soul. The house, though unoccupied, still stands.
