Jim hates them, but a legal necessity for passenger vehicles. I don't think Baron and Earl ever had them on before, so trial with bells. Just more noise to them, trial successful.
Jim, a wonderful video today rolling and trimming out the sleigh trail . The camera positioning was terrific focused over the horses poll and ears as they watched their buddy Jim working. Also a great drone shots of the farm.
Loved all the different camera angles in this video. It was so beautiful seeing the woods so silent and laden with snow. Loved the sleigh bells too. Reminded me of Frost’s poem: “the woods are lovely, dark and deep, but I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep.” Have a wonderful New Year with good health and prosperity for all the Gordon family!
OH MY...WHAT A BEAUTIFUL WINTER SNOW MORNING! HI JIM....HI BRENDA......Thanks for the "sleigh ride" around the farm. (Jim, you sound like you have a cold, bad timing, don't work too hard & let Brenda pamper you a little bit!). Hope you enjoy the rest of the Holidays & GOD BLESS...❤😊❤😮❤😊😊
Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way. Oh, what fun it is to ride in a two-horse open sleigh. Can never tell if the squeak is horses feet on snow or horses gassing. lol
Jim this is just a suggestion . An antique earth moving scoop pulled by the horse's and hole cut in the ice with an out board boat motor (small ) on a 2x4 frame (propeller) tillted up and water splashed up and over ice . Seen both suggestion work . See clear as mud . Love the music .😊😊😊😊
The team was waiting for you so nicely...the trail is lovely. We know from the past you don't like the sleigh bells....Did you know evil demons HATE the bells sounds..so ,you had a spiritually clean ride thru your beautiful woods.lov from South Alabama.
How beautiful,l love to see the snow and hear the bells on the horses harnesses.Skippy is really enjoying his rides with Jim 😊 Very best wishes dear friends 💞💐
This was lovely. We haven't gotten much snow and temps are in 40s and 50s here in Northwest Indiana. So it's a treat to see the snow covered trees and be in the quiet forest. Thank you!🌲
I ice skate and know exactly what Jim is trying to explain about ice snow is detrimental but occasionally the conditions are perfect for the glass ice and it's truly addictive to get to skate on Jim & Brenda are truly Gems 💎 ❤
So many horses now, its probably a challenge to decide which teams depending on the job. Blessings to you and your family. And of course I have my favorites, like every one else.
🤔Grooming/ rolling trail working and thinking 🧐 pond interesting how the landscape changes with a snowfall pretty nice I’d say Jim/Brenda see U next year 🤭👍👋
It certainly looks like winter wonderland now with all the snow! And I loved hearing the jingle of the sleigh bells!!! Skippy doesn't let a heavy snow slow him down one bit! Have a great weekend!🥰
We got some of that same snow storm. (lake Effect, but most of it passed north of our home/farm. so we only got about 4 inches out of it. great shots of clearing the sleigh trail and pond and like so many others love the Drone shots and gud music selection for it also. Now to see how Abby is making out with her move into her new house. thanks for sharing Pete. Hope you and Brenda and family have a Happy New Year and a healthy prosperous one. God Speed. ECF
It was awesome watching you ride through the snow today. Today, I went out to Annapolis MD to see the world famous Budweiser Clydesdales. What a job to hitch up the 8 horses.
A walk-behind snowblower is handy for the first few clearings until it will take heavier equipment. Pond like that would be handy for cutting ice out of back in the day too.
You could lay out a "Fox and Geese" course on the pond. We had a lot of fun playing that as kids. We also had a course laid out in a five acre field and we would play using our horses.
I see you have Snow, We're getting our First really good Snow today, and I'm setting her watching a Fairley well trained Team being Driven by a compentent Teanster Happy New Year Jin and Brinda
Sure wish I had some snow like that here, we have nothing but rain and mud. I'd be taking that wood back to your OWB. Maybe next sled workout. Must have had some wind along with the snow.
Beautiful video, snow at last, and I hope it keeps up. Trial with sleigh bells, no issues there, just more noise and the boys didn't even flicker. Bells were really for in the cities, as sleighs in snow are silent, and you never know what is around the corner. Apparently it is still mandatory for passenger sleighs to have bells, quite ridiculous out there, who is Jim gonna run into on what blind corner? Seasons Greetings from a scorching Australia.
Used to skate on a pond by where i lived growing up but doesnt seem like it gets cold enough very often anymore...i know ut used to be colder during Winters here in Arkansas...as my Mom said as a small child they used to travel by horse and buggy to visit relatives who lived 8n Oklahoma on the other side of the Arkansas River abd they drove across the ice on the river...abd they would cut ice blocks out of the river and store in cellars coverd with straw and would have ice up until 4th of July...know they have done thinks to nake the ruver better for barge traffic but i dont ever remember it being frozen over...certainly not where you could drive a liaded wagon and team across it
@workinghorseswithjim With dogs You are the pack leader. No requests in your voice, only commands. If you want Skippy up beside you or out front running block for the team or return home, a command that won't confuse the horses is best. Only praise is required as reward. Dogs want to please the pack leader, full stop. Nice edit.
Maybe someone else has mentioned it already, but a plow on the ATV would probably make short work of the snow on the pond. If it is a 4X4 anyway. Also not super heavy so as to break through the ice.
They make a lite grader blade for garden tiller that are self propelled. That is the only thing besides a snow blower that i can think of. Horse drawn drag on a long chain
Do you know the real vfc reason behind sleigh bells? It is because the muffking effect of the snow. People could not hear them coming no clop clop to get out of the way.
Hello Jim just wondering why don't you call your team to come to you when you were cutting those logs instead walking all the way back to them. Enjoying your videos. Happy New Year to you and family George Bazijanec
Horse farts and sleigh bells -what a combo! I loved the view when the horses were waiting. They were so curious watching what you were doing.
Grandfather always said that a farting horse will never tire. A farting man- is the man to hire!
😂😂
@@peewee.3138 That's funny!😘
"Toots" to accompany the bells!
Thank you Jim for a great video but did miss Brenda. Beautiful views go through your woods with all the snow on the fur trees. Blessings always.
Woo-hoo ! Sleigh bells ! I love it ❤
Jim hates them, but a legal necessity for passenger vehicles. I don't think Baron and Earl ever had them on before, so trial with bells. Just more noise to them, trial successful.
@louisecassidy5991 I guess it's nostalgia for me . Probably annoying for Jim , lol. The horses didn't seem to care.
Jim, a wonderful video today rolling and trimming out the sleigh trail . The camera positioning was terrific focused over the horses poll and ears as they watched their buddy Jim working. Also a great drone shots of the farm.
Yes, I loved watching from over the polls!
You are a hard worker Jim, when you looked back at the horse's they would stop being silly with each other. Good video, ty.
The farm looks so pretty with the snow.
These snow videos are surreal and so beautiful. Wishing Jim, Brenda, the Gordon fam, and the horses 🐎 a Happy/Healthy 2025. 🎉🎉
Love the sleigh in bells

I am 62 years old and have a learning disabilitie but I love your videos and love horses
I ice skate and know exactly what Jim is trying to explain about ice snow is detrimental but occasionally the conditions are perfect for the glass ice and it's truly addictive to get to skate on Jim & Brenda are truly Gems 💎 ❤
We had a pond on our farm and we would wait until a cold night and flood it. It was a beautiful slick skate in the morning!
Beautiful drone shots! If only I could go back and drone video over my grandfather's farm and my uncles' farms.
So many horses now, its probably a challenge to decide which teams depending on the job. Blessings to you and your family. And of course I have my favorites, like every one else.
Enjoyed the ride, ice pond explanation, and loved the drone footage! You got a really nice white blanket after the warm-up and mud!
I love the bells.
Love it Jim. It's beautiful.
Wonderful ride in the woods. I loved the jingle bells.
Thank you. The aerial views were wonderful.

A walk-behind snowblower is handy for the first few clearings until it will take heavier equipment. Pond like that would be handy for cutting ice out of back in the day too.
LOL. The horses were farting a lot. Very nice sleigh ride trail. I really liked the lively music when you had the drone up.
You could lay out a "Fox and Geese" course on the pond. We had a lot of fun playing that as kids. We also had a course laid out in a five acre field and we would play using our horses.
Enjoyed the ride through the woods, and the sky view at the end.Merry Christmas to all of the Gordon family.

I see you have Snow, We're getting our First really good Snow today, and I'm setting her watching a Fairley well trained Team being Driven by a compentent Teanster Happy New Year Jin and Brinda
We are few but we are many one task at a time !
Somebody had lots of gas. Made me chuckle lol
Hello from 1904 Electric Company House on the rocky coast of Maine, US.
A riding lawn mower with a snow plow works well on ice and isn't too heavy.
Sure wish I had some snow like that here, we have nothing but rain and mud. I'd be taking that wood back to your OWB. Maybe next sled workout. Must have had some wind along with the snow.

I think that Earl has officially taken first prize in the farting department, Ken has been dethroned LOL It's ok Earl, better out than in!
Enjoy your videos. I also received the 2025 calendar today 12/27/24. Thank you very much.😊😊
Love airel shots

Jim what is your analysis of training the Suffolk compared to the other breeds ?
You need to get a snow plow for the front of your quad too clean your pond off.
@workinghorseswithjim

Jim have you ever used or seen the tue weights that ive seen used in photos for carrying with you to drop on ground to tie horses too

I love your videos! Does they hay freeze in the barn during winter? I’m from South Florida 😂
No

Like adding motor sound to electric cars
Huskavara are good Sawa, but all the Saw I have had and have today don't like strsating when it really cold.
The ice seemed rough under the shovel.
Are the sleigh bells there to muffle the horse farts? Was that their intended purpose?
Ha that's a good one
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
❤❤
What kind of drone are you flying? And would you recommend it for a beginner?
Hello Jim just wondering why don't you call your team to come to you when you were cutting those logs instead walking all the way back to them. Enjoying your videos. Happy New Year to you and family
George Bazijanec
How did you mount the Camera on your Hore Jim?
How do you clear the snow from the whole ice pond?
Do their hooves get cold in the snow?
Do the horses feet ever get cold in the snow
Jim, when are you going to slow down? You have a lot of work to do every day
🙂
