Hi All and Happy New Year to everyone, I hope it brings everything that everyone needs and more. In this video, I decided to show everyone my little trick I use to test for the faulty backlight LED's inside a television using the remote control, a couple of bits of wire and two sewing pins. The TV model featured in this video is:- Panasonic TX-L42B6B. Disclaimer:- Safety First. Absolute genius!!!! Haha. Same principle as using a multimeter.

@@bittertruth6575 Sure is, but try getting the multi meter tips on the contact sides of the LED without taking off the lens😉 that's why I prefer my method as you can more easily scratch through the surface paint to the copper beneath with pins. Good point though...cheers👍

Thanks so much for the advice. A cheap way to check the led.

Hi, thanks for watching 👍, now that's quite interesting, I've never heard of them changing colour before!. Maybe it has a different led type or different technology, unless they were a mixed brand during the manufacturing process and some slightly dodgy ones got put in. Hope you managed to sort it👍

@@dandantherepairman Hello, thanks for the reply ! Oh yes it's quite common in Europe (for what ever reason) ! Also diffuser-lenses popping off the LED's . 2 of those lenses on mine fell off , and now I've got (now get this) a blue and a white spot in the middle of my screen! I can't wait for the day when I'm getting my first OLED TV !

@@ERIC-65 ah yes, I've had experience of the lenses falling off lol. Not really sure about OLED as I've read mixed things about it but it might be good. I currently have a Panasonic 50" which has the entire backlight system from a Blaupunkt 50" inside (long story lol), but it's been working perfectly for many many years now since rebuilding it. A lot of it is about the heat dissipation from the LEDs and the Panasonic ones have a glue strip between the strip and the metal frame so their LEDs get hot and burn out quickly. Keeping them cool helps prolong them👍

So, should you eventually apply thermo-paste like "Artic Silver" to the back of the strip?
