Amanda, did you err in saying that Google Photos can do Keyword Search? The only keywords that can be searched are the Tags that the user manually enters photo by photo into the Google Photos app. It does not search for Keywords that were previously added in a 3rd party photo organizer. I would not recommend Google Photos for adding keywords to a large number of photos. It does not have Batch tagging. Google Photos search by existing embedded Metadata is very limited.
@@Dubinvero when I talk about Keywording in this video I am talking about the AI Keywording that the apps all do. You are correct none of the apps would be any good for keywording you do in the metadata, but keep an eye out for my 2022 update coming out in the next few weeks where I talk about SmugMug which could be a great option to check out if you love a bit of doing a bit of keywording yourself! 😁
I prefer to use external storage or time machine. Largely I didn't know what these different services offered, now you have explained the differences, perks and pricing so well I might make a switch. Thank you
They are great options, just remember that external hard drives don't last forever so replace them every 3 to 5 years. I love cloud storage as a option in the mix of keeping your photos safe because they are great for sharing.... which is so much fun! Enjoy sharing your memories 😊
I think the easiest way to share family photos with family members (immediate family that you trust!) is to create a separate Google account and give the log in credentials to family members. That way there is no tedious sharing and everyone gets to use the special features like facial recognition that you don’t get to share if you share albums the regular way.
I use One Drive as it’s included with my Office 365 subscription, but I am going to also look at using Amazon as it’s included with Prime. I hate having wasted benefits 😂. I pay for a small bit of iCloud storage and I pay for Google One, I suppose i can reduce the amount I spend somewhere as I make more use of Amazon.
I do not normally comment on videos. Your video was great. Your communication skills are excellent and fun to watch. You speak quickly but I’m busy so I appreciated the pace. Would have been fun if you would have changed your background or camera view you from the side during the “sidebar”. I found the info on the different services very helpful. I would think you would have many more subscribers. I think that maybe your channel topic is very specific. But great job on the video.
I have quite many family photos, and I am looking for a solution to organize and share them with the family. I think labels/tags are a better way to organize than putting photos in albums/folders. What platform would you recommend? I think most solutions out there (or atleast the ones discussed in the video) do not offer the users the ability to select tags for viewing photos.
Yes if you want to tag or keyword steer clear of any photo apps as although you can do some tagging most of that work will stay in the app. As for programmes to do it there are a few options, for a free option Adobe Bridge will let you add tags and keywords and is a really nice way to sort your photos (check out my video here ruclips.net/video/ES73_YS-SpA/видео.html) or a nice option that you might not have hear of is Mylio that is a growing platform to sort your photos. Happy sorting😁
Hey, for anything you want to do with Dropbox you need to make sure it is syncing to your computer (so you can see it as a drive in either Finder or Explorer, a quick google should show you how), then you can use both Duplicate Cleaner Pro (PC) or Photosweeper (Mac) to scan for duplicates. For facial recognition, it is a bit of a challenge if you aren't in any of the normal photo apps. For PC there is Tag That Photo and I have yet to find a good option for the Mac other than loading all the photos into Adobe LIghtroom CC and doing it there. In both cases you need to have ALOT of patience as you have to tag each photo, they do help with groups but it is not as easy as the one-click on an app! Sorry!! 🙃
Good to know about the no album structure on iCloud. I just got an iPhone after years of using Android, and I used to back up my photos manually from my phone to my PC (synced with OneDrive) and create folders/albums manually. Now with the iPhone I need to think a bit about this haha. But I guess searching is quite easy in iCloud and they usually bulk photos from the same location together etc. Thanks for the video though, useful! :)

So, just to chime in on pricing for OneDrive. For $69 a year you get 1TB of storage with M365 Personal and 6TB of storage with M365 Family for $99. I would say that Microsoft has better pricing than iCloud or Google here. I prefer Google because it is the most feature right. Hope this helps.

Two queries. If I shoot a video in 4K, and choose 'Original quality', will Google Photos backup in the same resolution to the cloud? And what about a 50 MP photo taken from my phone? Is that saved in Original quality too? Btw, I plan to take a 1 TB Google subscription plan.
Yes just make sure in the settings, especially in the phone app that it is set to Original Quality, and in that case, I would definitely think about a higher subscription plan. Do you know what is the max size photo I can upload to AMAZON Photos? I tried to upload a nice 20 image HD panoramic stitch today. It did not work- black screen. I uploaded a 5 image HD pano and it did work. My camera is 24MP. I shoot raw but the files were rendered in JPEG format.
So Amazon doesn't expressly say a file size limit but from what others have experienced it seems to be around 2GB, however, I have never run into that issue of something being too big just too long when it comes to video length and have managed to load files bigger than 2GB for clients. Your issue does seem odd, the only thing I can think of, thinking a bit left field, is could it be the image dimensions, not file size... was the image that loaded up a smaller dimension size than the pano you were trying to load.
