    This was so helpful. Especially about the warmth avoidance.

    I have used Malibu ddl several times and I'm so thankful for having it as a plan b for color oopsies. I had level 7rc and wanted to go more auburn with a 5 rc and not sure how but it turned my hair and almost black plum color. Used this and my hair actually turned to the color I wanted xD

    I had blue hair for about 4 months. I was sick of the color and wanted something more natural. I tried the ion color remover, but it didn’t do anything. Yesterday, I went to cosmo prov (cosmetology student) I tried DDL with a 10 volume developer. It really lifted my hair color to a light mint green. Today I’m giving my hair a break from shampoo and trying it again tomorrow with water to save damage. This stuff worked for me so far, I hope the 2nd time will really take away the color.

    when we used it at school on my hair it lifted all the color. I've been the color of the rainbow, brown, blonde and back again. I had pink and put purple over it. then lifted that and pit 6na foiled with blonde highlights. I put purple over it again and it lifted my hair color to a level 10! it's crazy awesome stuff we used 20vol so that might have been why

    I just got the ddl today and in hopes that it extracts a good at least cpl levels. i have joico ruby red in my hair and on top a dark brown rusk mixed with little bit of pravana black (totally made it black, but what i wanted). VERY grown out and faded especailly on ends. I usually use the pravana extractor but also notice with that product a lot of compromising as well. Does make me nervous your hair was compromised using only water... making me debate using 10 dev (no way on the 20 for me lol). THANKS for the video and feedback, its what i was looking for! I may come back and respond with my results as well!

    will this work with hair that has been dyed black? my hair is bleach free and brown below that.

    Do you think this would help remove green pigments from my hair? I used to bleach and tone and then I tried to go back to brown and used a dark blonde color and my hair turned green!

    Maybe we can mix Olaplex into the DDL with water to combat the damage to go for the full 45 mins. I'm going to test it out.

      Olaplex will decrease the developer by 3%. So if you use 20 it will make it a 10 volume.

    My stylist just used the DDL on me today- I went from a faded and mixed Kenra 8SM & Pravana Silver to a level 9 blonde and it completely got rid of the silver in about 15 minutes. It was CRAZY how awesome it worked!

    Thank you so much for posting! I added a toner and removed all my highlights. Since you said that water only created a minimal effect I went ahead and used a 20 developer. My hair is back to normal and I'm able to see my highlights again! Yay! You might want to add how to remove a toner to your description box ;)

    I am wondering if you removed the minerals/metals and salt from your hair prior to using DDL? You said in the video that you had been snorkeling in Hawaii?

    • @ChromaCrowns
      @ChromaCrowns  8 лет назад

      +Trisha Kemp Rice Hi! I didn't do that step prior to DDL but I'm looking forward to trying it again so i will try that next time. how have you done that?
      I was doing my hair for our vacation to Hawaii. I hadn't gone yet ;)

      +ChromaCrowns Get the Malibu Makeover kit :] The crystal gels are supposed to draw all of the minerals out. You should do it before you try and remove pigment.

    I was stupid and did my roots with permanent soft black and then did mermaid blue throughout. If I want to get rid of the blue but not the root, should I keep it off my roots even if I just mixed it with water?

    • @hellaluigi5252
      @hellaluigi5252 8 лет назад

      I think it will only remove direct dies. if the black is permanent i dont thiiiink itll affect it

    • @Weterus
      @Weterus 7 лет назад +1

      its not supposed to lift permanent dyes specifically, but it will. its most effective against direct dyes, but it has lifting properties so be careful. Malibu CPR is more for oxidative dyes, so they've got a few to pick from

    Hi thanks for the video! Just wondering why you only applied the DDL half way up the hair strand at that line of demarcation? Was it because you werent trying to also remove the pink color? Also- if it were to be used closer to the scalp, how close can you get without messing with that virgin regrowth?

    • @ChromaCrowns
      @ChromaCrowns  9 лет назад

      maggie may hi! i only wanted to cut the green because the pink wouldn't have affected my next color (which was purple)

  • @lorelei7754

    I used it on my green dyed hair and it didn't work at all. Idk if it was the dye? It was one and only hair dye.

      Lore Lei you can't remove one & only because it contains henna/vegetable oils...The only way to remove henna is to let it grow out. :)

    I know you did this a while ago, a lil back story on my hair, I have 5 n base and had been bleaching I streak of hair toward the front of my hairline (like rogue from xmen) for years. with the arrival of olaplex i decided to try to go full white platinum, did ends first and was fine for a while, then I was getting breakage when combing hair dry, but not wet, even with using the best products, some protein builders but not too much, rotating thru oil and deep conditioning. my stylist (also salon manager) used less olaplex because we believed it backfires for me, which is rare and even talking to olaplex educators directly they just say we pushed too far, which makes no sense because we know my hair 's level due to the streak. so I've given up on olaplex and we even did full bleach to the root. my hair does fine for a while but I still have to treat it gently. now with summer its so dry no matter what I use and some salon manager in the pro store was raving about malibu c. I did the makeover with the crystal gel and miracle repair after and felt my hair was so bright blonde after and it helped remove some of the faded pink direct dye. bought the dye lifter but scared to use. not sure my hair will hold up. my hair still felt dry but laid nicer and less tangles.
    I usually wait out my colors, using more pastels then vibrant, because I don't wash my hair every day. malibu's ph shampoo smells like vitamin c tablets and I think can help fade some direct dyes. also "juicy"shampoo from lush is very vitamin c like and has helped me wash a bit of the pastels out. thanks for your review and if anyone made it to the end of this and has had similar issues with olaplex and dry breakage, please leave me a comment. ive only ever found one youtuber that sais she had olaplex backfire. I'm not knocking it, I think it works great for other people,but my hair always is difficult.

    • @ChromaCrowns
      @ChromaCrowns  8 лет назад

      Hi! From what i have experienced Olaplex itself doesn't cause any damage. Even though your blonde streak in the front is lifting nicely, you are probably just lightening the new virgin regrowth, I'm assuming? The rest of your hair has years of artificial color buildup. My first step is usually to do a color remover a couple of times to remove some pigment without any damage, and that will usually leave you with a beautiful orange color (lol) that can easily be lifted out with lightener and Olaplex then toned to a medium blonde. Then in another session i would lighten again until you've reached your desired result. I've heard many stories of people pushing the lightener too far figuring there is Olaplex in it, but it doesnt prevent damage completely. Bleach is still bleach so, of course, use your best judgement. I would focus on moisturizing and repairing before trying to lift out anymore color until your hair has healed. Try the Olaplaex #3 treatment (its pretty awesome) then i would do some vitamin c powder in shampoo to fade out the rest of the pink that you see. :) hope i was of some help!
