I was born on September 17, 1948: same day as John Ritter. During THE WALTONS series, he played a recurring role as a preacher, if I remember right. I wrote him a fan letter. And he sent me the nicest note; "To Cindy, my birthday twin..loving best wishes, John Ritter.." Such a thoughtful man! All these years later (it is 2019 now as I write), I still tell that story - fondly!

Not really analogous. Steve and Teri Irwin were married happily and never broke up their family. John Ritter and Amy Yasbeck began an affair while Ritter was married to his first wife, the mom of his 3 kids, who devoted her life to supporting him while he was struggling. Once Ritter got famous, he dumped the first wife and took up with the much younger Yasbeck. So no, please do NOT compare Steve and Teri Irwin to John Ritter and Amy Yasbeck. That is really unfair to Teri, Bindi, and Bob.

Cindy Church Cindy, I think I know something about how you are feeling. It was almost exactly 1 year later to that I was suddenly stricken with simptoms just like John's. I had worked all day of 8/04 moving stuff around for my boss, My daughter picked me up and drove me home to my apartment, but she stayed with me for some reason Around 5p I told her I would be right back and drove over to my friend's apartment. We sat and talked while each of smoked
a cigarette. All of a sudden I felt a pop in
my chest and a distinct feeling of dread. My right leg immediately started hurting really bad My friend begged me to let her call 911. It was almost 6pm by the time I relented. Now I: was in the ER getting all kinds of tests done for HOURS till the Drs decided to do a CT of my heart, and found something. The tech wispered to me "it's your heart" Well, everything changed, just minutes later I was heading into surgery! As I was going down the hallway I was saying, "not like John Ritter" over and over again to myself. I at that time had been there for many hours!!! Well they did save my life, It's been almost 15 yrs!!! But I didn't ever get over this guilt of surviving , when he was a better person than I ever was, he wanted so much to survive! So yeah, I think of John all the time!!! Cindy Weekes

I met him many many moons ago as a teenager, when my drama club went to a taping of Three's a Crowd. I went to shake his hand and said that I had had such a big crush on him when I was a kid. He blinked several times and said "Ha...HAD??? " and he did this dramatic sniffle and hand bite LOL while I said "I meant, always... " "No...nono... don't try and make it up to me now.........." Then he turned his face back to me and gave me that great smile, took my hand and gave it a squeeze and told me thank you with a wink. I will always have that in my heart when I think of him. I'd have been in tears most of the time. Watching the clip of him with baby Stella was so moving - they were so happy together. As a 10 year old all I wanted in my whole life was to meet John Ritter. I just wanted to meet this man that made me so happy as a child. No one could understand my connection to this person, but I did. I loved him so much without knowing him. I would always say I wanted to be his friend. So then the news came out that he passed away. I cried for months. I would sit and watch Threes Company and cry. It got so bad my parents had to stop me from watching it for a few months so I could process what had happened and heal. To this day it still hurts. My 10 year old self comes out when I see him on t.v. every now and then and I bawl my eyes out. He will never be forgotten. ❤
