Thump, selective picking, sweebryd, pick scrape, Sweep, sweep arpeggios,Pick tapping,Rake, Rasgueado, Syncopation, Benjo rolls, flutter, Dive bomb and i think i miss a lot more but yea great video
tremolo picking while hammer-pull off starting from 0 up the neck following the scale, doing the Steve Vai bar up technique or having the bar backward, using a slide, using the tremolo bar as either a slide or a pick, using a pick to do tapping ala Joe Satriani, teeth picking, screaming into your pickups, two handed tapping but using string skipping patterns covering half the fretboard, the voilin bow ala Jimmy Page, etc.
You totally missed, "Not Sucking". Totally just kidding. That was one of my favorite playing videos you have done and the backing track was perfect. This sounded like every 'Pop-Rock' hit from 79-87 only in a GOOD way. 'Rikki Don't Lose That Number' has a guitar solo that is a history lesson to that point and you did much the same. Very nice work, Sir.

Nice, You covered a lot! Maybe a string bend above the nut, a raised note by tremolo or trem swell if it happens to float, and a trem trill where you strike the bar and it vibrates. Thanks for another year of content via video. Merry Christmas, and keep rocking!
Thanks for …sounding like a ……freakin SAWMILL !!! Ripping !!! Just blistering set of licks and tricks , could listen to this again and again just for the diversity if nothing else . Shredded , face melted , brilliant stuff - nice backing track as well
With all due respect to my dude, Tyler, it's crazy how Petrucci's "Under A Glass Moon" solo covers like 90% of these techniques in half the time and somehow serves the song perfectly. That one always stood out to me as the final boss of solos.
u missed the technique where you tap on the back of the guitar neck where the truss rod that makes really chilling sound as well asplaying behind the bridge (on a guitar that can do that)
You missed (or forgot to mention) slapping, plucking, scraping, slide guitar, vibrato using the whammy bar (forgot to mention), the Jeff Beck whammy trick, microbends and chicken picking. 😅 Impressive playing though!
You missed the only technique popularized by Jimi Hendrix that I can actually do, soaking the guitar with lighter fluid, lighting it on fire, then grabbing it by the headstock and smashing it on the floor until it breaks.
Not that you didn’t use these techniques, because you used them but here are a few more techniques named. Articulation; legato was mentioned but what about non-legato of staccato, mezzo staccato, staccatissimo. There is the held notes fermata, cadenza Dynamics pianissimo, piano pianissimo, piano, mezzo piano, mezzo forte, forte, forte fortissimo, fortissimo You showed volume swells (crescendo) but lets throw in decrescendo Tempo types including largo, adagio, Adagietto, moderato, presto, prestissimo, speeding up accelerato, and slowing down allargando, and msny more tempo techniques
Slap guitar, that weird slap bass with index and middle finger that that India bassist does, teeth picking, playing with your feet, 8 finger tapping, left hand thumb usage a la upright bass players, bowing, e-bow, B-Bender, d-tuna/drop-d-tuner thingies, right hand muting left hand legato, right hand holding notes down left hand legato, playing on the strings behind the nut, that new weird bending that Steve Vai does where he bends a string, holds it, bends another one, holds them both, releases the first one, then releases the second one, kill switch a la Tom Morello, slide guitar, taking off the tremolo arm and sliding/tapping, taking out the guitar cable and making noise.
Let me tell you not to be an asshole or anything, but I don't personally like your channel as much as many other guitar channels on youtube. typically i'm not the biggest fan of your playing, overall it's fine, but doesn't stick out in any particular way to me. I want you to know however, this solo is the first one that I can say I really enjoyed from you and it showcases your great growth over the last couple years in my opinion since i first came across your channel. this one was very enjoyable. keep developing your unique voice on the instrument!
@@MusicisWin Ah, it was a super quick one right at the 2 minute mark. I listen while I work, so I must have been focused on something else at that moment. What about rapid pickup switching, then? I saw you switch positions a couple of times, but nothing approaching the Tom Morello playbook.
Which guitar technique did I miss? 🤘🏻
the steve vai multibend thing
did I miss "slap"? :p
@@GabrieleMarconetta hehe, "Vai" could just be a style unto itself
Joint Shifting :D
Maybe I missed it, but glide guitar?
teeth picking
Beat me to it
The man who got me into learning guitar much respect
I genuinely love it when he just drops a video of him noodling, especially varied noodling.
Thump, selective picking, sweebryd, pick scrape, Sweep, sweep arpeggios,Pick tapping,Rake, Rasgueado, Syncopation, Benjo rolls, flutter, Dive bomb and i think i miss a lot more but yea great video
This was incredible! Love videos of Tyler shredding
tremolo picking while hammer-pull off starting from 0 up the neck following the scale, doing the Steve Vai bar up technique or having the bar backward, using a slide, using the tremolo bar as either a slide or a pick, using a pick to do tapping ala Joe Satriani, teeth picking, screaming into your pickups, two handed tapping but using string skipping patterns covering half the fretboard, the voilin bow ala Jimmy Page, etc.
love the little references! Cliffs of Dover, Summer Song...
You totally missed, "Not Sucking".
Totally just kidding.

'Rikki Don't Lose That Number' has a guitar solo that is a history lesson to that point and you did much the same.
Very nice work, Sir.
reminds me of that old video of 40 techniques in one solo, shit was awesome, gonna check it again
Great playing man, nice practical display of technique. 🎸🎶☮
It's still crazy to me that you manage to run this channel and appear on SNL each week. Huge props Colin
This is amazing! So brilliant. Love it! And, such a positive vibe. Enjoying making the music. Not showing off. What a talent.
0:35 was a very nice integration of Eric Johnson
0:26 blasphemy against Tim Henson, lol
Best I've ever heard you play, love it man
Thank you Tyler for bringing great music and artist I really enjoy your channel
Steve Vai Chord Bending!!

Tyler you really are an fantast Guitar artist. 🎸 Appreciate all you do.
That may be my favorite thing I have heard you play. Hope you have a great 2025.

Great playing Tyler!!
What an absolute legend!
That was awesome! Look forward to seeing what you’ve got in store for 2025
the christmas gift I didn't know I needed, thanks man.
From the same video u did years ago to this, u still succeed in amusing me☺
U Rock! Love your channel and your awesome 🙌 ❤
Thanks for …sounding like a ……freakin SAWMILL !!! Ripping !!! Just blistering set of licks and tricks , could listen to this again and again just for the diversity if nothing else . Shredded , face melted , brilliant stuff - nice backing track as well
All that was missing was blowing smoke off the finger gun at the end. 007 smooth.
Lots of amazing techniques in this vid. The only one I could think of missing was unison bends.
Have you ever tried an e-bow? It does take a certain technique to get the best out of that a la Stuart Adamson or Bill Nelson.
You missed the recently discussed Jeff Beck glass-slide-above-the-pickups technique. But amazing job!
Also do you have the backing track available for downloading……nice groove!
"Trainwreck Bends" that Stevie Ray Vaughan was kinda famous for. But you got most of them. 😅
Love doing flutters with the tremolo bar
Slide and reverse slide which you just did a video on using the Jeff Beck Reverse slide.
1:18 Was that Summer Song by Satch? lol
With all due respect to my dude, Tyler, it's crazy how Petrucci's "Under A Glass Moon" solo covers like 90% of these techniques in half the time and somehow serves the song perfectly. That one always stood out to me as the final boss of solos.
Show off.
Nah I'm 100% kidding lol. Video added to favorites. Excellent stuff 🤘
Incredible video ! Love it !
1:41 got a good laugh out of me
you forgot the best one! loud blaring of each string attempting to get the g string in tune
amazing complete
Your bonkers. Love it!
Dude! string scaping ! unless I missed it. I had to do a quick watch. Great playing
People saying he missed stuff from the comfort of their couch on their phone, who don't know half of what he did
i think he asked numerous times for the audience to participate by saying what he missed. nerd.
@ He pinned his comment after multiple people pointed out he missed stuff. I think it was sarcasm.
going hard af over some smooth backing track
Thank you!
This song is both amazing and complete butt at the same time, and you're an absolute freaking stud. 🤘
Brutal🤟🏼
I think you forgot: pulling off to open strings & bending behind the nut.
That was amazing! Kinda mesmerizing lol.
Pop Producer: Ok that was good uh can make it 20 seconds long? 3 minutes won't fit in a TikTok clip.
Love it. Very cool
As a drummer, I had no idea there were so many different techniques, and they all still sounded the same to me🤣🤣🤣🤘👍
That’s was cool. I enjoyed it
I'm sure you could find some more stuff looking at Jeff Beck, Steve Vai (talking guitar), and Tom Morello, perhaps. Great guitaring.
🔥🔥🔥
Awesome! 🤙
Can someone explain to me what exactly was the "octave displacement"?
Dang, I was grooving to this!!
Impressive! 🤟🏻
for once i can say you've played well
Very good stuff
This is awesome, all the techniques but very tasty, not just wham bam sweet poontang…love it!!!
u missed the technique where you tap on the back of the guitar neck where the truss rod that makes really chilling sound as well asplaying behind the bridge (on a guitar that can do that)
that was fun! lol
btw what kind of watch is that
You missed (or forgot to mention) slapping, plucking, scraping, slide guitar, vibrato using the whammy bar (forgot to mention), the Jeff Beck whammy trick, microbends and chicken picking. 😅 Impressive playing though!
Make an album this year!
You missed the only technique popularized by Jimi Hendrix that I can actually do, soaking the guitar with lighter fluid, lighting it on fire, then grabbing it by the headstock and smashing it on the floor until it breaks.
Nice!!!
Can you please try to play “keep me breathing” guitar solo by ashes remain
Violin guitar bow?
The hybrid picking sounded an awful lot like cliffs of dover 😂
Wes Montgomery/G. Benson style octaves.
Guitar faces accounted for (check), but might be able to add more.
why is this such a tasty solo though
Natural harmonics is basically summer song by joe sat very cool
You missed Travis Picking... and who the hell was Gilbert?
Love & Peace.... seasons greetings from England.
Jimmy Page's technique of "make a mistake and repeat it 3 times"
Not that you didn’t use these techniques, because you used them but here are a few more techniques named. Articulation; legato was mentioned but what about non-legato of staccato, mezzo staccato, staccatissimo.

this one was very enjoyable. keep developing your unique voice on the instrument!
Pickup switch changing like hnedrix.
🤘🏻
That sounded more Steeley Dan than Steeley Dan!!!
You forgot the forbidden feel technique
String skipping😊
Let’s see… Two note slides, thumping, hand, teleportation, teeth picking, Slapping…… OK, maybe that one doesn’t belong
Yes! 2 note slides using octaves or even using intervals like 6ths or 3rds.
Selective picking
Someone be sandbagging us…
A pick scrape. That's what's missing. May not be as technically impressive as the other techniques showcased, but it can turn heads if timed right.
Watch again 👀
@@MusicisWin Ah, it was a super quick one right at the 2 minute mark. I listen while I work, so I must have been focused on something else at that moment.

Slap
yes got rakes and swells
Dime bag harmonic whammy squeals
what about thumping
