I really love how you went from patches of scribble, which only vaguely resembled your source image, to a very beautiful finished image by adding water and spreading the pigment about with your brushes. Absolutely fabulous!
Thanks greatly Colin for the enjoyable video and how you planned and explained clearly your process to create a painting using your inktence pencils, thanks for sharing this information with your inspirational talent again stay safe and healthy
Colin, loved how you used Inktense for your landscape. I’ve the full set of 100 and use them mostly for florals. I must try a landscape. These pencils are delicious to use!
New here. This video makes me believe I could possibly do watercolor type artwork. Regular watercolor is so overwhelming to me. It takes YEARS to master. Thank you for sharing!!
I love that you chose your favourite colours and created a bespoke set. Can you advise what paper you are using please? Enjoy your weekend in the Cotswolds!
I love everything about your work So much ~~the gestalt of your seeing and making. My goodness though, you work so fast! Like one of those lovely little coastal birds, racing about just beyond the froth of a wave. I move frantically between my paper and the “Pause” button on my iPad! An absolute beginner in Visual Art of any genre, after decades teaching Creative Writing to teenaged visual artists, I love both the daily practice And the results. Thank you so much, Colin. Best to you & all you cherish, Robin Potter, Annapolis, MD, USA
Hi I own some inktense pencils as yes they have some vibrant colours are are excellent for landscapes and a wide range of other subjects coupled with a waterbrush a good little kit for plein air or urban sketching
Thank u Colin, loved the video, I bought the inktense ultimate travel set with 100 pencils plus travel water brushes and everything else that u need, it's expensive but worth every penny. I would highly recommend. Your art is amazing and you talk thru it perfectly.
Beautiful work. I love Inktense pencils. I know that cultpens have a sale once in a while where you can buy 3 for the price of two for many types of pencils and pastels including Derwent products and carandache and others. I check myself once in a while to grab some bargains.
Hi Colin, thanks for this great video. I loved the painting you created using Inktense pencils. In fact, I enjoyed it so much I have just ordered the same set from Derwent. Looking forward to trying them out.
Hi Colin...great presentation of the wonderful Inktense pens! I love working with them too. And I really like your enthusiasm about it 😊. Thanks and have a nice weekend
I really like the colour palette you have put together, it looks perfekt for doing landscapes 😊 your piece turned out lovely, Thank you for this video as it is helpful for me as I plan on adding some colours to my small collection of 6 inktense pencils.
I saw this wonderful option ages ago - being able to create a bespoke set from among all their pencils. Then was so bummed it was only available in the UK. Managed to do it another way, but not as fun, for sure. 😂
I love the painting! So glad you were able to get some custom colors. I appreciate you showing me how to move the paint brush to activate the color. I will give this a try. Thank you.
Colin my friend what are you doing to me. I may well have to nip back to W H Smiths as in the previously mentioned clearance section, they have couple of Inktense tins of 24 crayons, currently priced at £25😱 I’ve held back as I thought maybe I should just spend that amount of money on fewer colours that I would use (another shop in Cardiff sells the Inktense range individually), but I’m going to have to check which colours are in those tins in Smiths🤷🏻♂️Thanks for sharing this little demo, it has encouraged me to bite the bullet either way and get some!
Dang! Got to Smiths and despite both tins having been there for weeks (literally), they have gone!🤦🏻♂️That will teach me to hang around when there’s a good offer on. So, had to feed the habit, so after a stop for coffee ( needed to get over the disappointment), went and bought six from the other shop. £2.50 each. Could probably have got them cheaper on line but there was no postage to pay, and could actually see the colours up close. Thanks again.
Very interesting and beautiful results! I am confused by the various Derwent offerings, however. Are these the ""Watercolour Pencils", the "Inktense Pencils", or the "Chromaflow Pencils"? I am not certain I understand the distinction between them even after visiting the Derwent US website. Thanks again Colin for another video with fresh inspiration!
@@nmhrva Thank you. I am familiar with Inktense, and have a small urban sketcher set of them and love to use them from time to time. Just as with these pencils, my sketcher set is permanent when dry as well.

That’s so kind of you to comment! They are expensive - but I think they’d worth it too!
The great thing too about them is that they dry permanent.

Lovely! Lovely! What’s the brand and brand of your flat paint brush? Thanks!
The flat brush is from the simply range by Daler Rowney

Yes - these are the Inktense
are they really different from watercolour pencils?
Yes, they are, in that the pigment is ink and strong and permanent
