THey very rarely have prices ending in zero, let alone double zero in this game. In the mid 80s, I remember a contestant having only one second left to win the second prize and blurted out $999 on their first guess and won the game, saying they'd seen said prize on the show before.

Lets say that the price is $732. 1000 (half of $2000 if it ever gets this high) Lower 500 Higher 750 Lower 625 Higher 687 higher 718 higher 733 Lower 725 Higher 729 Higher 731 Higher 732 Ding ding ding ding ding etc. I understand that pressure can mess this up badly, but its still a good trick! Go by half every time. You pretty much have a maximum of 11 numbers to go by like this! There might be a more efficient way though, i don't know. Found the trick by myself while playing some game on "Petit Computer" on my 3DS. ---------------------------------------------- An easier trick: 1000 Lower 500 Higher 700 higher 800 Lower 750 Lower 720 Higher 740 Lower 730 Higher 735 Lower 732 Ding! Ding! etc. This one can vary between 8 to 12 guesses, but way easier than the previous. I think ive seen people do that, but i keep missing the show. So i dont know if this last trick is often used.

Perhaps so that people check the items in real stores and see their actual price is lower than the price on the show which encourages them to buy the items thinking they got cheaper...
