Canned Heat - Going Up The Country(Woodstock 1969 Concert), Mono-Mix from 1969 Cotillion LP.

- This live "mono mix" version of "Going Up The Country" by Canned Heat at Woodstock 1969 Concert was taken from the stereo Cotillion LP. Song follows "STAGE ANNOUNCEMENTS". I was not happy with the overall stereo mix balances(especially through headphones!!), so I made a mono mix from the LP track and it turned out better than I originally expected(not perfect either as the original live recordings were made under very adverse conditions), but more balanced in center staging perspective on the mono mix here.
Recorded with stereo gear on background photo.
Been forever since I heard this version. Summer of 1969 I was 24 years old and fresh out of the Navy.
My dad was also in the Navy and he enjoyed seeing the various ports. Thanks for checking out Canned Heat at Woodstock and have a great day from Lloyd.
This song was originally called “Bull Doze Blues” recorded by Henry Thomas from 40 years before, in 1928.
That is cool and I will have to check it out sometime. Thanks Tim for listening and have a great day from Lloyd.
Alan Wilson ...........a kind soul. RIP
Thanks Thomas for listening and have a great day from Lloyd :)
2024, felling nostalgic.

my favorite version of this song. It smokes!
Thanks Tim for listening and have an awesome holiday season from Lloyd.
Damn we are Blessed to have lived thru this Time in Music history. I was 14 years old when Woodstock took place, I still listen to the Music to day. brings back many happy Memories of my youth.
Thanks Lawrie for listening and have a great week from Lloyd :)
Just found this song. And Jesus this is one of the greatest songs made.

Great to hear the full version again after all these years. Many thanks for posting!
Thanks for listening and have a great day from Lloyd :)
Agradeço por também ter vivido essa época , anos 60 e 70 foram incríveis , nada se compara , e wodstock 1969 é único , maravilhoso .
Thanks for checking it out and have a great day from Lloyd.
Woodstock was the musical expression of my generation==Sorry I could not make it, but I had won an all expense paid vacation to South east Asia.
I wish countries could solve problems without wars. Thanks Scott for giving it a listen and have a great day from Lloyd.
I read your comment and thought oh you lucky git, then the penny dropped ! 👍🏻🇬🇧
These are the most cynical, ignorant comments I've seen regarding Alan Wilson. He was just a very talented player and singer, caught up in a very fiery conundrum. He will always be remembered like a meteor hitting the earth.
Thanks Gabriel for listening and have a Happy Holiday Season from Lloyd :)
I love this version. Harvey Mandel’s leads are just so cool! Pretty damn good for just joining the band.
Thanks for listening Jonathan and have a great day from Lloyd.
Blind OWL - you will live on forever...forever 27.
¡¡¡Potente, divino, magnífico, perfecto...!!!
¡¡Esto es música...!!
👍👍👍👌👌👌👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹

¡You're welcome!
¡Thanks you!
Anyone complaining about the quality of their playing, please realize that Woodstock was during a time when drug use was rampant and seen much differently by music fans.
The fans and the bands were almost universally high as kites...don’t expect studio perfection from a bunch of stoned musicians in a live performance OUTDOORS in a rain soaked field.
I agree!! It was a moment in time captured here in recordings for future generations to enjoy and learn from. Thanks Elijah for listening and have a great day from Lloyd.
Woodstock was made on the fly, no rehearsing. It just unfolded as it did, which made the event unique in that manner.
I watched this band many times back when,,This is what it is,a bunch of great musicians tryin to play when they are wasted on all kinds of mind altering drugs and lovin it.
Thanks for listening and Happy New Year 2014.
thank god you posted this version i've been looking for this one for two months now since i lost my first copy . much thanks !!!
You are welcome and thanks for checking it out.
I do too! Many times, these mono 45 records had more power in the sound than the stereo LP version of the same songs. Thanks for checking out this Canned Heat 45 record...Friends, Lloyd.
God how I love it so! This is essential music forever!
I agree Keith!! Thanks for listening and have an awesome day from Lloyd :)
Wow amazing !different version , thanks for posting.
Thanks for listening and have a great day from Lloyd :)
Thank you for making a mono mix that tightens up the soundstaging on this Woodstock track!-Ken.
Luv the start of this version 👍🏻
Thanks for listening and have a great day from Lloyd :)
Enjoyed it you can't beat a bit of rough as it is. Love from England 💙
Thanks Stephen for listening and I wish you an awesome day...From, Lloyd.
Hi Warren, I wish I had the mono (or "monaural" as it shows on the sticker on the rare mono promo photo I found online). I got inspired to make mono mixes because the stereo mix on the original LP album set was not balanced sounding through headphones on many of the tracks to my ears & the mono, while not perfect, put the sound on a more balanced-center sound stage. I also liked the mono TV mix I heard way back in the early 80's when PBS-TV ran Woodstock movie before stereo TV was around.
GREAT job man...I love what you did...it ABSOLUTELY sounds GREAT. THANKS!!!!
blind owl high as hell on lsd singing one of the greatest songs ever written. awesome!
Thanks for checking out this timeless Woodstock 69 classic!!
Are you sure that he was not faking it
this is great man
Thanks Josh for listening and have a great week from Lloyd :)
VinylOldiesJukebox thank you man I I would have never been able to hear it
yeah!
best vocals iv ever heard.
I know, and I think this is part of the magic of Woodstock where the crowd still enjoyed an overall great time, regardless of all the technical problems. I am sure it is possible that everything could have been rehearsed to make it go off more flawlessly? It was still a magic moment in rock history. Thanks for listening to this Woodstock 69 track...Friends, Lloyd.
Alan Wilson is my buddy. He let me know. See you when i do Al!
Thanks Luis for checking it out and have a great day from Lloyd.
When you see him tell him I said hello I'm a very big fan of Allen's
@@debradavis9589 I’m sure you’ll meet him when the time comes Debra.

I do have the Jimi H. performance on here also from the LP record of Woodstock 69. Thanks for listening...Friends, Lloyd.
Thanks for both the comments, and for checking it out...Friends, Lloyd.
Hi Steven, this is on the Cotillion 3-LP album set of Woodstock 69 where I got it from.
Thanks Warren for the comments and for checking it out. I just recently discovered that there was a true mono promo set to the regular stereo issues, and these mono promos were for AM stations at the time of album release...Friends, Lloyd.
You are welcome! Thank you for checking it out...Friends, Lloyd.
what old real good times😍
Thanks for checking it out and have an awesome day from Lloyd :)
bad acid, bad weed , and the blues!
Yes he will!! Thank you for listening to this Woodstock 69 concert track...Friends, Lloyd.
That's because the stuff at Woodstock was good and there was enough for everybody.
Always preferred this rockin' version to the better-known studio cut.
Harvey's playing is real messy here, but keep in mind, this was only his third gig with the band, so he probably wasn't rehearsed too well and was probably completely wasted. Listen to his other solo work... : )
nice song
Thanks Thomas for checking out this song and have an awesome day from Lloyd.
Back in the days when we had freedom and not fascism.
That was when the U.S. government took thousands of young men away from their homes and families and sent them to fight in the jungles of Vietnam against their will.
Joan Baez who performed at Woodstock while pregnant proudly mentions her husband David, who was in jail for draft dodging. Also check out the Fish Cheer and the following song. Losts of protesting of the Government back then. We need more of that now.
Things weren't all that different back then. We had Nixon making enemies lists with people like Joe Namath on it because he had long hair.
Tony M RUclips are fascists
any of you guys get to this,i was 2 yr old,the amount of people who said they were there is feckin' crazy, must of been 2,ooo,ooo+.lol,i know some of you guys were.
@DJDrugless
I agree with you on that, but Woodstock(overall) was in a world all of it's own for 3 days, and many strange things and sounds happened there that are now historical. I would like to both see and hear all the songs and other functions that were omitted from the original movie and album!!...Friends, Lloyd.
great band
Have you seen the footage? Everyone was off their faces, Im surprised they played at all
Show Psicodélico 👏👏✌😘💕
Have a Happy Holiday Season Claudio and thanks for listening, from Lloyd :)
This is from Woodstock...although the triple lp version edits around 1 minute out. Your mono mix is decent man, similar to the mix on the 25th anniversary box set.
Valeu
Thanks Sidney for listening and have a great day from Lloyd.
Hi thanks for posting this I like to hear the other versions from woodstock, do you know where to find the jimi hendrix show that's more true to the actual performance?
He did use fretboard tapping all over one of his albums, and the whole thing sounded pretty messy, but he was one of the first people to utilize it, and it was pretty fun to listen, too. And while I do agree his picking is quite messy on most of his work, it's still listenable and quite enjoyable, IMHO at least. Maybe I'm a bit biased? Lol.
acid lol, thanks☮️
Thanks Ray for listening and have a great day from Lloyd :)
I really enjoyed the music of the era but not the crowds.
WOW. Do you have this mono promo or is it like one of those million dollar ebay auctions? I'v been collecting and listening to Woodstock recordings for so many years....I have most "every version of everything"...so it's always good to hear a different mix. I wonder if these true mono versions were mixed alot different...or even slightly different? Interesting. Thanks Lloyd!
Steven Clarke - Have you never heard Woodstock? FYI
Woodstock Reunion in Bethel August 14th 15th 16th 17th,.
2014 is the 45th Anniversary woo hoo come to Bethel for the Reunion :)
That sounds awesome!!! I wish I could be there for it and I hope they get some great video of the event. Thanks for listening to Canned Heat from the 69 event.
As sloppy as it is, I've always liked Harvey Mandel's solo on this version (the full version from the LP, this one is cut), I can't really explain why..
Thanks Michael for listening and have an awesome holiday season from Lloyd :)
I love it too, and I know why--it's the gritty, rusty tone he gets from that Bogan PA head!
@Ken1978ify
You are welcome!...Friends, Lloyd.
Ditto!
Have a great day and thanks for listening from Lloyd :)
Who threw in the revolution nine lyrics right before blind owl started singing
Thanks for listening to this Woodstock 69 recording...Friends, Lloyd.
99 woodstock was a joke!
Well, expectations . .

Thanks for listening and have an awesome day from Lloyd :)

Wow, no wonder they used the studio version in the movie. This is a sloppy train wreck. The signature flute line is nowhere in sight, the drummer is all over the place at different times, sheesh, disappointing.....
too much autotune ..... ok just joking
I wish that feature was never invented so we can know what real singers today sound like when at their natural best!! Thanks John for listening and have a great day from Lloyd.
